Hello! Thanks for your interest in our new product!

I’m Eric Beier, MD and President of Respiratory Health Technologies, the team behind the SinusSauna Hyperthermic Mask.

We’re a health technology start-up focused on developing products that improve respiratory health and wellness. RHT is backed by Boomerang Ventures, an Indianapolis-based venture fund and start-up studio on a mission to help solve the most pressing healthcare challenges facing the world today.

In 2019, two medical students at Indiana University School of Medicine discovered that heated air may aid in fighting the common cold. Rather than just store away this knowledge with the rest of their medical school learning, they decided to create a product that may help people improve cold symptoms and avoid coming down with a common cold after being exposed to others with a cold.

One of the medical student’s fathers happened to be a medical device engineer, and together with one of his medical device engineer friends, they invented the SinusSauna.

In 2021, they came to me at Boomerang ventures. And together we established Respiratory Health Technologies (RHT) as a life science company in Indianapolis to bring respiratory health products to market. RHT is now in the final stages of developing the SinusSauna and bringing the benefits of hyperthermic air sessions to the millions of people who suffer from the common cold.

So what is SinusSauna?

SinusSauna is an innovative wellness product that represents a novel, non-pharmaceutical, non-invasive solution for people who want to improve upper respiratory wellness and when faced with a common cold infection or exposure to others with the common cold.

The SinusSauna is based on scientific work which demonstrates that the most frequent cause of the common cold, the rhinovirus, doesn’t do well when exposed to hyperthermic (hot) air such as that produced by the SinusSauna.

The SinusSauna also builds on research which shows that the heated air in room saunas improves health and wellness, including helping improve respiratory health and avoiding common cold infections. Since most people don’t have access to a full-size sauna at home, an affordable, personalized sauna for the nose and sinuses will soon be available with the SinusSauna.

The reception to the SinusSauna from focus groups and individuals who have tried it has been very positive. Users report that a 20-minute session with the SinusSauna is very relaxing and enjoyable. Those who have tried demonstrator prototypes at home have reported upper respiratory wellness improvements when starting a common cold or being exposed to others with a cold.

Why did we come to Prelaunch.com?

Hey Eric!

Glad to have you here on Prelaunch.com! Sounds like a great idea. I'd seen UV used in a mask for disinfecting the air, but I'd never thought of heat as a possible solution as well.

I'm curious, how hot does the air you breathe in through it get? And how long is it exposed to that heat?

Best,
Dan

Great question, Dan!

The mask heats the air to around 110°F (43°C). We recommend an easy 20-minute application.

Wow, that looks like a pretty badass mask! Inspired by Bane much? haha I can't wait to give it a try. How adjustable is it? Or will it be available in different sizes? I have a pretty wide chin, and masks don't always have a nice sealed fit for me...

The product is still under development but we anticipate it will be available in different sizes. Thank you for asking.

How much will be the shipment to Germany?

Great question. The product is still in development, and we are currently looking at all possible options to complete order fulfillment. We will keep you posted.

I suffer from allergies and get headaches often. I was curious if the SinusSauna could help with those symptoms. Have there been any studies done to show its effectiveness?

Good question. Unfortunately, the product is not intended for those conditions and has not been studied for those conditions

I was wondering how the heating system in the SinusSauna mask works. Is it safe for daily use and do we need to do anything to maintain it? I see there's a daily limit though.. does that mean I can't use it as my primary mask when I'm flying?

That is a great question. This mask is meant to be used therapeutically for no more than 20 minutes at a time, and is not intended for daily use or to replace any other type of mask.

I'd like to see how the SinusSauna compares to other similar products on the market. Can you provide any data or information to show its effectiveness compared to others?

Thank you for the feedback. This product is still under development and we don’t have comparison information yet.
