Grab ankles, fold neatly.

It's an m.o. Biden just can't seem to resist.

Whit • 3 years ago

I know people who haven't lost their jobs and make lots of overtime.

Why should they receive these checks?? I've been saying this for months.

The /s is implied • 3 years ago

If he caps it at $50,000, he'll be hurting a lot of people. If you live in a decent size city, $50,000 a year is NOT an extravagant income - especially with the cost of everything increasing because of the pandemic. I've spent a couple thousand setting up an office at home in the past year, but can't deduct any of it because I still have an "real" office provided by my work that's sitting empty. I've also had to pay extra for food and supplies deliveries, and that food and supplies have also been going up in price. I make $60,000 a year, but with taxes, medical/vision/dental insurance, rent, rental insurance, utilities, internet (which I had to increase since working from home), car payment, car insurance, medical bills, food, living supplies, and all the other incidentals, I consider myself lucky if my checking account isn't in the negative numbers from paycheck to paycheck.

Whit • 3 years ago

If you were making 50,000 before the pandemic and still make 50,000, why should you receive a relieve check?

The /s is implied • 3 years ago

I make $60,000. The current bill caps out at $75,000, so I'd get the stimulus. The Republicans are proposing capping it at $50,000, so if Biden caves in to them, then I won't get a stimulus.

d-Democrat • 3 years ago

The billionaires and corporations selected Unity Joe (D) for US 'cause they figured he was malleable . . .
. . . whereas a President Liz Warren would have told them to pound sand . . . and would have demanded a claw-back of the Trump Tax Windfalls for the corporations and billionaires who neither need or deserve them [...and probably would have gotten them, too ... you don't get something IF you don't push for it ... and the Dem establishment doesn't want to push...]

Vishal500 • 3 years ago

Liz Warren had zeeero chance. Stfu

d-Democrat • 3 years ago

That's right . . . corporations and billionaires HATE Liz Warren 'cause she holds them accountable.

Whit • 3 years ago

Exactly!!

The /s is implied • 3 years ago

Your opinion, and you're entitled to it, and d-Democrat is entitled to theirs too. You don't have to piss on other people just to make yourself feel good. Sometimes it's better to keep your opinions to yourself if they're just going to be shitty for no other reason than to be shitty.

curious green • 3 years ago

but if anybody proposes tax cuts for the wealthy the bill passes without much discussion. I'm starting to see a pattern here.

d-Democrat • 3 years ago

The Two Santa Claus Theory . . . I suggest the Democratic Santa Claus needs to get cracking and destroy the Republican Santa Claus . . . before THEY (R) destroy US.

alverant • 3 years ago

I'm employed and pay my bills each month. I'd rather my check go to someone else who needs it more.

Vishal500 • 3 years ago

Yep. I could use a front door though. Oh well

(((Aron))) • 3 years ago

Front doors are overrated!

Vishal500 • 3 years ago

Lol

Gotitbutsmh • 3 years ago

So am I, sounds like you don’t shell out cash to family members who our government forced to eat air? Oh wait, that was my job. Lucky you.

(((Aron))) • 3 years ago

What?

Gotitbutsmh • 3 years ago

Some who have been able to keep their jobs are near the breaking point also helping family members out of work.

(((Aron))) • 3 years ago

Gotcha. And yes. It is completely and utterly heartbreaking. But I trust Joe, Kamala, Chuck, and Nancy. They are going to fix this.

d-Democrat • 3 years ago

That's your choice . . . you can donate it if you like . . . that gets it out to the Public market and boosts OUR Consumer-Based Economy.

coffeebreath • 3 years ago

Judging people's circumstances in 2020 off of 2019 tax returns is just idiotic. People should be able to claim relief if they can show losses in 2020. And frankly, anyone over a certain income getting these checks despite having had no loss of income should pay it back.

d-Democrat • 3 years ago

There were and are earnings caps already for stimulus cheeks. This go-around the GOPigs want to make the cap excessively low [...of course THEY (R) do...]

The /s is implied • 3 years ago

That Vishal500 person has it out for you for some reason. Did you One-And-Done his sister or something?

d-Democrat • 3 years ago

'Twas a wasted effort, then . . . I never even noticed. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

disqus_rain.storm.rose • 3 years ago
Biden's proposal mirrors income requirements in previous COVID-19 bills that would provide payments to individuals making up to $75,000, and couples $150,000, a year.

It would probably be supported by Democrats if those at $75,000/$150,000 still received the full amount, but it fell off faster so that families at $350,000 were not receiving checks.

d-Democrat • 3 years ago

The GOPigs were pushing to cap at $45k . . . cheap fuckers.

(((Aron))) • 3 years ago

I would imagine that is likely the plan.

angi101 • 3 years ago

I think the Democrats need to tell them they have until tomorrow to back the plan or they're pushing forward on reconciliation, period!!

(((Aron))) • 3 years ago

I can live with that.

gysgt213 • 3 years ago

My problem with this is they are not sure who is making what these days. Filed your taxes in 2019 and you may have reported an income you no longer have.

Poladydi • 3 years ago

That's exactly right. Many were laid off in 2020. Unemployment payments vary greatly from state to state also.

Nuland's Cookies • 3 years ago

So fucking true!

(((Aron))) • 3 years ago

I would imagine that will be taken into account.

Pennsylvania Bob • 3 years ago

Nope, they are going by your 2020 tax return (income from 2019)

(((Aron))) • 3 years ago

Then I guess people will get the checks regardless.

gysgt213 • 3 years ago

How?

(((Aron))) • 3 years ago

I am also OK if everyone gets the check.

Just so long as the people who need it the most receive it, that's the only thing that matters.

(((Aron))) • 3 years ago

I don't work in government. But I trust the people who do.

tubuc • 3 years ago

"Say it ain't so Joe!"

(((Aron))) • 3 years ago

Why? There is nothing wrong with what he is proposing.

Poladydi • 3 years ago

Spine, don't lose it Joe. Once the democrats lose it, its downhill from there.

John Baker • 3 years ago

If the Democrats need spine, why is Chuck Schumer Majority Leader? McConnell will use him for a doormat.

Xian • 3 years ago

If anyone knows about "jam" it's mcconnell.

NMRon • 3 years ago

All right then, it's decided. No republicans get a check . . . or the vaccine. All's right with the world.

Poladydi • 3 years ago

Great idea. They want compromise well then that is a compromise.

pigman • 3 years ago

Oh, and uh, who cares if not a single rapepublican agrees with the 1.9 trillion Dollar package, Mittens?

sammyguy • 3 years ago

people in need need it, people who don't, don't ... where has "common sense" gone to ... can anybody answer me that ...

Nuland's Cookies • 3 years ago

It doesn't matter, it is a stimulus, it will boost the economy. Anyway, the check is not the problem as it is targeted to couples who earn less that $150,000. It is the business assistance that is tricky. tRump allowed the rich to cannibalize the fund leaving most small business's empty handed.

Churlayla • 3 years ago

Yep, Tom Brady, making 25mil a year to throw a football, got just under million for his sport nutrition company. Then he bought a new 2mil dollar boat. The rich love socialism when it's for them.
