That first bug is definitely evidence that I was lazy writing this post and didn't bother even searching the bug tracker 😣
Also, I shouldn't be surprised, but the fact that it's from 2014 still took me by surprise. I mean, here we are, three major releases later...

This is a cool technique for ppl to know. Good stuff sharing it.
The thing you mention about CF in the footnote certainly is a bug, yes: https://tracker.adobe.com/#.... I recommend ppl vote for it.
There is also a feature request in for CF to add a callback as the value argument, to allow the initial values to be more dynamic: https://tracker.adobe.com/#.... Poss also worth some votes.
