I caught the same picture. They were fighting over a rat.

I wonder what is going on with these Red wolves now it has been twice and I have seen a male mounting a female. It must be mom and Dad. Anyone have an idea why we are seeing this behavior. I know dogs do it to show dominance. I just have not witnessed this before.

They have been a pretty fertile couple they must have just put them back together. I guess Sam had been counting his days. She might not be in heat anymore so he could try but I don’t think puppies are possible anymore but I am not a wolf expert. I have a boy dog that mounted a female dog and ended up in a tie but he was fixed shooting blanks and the female was not in heat but some how they ended up in a tie.

Susan a great picture. I guess we know what happens to the camera’s. I am surprised that they even bother with the camera. Either it has human smell on it and that draws attention to it or it makes a noise when focusing. Just a thought. I love the Go cameras the wolves are very funny running up to the camera chewing or smelling it then run away to only try to sneak up on it. I could watch wolves explore and play all day long and never be bored. I wish I lived close to WCC I would love to volenteer to do the cameras. I think that would be a awesome job watching them. They are eating what appears to be a small deer. Do you get road kill for the wolves or did they hunt this themselves?

They give them road kill and also from local hunters if they have extra but mostly road kill. These Red wolves are pro’s at killing the buzzards they are always eating and playing with the black birds. There are also small mamamals in the enclosure’s mice and chipmunks. Hope this helps. 😊🐺

Impressive .. In 4 years, it's the only family I've seen catch buzzards or crows.

Yesterday, I saw them catch a buzzard!

I got to see for the first time today the way they devoured that deer very fast, all 5 of them eating and not fighting about it. I was lucky to be sitting at my computer at the right time!

Any pictures by chance? It would be amazing to see that. I saw one of the Red wolf pups chewing on a small garter snake at first I thought it was a piece of hose until I saw the head. It was playing with it not eating it. It appeared to be dead. I am sure it was alive when the pup first caught it. I highly recommended a book called Alphie a Yellowstone Pup I great story of what it is like to grow up as a pup. The story is told by a human but in the third person but the info on the pup is based on observation of the pup I. It’s first year. I could hardly put it down you can go online to Yellowstone Forever online store and get a copy. Just a little Info. 🐺🐾😊❤️

Wow, It's wolfdog (wilczak) - I like all kinds of dog and wolves. In my nearest area in Warsaw ( Włochy) - a young lady have also a beatifull wolfdog from Czech Respublic. This wolfdog (female) is very similar to the beauty of a European wolf.
