This tip-o-the-iceberg story helps explain why NJ has some of the highest state taxes in the USA, but does not seem to provide anymore services than states with half its taxes. Like Illinois, NJ has a long history of political corruption. Like Illinois, sending people to jail does not stem the hemorrhaging tax dollars. Providing tax incentives to attract business is a scam. With all the articles written about Amazon's HQ extortion, you would think that the practice would stop.
