Merkel and Marcon look as if they've seen the Anti-Christ. Trump looks like he his mentally asking, "What is thy bidding, Master?"

gnatswatting • 5 years ago

Who can say they haven't? 👹

The granddaughter of a famous Soviet era leader has this take on the Putin-Trump dynamic.

Putin seems to think that he has been using the strategically incompetent Trump to advance his ends. In fact, Trump has dragged everyone into his reality-TV world, in which sensation, exaggeration, and misinformation all serve his only true goal: to be the last "survivor" on the island.

Nearly everybody else is also scowling. European leaders are finding themselves caught between the Russian leader on one hand and his ally, the American leader, on the other. They have very good reason to scowl. This trip is doing Trump more international damage than this photo op trip was supposed to. The very worst pictures are coming out, exposing the incompetence of Donald Trump to the very European leadership who need American support and are being forced to forge a united Europe by Russian aggression without it.

His only "friend". Everyone else makes him feel like an outsider (something he can't stand since he deserves all the attention all the time). Putin plays him like a cheap fiddle and he thinks that Putin likes/respects him.

Everybody else makes Trump look politically incompetent. Macron made Trump look like a total fool on the international stage, and came off well himself in the process, not even beginning to look condescending. A whole lot more political skill leading France than leading the US, obviously.

Edit: Trump doesn't seem to realize that Putin is purposely denigrating him in front of the assembled leaders of the world.

I don't even think I'd be as offended at his constant lying if he weren't so bad at it.

Which is why he refused to go to the memorial in the rain?

None of his few smiles ever look real. His eyes never smile.

It isn't just Macron and Merkel. There are a whole lot of scowls aimed at Putin in the expanded picture. No leader except Trump is showing any welcome.

Helsinki was the moment where it became painfully obvious that Trump was a threat to America's national security. Some people think America can live with that threat for another two years.

I strongly disagree.

It that a fat roll in your pants or are you just happy to see me?

The Mrs. doesn’t get such a reaction.

Chris in Western N.C. • 5 years ago

LOL! And she's probably quite thankful for that!

Rue Ryuzaki • 5 years ago

Lol 😂.

Chris in Western N.C. • 5 years ago

LOL! It reminds me of "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" when they were interviewing the town's wives getting their views on the matter of the chicken ranch and one of the ladies replied, "It never bothered me that that Elmer went to the chicken ranch, it kept him from bothering me all the time."

I'm sure Melania feels the same way.

Rue Ryuzaki • 5 years ago

Lol 😂 you may have a point.

DCTexan • 5 years ago

One mega-upvote for the “Best Little Whorehouse In Texas” reference.

Chris in Western N.C. • 5 years ago

Why, thank you! I loved that movie. I've heard the play is even better.

DCTexan • 5 years ago

I had the pleasure of meeting legendary Texas playwright, Larry L. King (best-known for penning “The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas”) at a reception 30 years ago. His personal stories about Texas politicians — notably LBJ and Charlie Wilson — still make me laugh to this day. We had a good five minute conversation despite the long line of much more important people waiting to meet him.

Chris in Western N.C. • 5 years ago

Oh, I could sit and listen to such stories for days.

Trump isn't an evil man, because he's not a man at all.

He's just a selfish spoiled little boy in a fat aging body, who wants unconditional approval for everything he does.

And unlimited credit to go with it.

Putin is one of the few who'll oblige.

Putin is doing what spymasters always do, he is managing an asset.

It is striking how predictable his reactions and moves have become to anyone paying attention. It's possible that his emotional transparency is what some people respond to as authenticity. But then by that measure, we might as well make my dog president... at least he is good natured.

Hawkeye • 5 years ago

That speaks directly to the suggestion that Trump's followers are there because they are in someway programmed to be, rather than making any conscious decision to follow him. There is some sort of blind cult working in that process, quite probably one that was not initially created for Trump to lead, but the con man stepped into that role just plain too easily.

Oh, Trump, you can't hide those bedroom eyes.
