Network solutions is awful. They behave like mobsters. If you make changes on your account such as changing the e-mail, they very conveniently lock your domain so it cannot be transfered for 60 days. They say that block it's for 'your security'. In my experience they also charge very high for domains (like 3 to 4 times more) and when you are ready to abandon them they will through fair prices at you so you wont leave. My opinion is that company deserves to be abandoned by everyone who's IQ is over 50

Network Solutions basically does not want to provide EPP code. On website it says requesting EPP would take 3 days to get approved (which doesn't make any sense), and in fact they never send out any EPP code. Instead, you will have to call them and ask for EPP code in person. They claimed that their system had some problems sending those emails, however do you really believe that? I don't think it is indeed a "problem" if it's been there for over one year.

I know this post is a year ago, but I just xferred six domains out of NSI. I got the EPP's via emails almost the full three days after that, but they did come.

Thank you for the information, it has been added to the main article.

Getting the EPP/Auth code of your own domain should be instantaneous. I know of no other registrar, besides Network Solutions, that makes the process so painful. It's a multi-step process to make the request, during which they wave both carrot and stick at you to try and stop you going ahead… and when you do forge ahead, they make you wait 3 days for the code, as if to punish you for daring to ask for the right to transfer your own domain name. What are these guys smoking if they think that's how you keep customers?!

Just unlocked my network solutions domain and requested a transfer. Now I have to wait 3 days. I wonder what roadblocks they will put up?

Hello,

After you requested the Auth Code from Network Solutions, it may indeed take 2-3 days for them to email the code to you. Once you have it, your next step would be to submit the transfer itself on our website here.

At that point, no further actions will be required from you. The transfer process takes 5-7 days to be completed automatically.

The only exception to that rule is that the transfer may also be explicitly accepted or rejected by the current Registrar. You may contact Network Solutions to check if they provide the option of accepting an outgoing transfer.

Should you have any questions - we are here to help.

Thank you for choosing Namecheap!

Best Regards,
Namecheap Team

Network Solutions prohibits the transfer of domains they have registered. In the Whois record, it is expressly stated that such transfer of such domains is prohibited. All the attempts I have made to transfer my domains from Network Solutions had met with brick wall. How do I solve this problem.

Oleg N • 10 years ago

If you refer to 'ClientTransferProhibited' status in the Whois, please mind that this status refers to Registrar Lock feature. It is enabled for domain on the side of the current registrar to prevent the domain from unauthorized transfers. However, the Registrar Lock can be (and should be) disabled before transfer. This can be done either in your control panel with your registrar or directly by them. Please contact them if you need further assistance.

For non-US TLD's such as .es, it is not enough to turn Transfer Lock Off at Network Solutions. They automatically NACK all transfer requests for these TLD's, even if your Transfer Lock is already Off. You must call their Domain Names Support department at 1-888-642-0209 to request a release. You will need to know your Account Number and the answers to your Security Questions.
