I was born in 1951 also. I think the current state of the world is thought to be f'ed up because of lying media and TDS Democrats. I am not going to buy into this moron's thoughts on the world. Where I sit they are pretty good. Of course it is because of my white privilege and being a racist (you know eight years of Obama will do that.) These millennials do not have to worry (yet) about a draft or to go fight in Vietnam in a war that no one tried to win just send young men to their collective deaths. Thank you Lyndon Baines Johnson you POS. I am sure everyone will say "oh, what about Afghanistan." That is voluntary, not conscripted. And, have any of these millennials been told by stupid "teachers" to hide under a desk in case of a nuclear bomb attack. No, stupid teachers today just tell them how bad they have it. F this guy. KAG 2020

Brother_p • 4 years ago

Very well said, I was born in 1944 and agree with everything you said; only I blame politicians, especially democrat politicians, for their crazy spending and ever expanding federal government.

deanbob • 4 years ago

I was born in 1949 and agree with most of your post. I don't think you put enough emphasis on the MSM. Even John Wayne talked about the leftist MSM in his day. And they have only gotten worse - to the point that the credo of journalism schools is almost the opposite of what is practice by most MSM. Thank the good Lord for the internet and the alternative way(s) to get news and verify it.

However, I also believe part of the problem is how kids have been and are being raised; although I don't know that a single generation can be blamed. How so? One example: How long have "participation trophies" been given out? The left probably had good intentions; but the road to Hades is paved with good intentions. One must make mistakes and fail to learn and grow - in every aspect of life.

Oops, I've been silenced again by the machine!" For what, I've no idea. Stupid automated "censorship " ANYTHING "waiting to be approved ..." on this site NEVER is! It's total bullsh*t!

I hope Richard Nixon can apologize for taking the US off of the Gold standard and giving us the "fiat money" that inflates each day. The money has become worth less, and less each year. This is what is the legacy to the millennials. I can not apologize for things I did not do, and do not feel are harming the earth. The leftists, communists, climate changers, socialists, Marxists, Fascists, Leninists, Democrats, Stalinists, and petty tyrants in government are the culprits in the overall scheme of undoing, and they need to be purged from the system.

Allen • 4 years ago

"Purged from the system." Oh, let me think of that. Wonderful I agree with you Fred.

Justin Seine • 4 years ago

That is what started the death spiral that we have been "enjoying" for the last 48 years. Our money is essentially not worth the paper it is printed on and losing value every day because it is now backed not by gold, but by the full faith and credit of a corrupt profligate government.

Greg Miller • 4 years ago

"Global warming..." -- BWAHAHAHA! Sure, OK; we apologize that every single one of the 41 predictions by "experts" since the late 60's concerning the climate/ environment has been spectacularly WRING. I apilogize that we have allowed socialists to corrupt your generation with "progressive" schemes that disastrously murdered over 100 MILLION people in the 20th century. More...?

deanbob • 4 years ago

The thing is that progressives have played the long game almost from the beginning - at least when the came to America. They knew they had to first get control of the education system and replace God with "the state" aka big government. Well, we have a good idea of how well they have done. The current generation has no idea that over 100M people were killed by socialist/communist dictators and regimes in the 20th century (~1900-1999).

Who wants to bet the author of this article not only voted for Obama twice but also approved of the Obama World Apology Tour and the Iranian Nuke deal? Oh woe is me, this loser is like every liberal today, screaming there is no future, we are all doomed! It is a wonder we have made it this far, isn't it? Of course we are so progressive and advanced but yet we will never be able to solve any future issues going forward somehow. If you talk about sea-level rise the "liberal/progressive" can't come up with solutions to the actual problem just that we have to raise all your taxes and submit to global governmental control, and here I thought you could dredge the oceans to combat sea-level rise.

Ice ages have come and gone, presumably because the planet got warmer, but don't tell that to a liberal, they will have none of that kind of talk. If ice ages can wipe out species one could only hope that the coming warming periods that follow could wipe out the ideology of liberalism, which is truly a killer of mankind.

No people do care; but everyone is either looking for someone else to do it or start it, or they're looking to the gub'mint to fix everything.

