whats new?

The camera has been off more than on. Silas and Kinari are in the Ambassadors enclosure and Nikai is in one next to them. Silas and Kinari were aggressive toward Nikai.

I think there trying there best it must be hard to respond to everything well taking care of wolves

I really miss not seeing Nikai. When is a camera going to be set up so we can see him?
He must miss the company of the other two. As he had so much love and interaction with Zephyr and Alawa his siblings who I really miss too.

I feel the same way. I actually donated some money to the webcam upgrade fundraiser a few months ago. Since I saw no signs that the upgrade was happening, I sent an email to the WCC asking if they still planned to replace the cameras. I got no response! I have to say that I am a little frustrated. I do miss our sweet Nikai, and had been hoping that they would find him a companion similar in age!

We appreciate your feedback and sincerely apologize for the delay. We're working on a solution to have a camera in Nikai's enclosure. As the project progressed, we realized that we needed more infrastructure than we had raised money for, and have spent the past months making that happen. 

We know you're all eager to see Nikai, and we're also eagerly awaiting the upgrade and camera install. In the meantime, here's a recent picture of Nikai (pre-snow melt). He's as handsome as ever 🙂

I am sorry you donated but unfortunately we do not see Nikai, to me it is a huge disappointment, I feel since I started to watch all of the enclosures, 8 years ago, a lot of things have changed. I feel sad about the way things are now from what they were back then, not to mention the losses of so many wolves. That is one of the reasons I do not watch the enclosures frequently as I used to back then. I do miss Nikai so much. He had his siblings to play and keep him entertained, sad he is alone in the other enclosure.

I know! I am very disappointed. I almost feel as if they were misadvertising their fundraiser, as it has been months since I donated. They have only replied to 2 emails out of the several that I have sent over the years. The lack of transparency really gets to me. I used to read back in the comments from 10+ years ago, and the WCC was just as active as any other user. When the cameras were down, they offered explanations and apologies right away. They also used to move the cameras a lot more, even 2 years ago when I started watching.

And its annoying to me at least the donate button on the side of the screens and when someone donates it pops up as you are trying to get a snip it of pictures. Oh well. Guess we have to just take to heart the safety of our beloved wolves over everything else. I totally understand your frustration, perhaps others share the same with us.

Hi that's good of you to donate towards a camera. So I suppose a camera wasn't in there when Atka was there.
I feel sorry for Nikai he's always had a family round him. Even though the other 2 picked on him he was only defending himself. I'm sure he needs good company.
WCC don't always reply that is a shame.

I believe they did have a camera on Atka's enclosure, which makes me all the more frustrated! I wish they'd at least update is about what's going on. I haven't been able to get them to respond.

Yeah WCC13 was 3 days late but around I think a year ago his brother Axel passed who looked just like him!!

Anyone know if they're still planning on putting a camera in Atka's old enclosure so we'll be able to see Nikai or Silas and Kinari when they're in there?

I haven't seen any updates saying they wouldn't, so they probably still are

A few months ago they were raising money for new cams but I can't find the link anymore. I think they are still planning to but they haven't gotten to it.

I was wondering how old is Nikai? 13?

He will turn 12 this spring!
