You're right. I'll tell this story not to brag but to re-inforce your point. Mom was a doctor and a good one of the old school. She had studied in Rome, not the US. She had a stupid reason but she asked me to take the MENSA application test. She said she'd do it too. They send you a preliminary test you do at home on the honor system, then if you score high enough, you're envited for more extensive, monitored testing. I passed, Mom didn't. She scored in the almost gifted range but I scored in the top 1% so genius level. I'm a 4 time college drop out. I can count on one hand the classes I had all through school including 4 tries at college, that challenged me enough to endure it. I'm not a STEM person, I'm an artist so that didn't help. I begged to go to an Italian Uni but Mom wouldn't pay for the extra 2 years even tho the overall cost would have been far less.