Betty DeWitt • 4 years ago

I don't know who wrote this but;

The founders of the labor movement viewed unions as a vehicle to get workers more of the profits they help create. Government workers, however, don’t generate profits. They merely negotiate for more tax money. When government unions strike, they strike against taxpayers. FDR considered this unthinkable and intolerable.

Government collective bargaining means voters do not have the final say on public policy. Instead their elected representatives must negotiate spending and policy decisions with unions. That is not exactly democratic; a fact that unions once recognized.

Up through the 1950s, unions widely agreed that collective bargaining had no place in government. But starting with Wisconsin in 1959, states began to allow collective bargaining in government. The influx of dues and members quickly changed the union movement’s tune, and collective bargaining in government is now widespread. As a result unions can now insist on laws that serve their interests; at the expense of the common good.

Union contracts make it next to impossible to reward excellent teachers or fire failing ones. Union contracts give government employees gold-plated benefits; at the cost of higher taxes and less spending on other priorities. The union's alternative to Wisconsin's Gov. Walker's budget was kicking 200,000 children off Medicaid.

Gov. Walker’s plan reasserts voter control over government policy. Voters’ elected representatives should decide how the government spends their taxes. More states should heed the AFL-CIO Executive Council’s 1959 advice: “In terms of accepted collective bargaining procedures, government workers have no right beyond the authority to petition Congress; a right available to every citizen.

Betty DeWitt • 4 years ago

I can only add; Unions have abandoned the private sector and embraced the public sector. FDR stated; "Unions have no place in government." JFK had to make an executive order in 1962 that allowed unions into the public sector to prevent legislation through Congress that was going to not only allow unions in government but also grant them "House Rules!" House rules means that within government agencies that already voted to unionize, every individual employed would automatically become a member of that union after 6 mo.s whether they wanted to or not! And be required to pay union dues whether or not you agreed with the union's positions on issues. House rules were ultimately passed in 1978 thus nullifying President Kennedy's attempt to avert them. Notice how the year (1978) coincides with the decline of private sector employment and the growth of big government, deficit spending and national debt, even under Ronald Reagan. And yes teachers, firemen, and law enforcement officers are all unionized government workers, many of which pay union dues to fund the Deep State. Who do you think formed the Nutzi Party in Germany? Two public sector unions joined forces in an unholy alliance and formed a national party which eventually became the most infamous political party of all time; The Nutzis… National Socialist German Worker's Party or the NaSDAP. Talk about man's inhumanity toward his fellow man!

Slav2012 • 4 years ago

Am watching a construction project going on in a public park. Crew building a steel 2 story building. On YouTube, you see private contractors put up a complete metal building in 2 weeks or less after concrete has been poured and set. Contractor on this job is union and has been at it for several months and hasnt even got the sheet metal up on one side yet.

Bob • 4 years ago

Unions, which INITIALLY brought much needed changes in worker and jobsite safety, etc... have since almost ruined our American industry, with never ending demands for more, More, MORE! In more recent history, unions in education and government are RUINING what USED TO BE one of the greatest public education systems on earth, and is destroying
what little efficiency government at any level had!

Unions were introduced to America in the 30's by two displaced German Socialist's. Most Americans who've embraced unions probably never knew this fact. But look where they're taking us now!

Corruption, inflation, ever-higher prices, less efficiency, less competition for worker excellence, and the inability to remove unproductive or poor workers / teachers. Plus, bloated, unfunded and refundable retirement obligations.

Perhaps "too much of a good thing" as they say ... or is it just that some unions just got too big, too powerful, and of course too corrupt for America's own good! No doubt!

Betty DeWitt • 4 years ago

Also I believe;
Communism failed because the leadership had absolute total control of the socialist system they created for their government, which they then used to enrich themselves at the expense of Russian citizens. They grew fat, lazy, and drunk with power, the very mediocrity that pervades our own government today; thanks to union predominance within our great "Halls of Power." Donald Trump is fighting a "life or death" struggle with that very "Deep State" now. "Public Sector" unions are every bit an evil as czars, kings, and despots. The Constitution is NOT enough; since they are using our own courts, and "the laws of the land" against us. This is nothing new, or surprising, it is merely history once again repeating itself. What is truly unique, and rare is that we have someone like President Trump that is willing, capable, and actually gives a sh*t enough; to do something about it!

