So the fundamental premis of this article seems to be directly contradicted by this article.

My question is, if the article about the SR-71 being shot down is correct, what sort of editorial process does National Interest have in place to not continue to publish articles that are entirely wrong and that can be verified as such with a quick Google search?

Boy oh boy have you got your dates WRONG! T he SR-71 served with the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1998 !!!
Not 2013 or 2017!
