Murdoch-Media in disarray.

handsofstone • 3 years ago

I hope it burns with Trump.

Have you seen Spartan's brand new news compiler site?

Yes, what the WSJ says is kind of important, this is Murdoch messaging Trump.

Booker2118 • 3 years ago

Murdock is messaging GOP senators. WH is gone. If the billionaires lose the senate, they may be treated like ordinary Americans and that is intolerable.

mark • 3 years ago

Murdock? From the A-Team?

;)

dabize • 3 years ago

And that would serve you guys right, because you were his cheerleaders in mendacity.

LordDart • 3 years ago

Speaking on behalf of the WSJ, they highly resemble that remark... 😎

I actually think Sleepy Joe, and the whole "Joe Biden is Senile" stuff is going to massively backfire anyway.

Campaigns are all about setting expectations. It's kind of like how the Clinton campaign set really, really low expectations for Trump, and then all he had to do was slightly exceed them to get glowing coverage.

If Biden shows up reasonably well for the debates, Trump looks like an idiot for claiming he's senile. If Joe beats Trump by most accounts, then Trump looks even worse: Like he lost a debate to someone who's supposedly senile.

Left_We_Go • 3 years ago

We didn't always get the best of Biden in primary debates, but that's because I don't think that arguing with other Democrats fires him up all that much. He's more likely to treat Trump like he treated Paul Ryan.

Its Me Indy • 3 years ago

Excellent point. Biden didn't need to attack people that he will need in the future that he mostly agrees with.

Biden gets fired up when he sees something that goes against his good nature. Trump will be on the receiving end of a LOT of disdain from Joe.

Left_We_Go • 3 years ago

Harris lobbed a serious attack on him and he still found it tough to fight back, probably because on a certain level he respected that she was trying to compete. He tried going after Sanders and Warren, but his heart wasn't in it and he never stuck with it very long. Pete oddly enough ended up getting more of his ire than anyone in the primary, and even that only lasted for one debate. I just think it's difficult for him to get enthused about those intra-party arguments.

@xian@xoxo.zone • 3 years ago

It did blindside him because he literally needed to hear this from someone like her because he was not tuning in to how it sounded to reminisce about the good ol’ segregationists he came up with and how they treated the young white man he was back then with respect.

RolvfromNorway • 3 years ago

It seems almost everybody missed his point.
What he said basically was: 'Awful as they were, today's gop-ers are even worse'.

@xian@xoxo.zone • 3 years ago

They missed the point because his example was so distractingly and cluelessly egregious. He stepped on his point.

RolvfromNorway • 3 years ago

I guess I've read the Gospels too much ... 😎
Jesus did the same in his parables.
Problem is, we've become too familiar with them to see how shocking he was.

@xian@xoxo.zone • 3 years ago

jesus stepped on his own message?

RolvfromNorway • 3 years ago

No, he made scandalous contrasts.
Just think of rhe good Samaritan.
It was the equivalent of a 'good Nazi'.

@xian@xoxo.zone • 3 years ago

meh

RolvfromNorway • 3 years ago

No meh.
Jews and Samaritans were mortal enemies.
For Jesus to make a Samaritan a good example, was like you or I making a Nazi the hero of the tale.
Seriously.

@xian@xoxo.zone • 3 years ago

thanks, bible explainer. i'm just saying that your example doesn't map to the real context very well.

RolvfromNorway • 3 years ago

I'd say it does. Making a stark contrast to drive the point home.

@xian@xoxo.zone • 3 years ago

you’re ignoring the context to make a glib point

RolvfromNorway • 3 years ago

Strangely, that's nearly how I read your posts here. Let's agree on disagreeing on this one.

@xian@xoxo.zone • 3 years ago

weird to make it a broad point to ignore the specific one: that you see no difference in context or scale between redeeming humankind from original sin and getting a majority in the electoral college

RolvfromNorway • 3 years ago

???????

@xian@xoxo.zone • 3 years ago

(he wasn't trying to get a majority in the electoral college)

Matt on the Internet • 3 years ago

That's the beauty of what Trump's campaign has been doing, though. Biden doesn't need to be the best version of himself as a debater at this point. All he has to do is exceed the lowest of low expectations: Proving he's not senile and can string a sentence together.

Ironically, all the deceptively edited videos that make him look like a doddering old fool are going to backfire in this case, because people will see him and think, "Huh, he actually seems fine."