The columinst for this article is Jonathan Russo, a political activist commentator for the Huffpost. He comes across as just another typical liberal that hates america, hates successful white people, has totally bought into the global warming hoax, still believes in the failed Obamacare, thinks that government is the answer for all of today's problems and he also appears to have a severe case of TDS.

Slav2012 • 4 years ago

What a crock of a story. This moron of a writer overlooked (intentionally perhaps) that the key cause of the rise in cost of everything is inflation. Concurrently the massive increase in the volume of the regulatory state along with its attendant increase in cost helped. So who sets the table for inflation? Answer: the Fed. In general, the government. Since the recently deceased Paul Volcker is credited with breaking runaway inflation why do we see it still thriving? The answer I personally believe is that politicians somewhere back in the late 70's realized they couldnt tax deflation. From that moment on, it has been a longstanding, but unspoken policy of both parties, Republican and Democrat, to foster inflation. This despite economic theory that deflation and periodic recession are key elements of a healthy economy. In short, the guv'mint wants ever increasing tax revenue and great way to get it is by inflation. And with that comes increases in the cost of everything.

Justin Seine • 4 years ago

And inflation is caused by the fact that our money is backed by nothing other than a corrupt government's ability to tax the people. The house of cards is moving closer and closer to collapse as the people being forced to pay for the never ending increasing size and cost of government eats their incomes alive! Think property taxes, income taxes, sales taxes, personal property taxes, mortgage taxes.....

Slav2012 • 4 years ago

I dont disagree. By the time you add up all the taxes paid, I'll wager it totals out to over half your annual income.

Ken Richardson • 4 years ago

I have read all these comments and agree with most. But bringing it up to now, where we can make changes is the plan. There are simple rules to insure better life. Plan ahead to get jobs that pay in something you like, that is not social dictated. Less government is more effective and far less spending. Plus cost less. Look at candidates who promise you the world as snake oil salesmen. They cannot give you any of that. If the have been there for years and haven't given you that, what do you expect to change? If someone promotes things that they make statements that never happens, it's a snake oil salesmen, i.e climate change. They are becoming millions richer by the money they get off of fraud. You still see snow, polar bears are not on endangered list anymore. CO2 is not your enemy, if there was none, life would cease. This year with highest record of co2, has produced the highest ever output of produce, plant growth and even the giant Redwood trees have spurted. Venice has water issues as it has had for centuries. The ice cap is now according to pictures from NASA is larger than ever. You must seek out truth in action, not just words. Your children will blame you for the mess you left also, bank on that if you continue down the road you think is right now, i.e. genders, socialism/communism, but they will not be able to correct it in their lifetime. Do not buy into hearsay, you will lose more than win.

Turtle Keeper • 4 years ago

Russo I believe you really have missed the whole thing. It seems as though you think the every day person has control of this. Very few families really control all the government and economy. Another thought for you. ANY TIME the government gets involved in anything meaning control it such as College tuition loans or Health Care, the only thing that happens is the price skyrockets up. Went I went to a State Sponcered College the cost was $105.00 per semester which just happened to be 2 times what my father made in his job per week. We were on the low side of middle income. I wonder what it costs today. Healthcare, I have a blood test each month before Obama Care it cost $3.00. It now costs $40.00 for the same damn thing. Go figure. There needs to be Social programs but not to the extent that the giveaway government has done just to gain votes for themselves. The first thing to do is emplement TERM LIMITS The second is to get government out of social program business, and healthcare.

The apologizer does NOT speak for me. Millennials need to look at what they are doing and not doing before making wild accusations. There are problems but not that many are from the boomer age. Quit the blame game.

