After they stole the commuter lanes we taxpayers paid for for 20-25 years and handed them over to a for profit company, NO WAY IN HELL EVER AGAIN!!!!!

66 • 6 years ago

Amen to that

Marven Norman • 6 years ago

The "for-profit company" is the Transportation Commission. The revenues are paying down the bond debt, then would ideally be available for use on other projects in the corridor to further improve traffic flow. However, I'm not sure how exactly it was structured, so it might not work exactly like that.

Tax Tax Tax is that all you democrats know how to do? Cervantes and Roth both took Browns bribe of money back to new cities in their districts that Brown stole from them. So we now have a shiney new gas tax, on top of our shiney new sales tax to trim trees, and now they want even more in sales taxes! Well you all can just KISS MY GRITS! Take it from the 12 cent gas tax where its supposed to come from.

I for one don't care if they almost max their yearly budgets. That is the way it should be. If every year they have excess someone isn't budgeting correctly and they are over taxing us for their yearly needs.

Scott Thomas • 6 years ago

It's far past time to start clearing the decks on the commissions. Taxes are too high already and they want to add more? Um yeah no thanks. Let's see some real world improvements before you come back to the taxpayers for more.

Transportation should be paid for by those who use it. A sales tax made be easy to pass, but is the worst way to pay for transportation.
We will only start seeing good decisions made when we start charging a per-mile use fee on roads. Get rid of the gas tax. All monies should be earned and spent at the local level. If the number of cars starts to exceed the capacity of the roadway, then start charging a congestion fee to non-residents. This is the only way the public we learn the best way to move around and governments will learn the true impact of building out communities without first building out transportation.

You ain't seen nothin' yet. If the federal tax law change goes into effect you won't be able to deduct more than $10,000 in property tax and you won't be able to deduct your state income tax. You will be paying tax on your taxes. And what is worse is that you won't be able to blame the Democrats.

Marven Norman • 6 years ago

Don't forget, the feds are also thinking about gas taxes too.

66 • 6 years ago

drain the swamp in Riverside , start with these two swamp turds no more taxation without representation .

Marven Norman • 6 years ago

They're elected representatives, which is literally the definition of representation.

66 • 6 years ago

Leeches is what they become

66 • 6 years ago

Who do they represent after they get into office , it surely is not the tax payer , i believe it starts with raises 1st ., then Corporate greed kicks in then come the TAXES .

Marven Norman • 6 years ago

They represent the interests of their constituents, otherwise they lose reelection.

“Whether it is the 91 (Freeway) or the (Interstate 215/60 Freeway interchange), it seems that every time we fund a $500 million or a billion-dollar freeway improvement, it quickly returns to being stop-and-go,” Jeffries said. “If we spend all these taxpayer dollars and you don’t see any real improvements, how do you go back and legitimately ask for more?”

I must commend Jeffries for finally starting to realize that it's impossible to build our way out of congestion via freeway lanes. What we need are alternatives. They can start by improving Metrolink service, then going from there.

We shouldn't have to keep voting on these measures. We're paying enough. Get to the root of the problem! Prop. 13. Namely the fact that corporations are also getting the same tax breaks homeowners do, costing us billions of dollars of revenue every year. They need to pay their fair share! I don't see why I should have to pay even more to fix the crumbling roads while Chevron continues to get the same property tax benefits as grandma.

Local Crook and fake Republican John Tavaglione knows how to do it, they'll wait until 2020

the American • 6 years ago

$0.70 more per gallon coming at the pump in addition to the tax increase you got just got slapped with...
when will you so-called "progressives" in California get a clue? Sorry to burst your bubble but that's not progress, that's regression, and you are a complete joke!!

Marven Norman • 6 years ago

Last I checked, the Riverside County Transportation Commission, which is the agency considering the tax, is far from "progressive".

the American • 6 years ago

Well since we now can actually reclassify the word "progressive" as REGRESSIVE in it's actual meaning or how it applies in politics, you might actually be right.
If a tax increase is considered Progressive we're not interested.

the American • 6 years ago

Just remember in Riverside, Jose Medina voted to raise your taxes, and Mark takano VOTED to raise your taxes, and they will continue to do so.
Economically Clueless, get rid of them.

the American • 6 years ago

So all you RAT Bottom Feeders are the ones voting for this ignorant crap???
NO wonder RAT infested California is such a mess!

Tom Reece • 6 years ago

Juanita Williams-perry • 6 years ago

I would vote no if it came to a vote.At least they are going for a vote instead of backdoor dealing and imposing a tax on us like the Democrats did.Vote to repeal the gas tax

Honor Veterans • 6 years ago

WHy not? Stupid voters seem to love 'em!

maverick6488 • 6 years ago

Here's a way for voters to fight back against these liberal tax and spend idiots: If you are a registered voter, download, sign and return the petition at the following link to place a measure on the ballot to repeal the gas tax and amend the Constitution to prevent the commies in Sacramento from ever again passing a tax without voter approval. http://act.reformcalifornia...

JF1962 • 6 years ago

I wish we could keep the local school districts from continually pushing taxes that are added to our property tax bill. Stupid people keep voting for this crap.
