I've seen solar operations. Yes, they do work on cloudy days, but not nearly as efficiently, and they don't work at night. By contrast, hydro works 24 hours a day. Batteries last for years; dams for decades. And wind is sporadic. Common sense (mostly lacking among radical environmentalists) would dictate using a combination of energy sources, including "fossil fuels," rather than placing undue hardship on those who can't afford these expensive alternative energy sources.