The Trump campaign has set Biden's bar for success in a debate as seeming "fine." Think about that for a second.

@xian@xoxo.zone • 3 years ago

Right. He was walking a tightrope trying not to offend anyone to his left.

Left_We_Go • 3 years ago

He also, in spite of any disagreements, liked Sanders and Warren personally and could find more than plenty of common ground with them on issues. He definitely doesn't see Trump that way.

LordDart • 3 years ago

People want the Sleepy Joe rather than the Drama Don...Trump is living in 2016 and it just ain't the same...but by all means, I think he should proceed as he's doing...

@xian@xoxo.zone • 3 years ago

Better Sleepy Joe than Seepy Diaper

Biden was really impressive in his speech in Pennsylvania yesterday. I think the more of them he does, the more comfortable he is doing them. The difference between his ability to speak and trump's is glaring.

Its Me Indy • 3 years ago

Biden looks like a president every time he speaks.

He is what this country needs:
decency
compassion
competence

mdlib • 3 years ago

Trump can't debate Biden he can just berate him. Joe has a lot of knowledge of policy while Trump can only spout word salad. In fact Joe should challenge Trump to a push up contest if he tries to make an issue of his age. My guess is Trump couldn't even do one.

@xian@xoxo.zone • 3 years ago

True. Also sadly trump hacked the women’s election because he could say he “looked” more the part than she did. A con artist clown in 3 inch lifts with glued on Kennedy wisps had a better chance when so many backward American men and white people could look at Hillary and think she doesn’t look like a president.

None of that bullshit will work with a white haired white man with regular features wearing a tailored dark suit.

Agree with everything you've said, except one thing. I spoke to several white women in 2016 (that were not being told what to do by a man) that were against HRC because "a woman can't be a leader because she's too emotional." I had three different arguments on this B.S. To say that and vote for the most emotional candidate in U.S. history is beyond absurd.

@xian@xoxo.zone • 3 years ago

Yep, note I said men and white people. White women are included in that group deliberately.

felix • 3 years ago

Right. When Biden agreed to debate Sanders one-on-one in March, the Bros were practically salivating because they believed their own bullshit about Biden's "dementia." So did some regular voters. Biden exceeded expectations in a big way and basically kicked Sanders ass.

Barefoot Duck • 3 years ago

I agree. Don't underestimate the opponant.

Souleymane Sissoko • 3 years ago

True but Biden is debating in all his life!!
Are you going to teach a pregnant woman about sex??

exxgoper • 3 years ago

The whole “Biden os senile” thing was cooled by David Sirota and Jeff Weaver, as a counterweight to Bernie’s heart attack. Then they served it to the Berniebots. They had a field day with the allegations in the blogosphere and in social media. And there were a few imbeciles here in PW that kept pounding the meme. It was nonsense from the beginning. However, of you read Breitbart, their editorial line is that Biden is severely impaired and in an advance state of dementia. They believe this. As I have been saying since 2016, if Bernie is not in the payroll of the Russians, he should be.

Booker2118 • 3 years ago

I agree with most of what you posted but I don't know how Trump could look worse....and that includes if he shot someone of 5th Ave.

chucktranberg • 3 years ago

We can only hope and VOTE.

@xian@xoxo.zone • 3 years ago

We can also organize. Adopt a state. Make sure everyone in your orbit is registered and has a plan to vote. Support senate candidates. Support legislative races that will control redistricting next year.

Harry Williamson • 3 years ago

One thing I didn't think we would see. There may be a wholesale acceptance among some of the GOP, at least privately, that Trump will lose and this is happening before the conventions. It will become self-reinforcing, they will become fatalistic. They will go through the motions, but probably won't exactly be going all out pushing for Trump's re-election either.

But there WILL be a minority hard core base that will go absolutely fucking nuts as the reality of not just a loss, but possibly a historic loss becomes more and more obvious.

StoneLaw • 3 years ago

Yup - every man for himself (plus a few women, too).

LordDart • 3 years ago

Most of the Republicans I know are voting for Biden...they, of course, voted for the "R" in 2016 with utter distaste...but most say they are embarrassed at what their party has become and they accept and apologize for voting for the ignorant fuck in 2016...the others don't say anything but just shake their head and turn red in embarrassment...

They're not the core of the GOPee, but we should take any vote we can get....

I know several of these, too. Every vote counts. Even if we only shave off a couple of % points off people registered as Rs.

LordDart • 3 years ago

Absolutely...as you said, every vote counts!