Jim B • 4 years ago

I think it comes down to one big fat lie told to Mils and Genx, get a college education diploma and the world is your oyster... now several million young adults are unemployed and have no prospects of being employed any time soon. The philosophy, liberal arts degrees, and so many other unless classes got them nothing but a big fat bill, and worse, a government bill that they can never, ever, crawl out from underneath, especially without any job prospects. Worse than that, mom and dad paid their way and got the same results, a big fat nothing. So what do the mile and genx'rs do... nothing, they can't take jobs that are beneath them, brainwashed, and the jobs available they aren't qualified for. No job prospects, no family prospects, no future prospects, just protest and complain about how bad they have it, pathetic!

In the mean time, the 50 to 80k trade jobs like electrician, plumber, construction, machine operator, heavy machine operators, and so many others go unfilled. The few that escaped the lie, like my son now 25, electrical apprentice since just out of High School, now a Forman for commercial electrical company, company truck, no loan debt, making gobs of money. Average age of peer Forman 50. Hire prospects for skilled electricians next to none, they struggle to complete the work load every single day.

Though it is not my regret, I know so many families of the day, and even back in the day when I went to high school who believed the same lie, it's that old. Most never completed, most struggled, and are still struggling to this day to make ends meat.

The guys absolutely crazy. US boomers didn't make all this happen. Everyone made it happen. Are you kidding boomers don't have enough on average to live out their lives. If they drive big cars that's just costing them more and giving them less to live on. It's just very human to see yourself as part of one group and against others. It's what human do very so many years. It's human nature at work.

Issues are managed as in this impeachment going on; upon lies, heavy wallets and fake news. The other way around it doesn't work. This generation must have in mind we had to feed people with inexpensive food then. I got my eng. degree at NY and paid 1,000 bucks per term and I was a foreigner student. Wonder how it went up to current costs- Wonder who was running schools...? Actual generation has lost respect, moral, love 4 their country, etc. What do we expect then. They want to cash in without effort. If we take out fake news, would we have Climate Change? Who is paying for this agenda. Let's reply to the arguments exposed

My parents entered the United States of America seventy years ago, my father and family came from France and my mother from Poland, my parents finished their schooling in this country as their home and school was destroyed during the war. My Parents came to this country as LEGAL IMMIGRANTS, my three brothers and my self are a product of LEGAL IMMIGRATION, I am for LEGAL Immigration, illegal immigration # NOWAYJOSE. Growing up my parents worked several different jobs, my father ended retiring from the New York State Police, growing up my brothers and my self started working at an early age, I never looked at people that were better off than we were with disdain, I knew the decisions that I made would determine what my life would be as I got older. If you see your life as a steaming pile, look in the mirror and see what part you played in your life being what it is.

The second part of this nonsense article is the millenials themselves. Arrogant, entitled, first to cry over the environment yet unable to do anything more than symbolic gestures. Btw...aside from the odd incident like Flint or the Animas River in CO, overall air and water quality have been improving in this country . That is of course where local governments have a modicum of competency in managing public utilities.

Us Baby Boomers achieved all that we have by earning it. We didn't get participation trophies. We didn't get told that we were all winners. We got kicked in the butt and told to straighten up and fly right. Of course that was in an era where our money was backed by gold and the USA was a lender nation and not a debtor nation. People saved for the things they needed or wanted. We saved for college and worked the whole time we were students. We didn't borrow - We EARNED. When I was feeling the downside of life my father kept reminding me that pain was nothing more than weakness leaving the body. To the millennials I say "Grow a set, suck it up and stop pointing fingers!" Get to work! You will be amazed at what you can accomplish if you put your all into it.

Apologize?
Horse feathers!
They should be damned grateful.
No polio, no world wars, medicines and machines that sustain and improve life.
-
With every thing humans do there are pros and cons.
Eventually humans work out the bugs in the meantime the youngin’s of this world reap the benefits.
As with other past dire predictions, “Climate Change” can be solved with technological advances.
Climate Change should be viewed by youngin’s as opportunities.
We need less Greta Thunberg’s and more engineers, scientists and visionaries.

It started with the creation of the FED 100 years ago and then all the socialism starting in the 1930's. The Baby Boomers only fueled the fires and the government doesn't have a clue about fixing anything. They have always been the enablers.
