The first picture hooked me absolutely. I had heard about Lake Garda but never read a detailed blog as this. Autumn looks amazing here. Frassino Lake is a beauty too. Verona has so much historical heritage. I would love to visit it all. And ofcourse, I wouldn't miss visiting Juliet's house where the famous story comes from.

Many thanks for your sweet comment.I am so glad that you liked the post. Lake Garda is an absolutely gorgeous place and especially during autumn, it has its very own magic. And there are so many things you can do :)

Wow. What a detailed guide. Very very detailed - Thank you for sharing ! I had no idea this place existed. You've opened my eyes to a wonderful place. Now I want to research more in depth about Juliet's house haha Safe travels! - Ella

Dear Ella, many thanks for your sweet comment. I am so glad that you liked the post. Indeed Lake Garda is a gorgeous place and especially during autumn, it has its very own magic: bright autumn foliage, no crowds and still warm temperatures.

Gorgeous photos! I love Sirmione and Garda - I was there the summer before last. It's strange to see it in the autumn! Thanks for sharing.

Oh really? What a coincidence? I loved autumn at Lake Garda: no crowds, still warm temperatures and autumn foliage is so bright and shining in all imaginable colors.

I like your style, it's fresh and easy to read ;)
And I completely agree to you: it's so silly to be taking pictures at the Romeo Juliet balcony! But we'll, tourists often do things much more stupid than that.. unfortunately.
I am actually looking at visiting more of Italy so thanks for all the info shared !

Many thanks for your kind comment Raluca. I totally have to agree with you on this... tourists often don't act the smartest way. Some think that they are privileged and do things that they'd never do at home. But it's awesome that there exist such reflective travellers as you and create an awareness about such situations. I am looking forward to follow your travels in Italy.

Amazing, detailed guide to Lake Garda! Thanks so much for compiling this, wish I would have had this before travelling there :D

Paulina On the road • 6 years ago

Many thanks for your kind comment Toni. Where have you been at Lake Garda? There is always a reason to go back to such a pretty place :)

Michelle Snell • 6 years ago

I have been to Italy several times, but never to Lake Garda. I definitely have to add this to my list. Such a beautiful area, I am especially interested in Sirmione. Thank you so much. I'll be saving your post for future reference!

Paulina On the road • 6 years ago

Many thanks for your sweet comment dear Michelle. I am so glad that you liked it and Lake Garda is definitely a destination that should be on everybody's bucket list. Especially in autumn the area is gorgeous.

Didn't regret I read this lengthy post. It was all dreamy from the descriptions to the pictures, I was imagining some days in Lake Garda during autumn. Sirmione and Verona are too beautiful. I'm convinced to add Lake Garda to my bucket list.

Paulina On the road • 6 years ago

Many thanks for your kind comment Kathy. I am so glad that you enjoyed the post. Autumn is definitely a great season to visit Lake Garda: the colors are bright, weather is still good and there basically no crowds! :)

Oh come on!!! Tell me something? Is there one inch of Italy that's not beautiful??!!!! May it be the historical beauty Rome or natural beauty of Tuscany, the whole country is gorgeous and Lake Garda doesn't seem to be an exception. I'd love to stay here for a couple months if I got a chance!!!

Paulina On the road • 6 years ago

Many thanks for your kind comment. Hahahah yes indeed, Italy's beauty is nothing new ;) But I really enjoyed to see the change from summer to autumn: no crowds, bright autumn foliage and almost empty streets to do your grocery shopping in quaint little local shops.

You've really captured the essence of Lake Garda in your post and the photos are beautiful. I was there almost two decades ago with a college trip and it is the first place ever where I had wine, so will always remain special. My favourite part is of course Verona, a town that I just adored.

Paulina On the road • 6 years ago

Many thanks for your sweet comment Raghav. I am really glad that you enjoyed the post. That's a cool souvenir from Lake Garda that you have: your first wine! The wine is excellent over there! Which one did you have?

Suzanne • 6 years ago

I am a firm believer in visiting destinations during off-peak season. I personally hate crowds and find they can spoil a travel experience unless crowds are what you're going for (e.g. running with the bulls in Pamplona or celebrating Holi in India). Lake Garda and these other destinations look so beautiful in the fall.

Paulina On the road • 6 years ago

Many thanks for your kind comment Suzanne. You are absolutely right, there are some places you better travel to off-season when the crowds are away. It gives you much more peace of mind to visit and wander around.

Oh wow! We've been to Italy a few times with family, but we haven't explored most of these places! How picturesque! We always seem to go in the summer, so I'd love to see what it's like in autumn!

Paulina On the road • 6 years ago

Many thanks for your kind comment Marcie. I can't imagine visiting Lake Garda in summer... I heard it would be very crowded, whereas in autumn you had the place almost for yourself and the colors are just gorgeous.

We have a place around 35 minutes from Verona, so I know this area well! I didn't know about the thermal baths, but now I do, I'd like to go! You're right about visiting in autumn, it's still warm enough and beautiful photos to take!

Paulina On the road • 6 years ago

Oh really? Oh lucky you! Lake Garda is stunning indeed... it would definitely buy a house there too! The views from the thermal baths are gorgeous, and especially in autumn, you'll have them for yourself!
