Hello, i have a MB pro 2018 16" for CSGO only, i play on 1400 x 960 res and all low/lowest, the most FPS i get is 100-150, im looking for an eGPU that will help me boost it up to 300-400 fps, thanks

Daniel • 1 year ago

Well, I have no personal experience with eGPU enclosures, so I can't speak to how smoothly they'd work in this situation. But in theory, anything at least at the level of the RX 6650 XT should be able to hit the FPS figures you're aiming for in CS:GO at minimum settings.

Hey, i am planning to get a PC, my price range is about 1500-2000$. I will mostly be playing CSGO but i might try call of duty and Apex from time to time. I dont care about graphics, so i will be playing on minimal settings on every game... Do you guys have any PC recomendations that will get me at least 300 fps on csgo ? (PS: it doesnt need to be pre-built) THANK YOU!!!

Daniel • 1 year ago

Well, a max budget of $2000 should be enough to put together the current 'Exceptional' tier of our main build chart, which we would expect to be capable of 400+ FPS in CS:GO (even at 1440p).

See, for instance, a very similar machine being benchmarked in the following video:

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Gousthan Bournoville Le • 1 year ago

Thank you so much, but i am a little bit confused... I have read on alot of sites that CSGO was a cpu based game, but you are showing me a build with an I5... I am pretty new to pc's, isnt I5 like a bad CPU ? how could an I5 get such high fps on csgo? Thank you for your response

Daniel • 1 year ago

Ha, no, don't worry; CS:GO performance does depend heavily on the CPU, but an i5 is not simply a bad CPU.

There has been an i5 in every generation of Intel chips since 2009. The i5 from back then is now terrible by modern standards, whereas the i5-13600K in our current 'Exceptional' tier released less than 2 months ago and is one of the best gaming CPUs ever made.

Now, don't get me wrong; if you can afford a balanced build constructed around a 13th-gen Intel i7, 13th-gen Intel i9, or 7000-series AMD R9---then that would be better. But for reference, a 13th-gen i5 is more powerful for gaming than even the best 12th-gen i7 on the market (the i7-12700K). So, you definitely don't need to worry that a system is bad because it has an i5.

Hi Guys! i've got a ,,quick" question for you guys.. so i dont really know mich about PC's but im Looking to get a Pc in the Price range of about 2.5k and its basically gonna be needed for CS:GO Only! what specs would you guys recommend me for the PC to play it on over 240 fps with a 240hz Monitor

Daniel • 1 year ago

Well, there's some good news for you: your requirements for the machine are considerably easier to meet than you seem to be expecting! A PC that can run CS:GO at 1080p with max settings at a consistent 240+ FPS can be created for less than $1500 (by being at least at the level of the 'Excellent' tier of our main chart). That'd leave a huge margin in your budget with which to invest in your desired monitor, mechanical keyboard, and gaming mouse---with some money left over.

As a matter of fact, even bumping the requirements up to accomplishing the same at 1080p ultrawide or even 1440p by building something like the 'Exceptional' tier of that same linked chart should still come in under $2000 for the tower itself.

Using that whole budget just for the PC would put you in the neighborhood of the 'Extremist' tier, and at that point you'd be looking at 200+ FPS (possibly even 240+) in CS:GO with maximum settings . . . at 4K.

pompano • 1 year ago

these are my new pc specs

cpu : amd ryzen 7 5700x
gpu : amd radeon rx 6600
ram: 16gb ddr4 ram, duel channel
1 nvme ssd, 500gb
1 sata hdd, 2tb

what would this rank on your pc recommendation chart? is this good enough for 30+ fps, 4k on AAA games?

Daniel • 1 year ago

A PC with an R7 5700X and an RX 6600 would be roughly on-par with the current 'Great' tier of our main build chart (in particular, having a slightly better CPU and a slightly worse GPU than that tier).

Since you've set the fairly modest goal of 30 FPS, the answer should be 'yes.' We would expect that system to be able to provide a consistent 30+ FPS in most AAA titles with high settings, even at 4K---with the only exceptions that may frequently dip lower being some very recent and/or poorly optimized titles, like Cyberpunk and Elden Ring. But as for CS:GO, even at max settings on 4K that system should be staying above 100 FPS most of the time.

i like tf2 • 1 year ago

do tf2 next

Daniel • 1 year ago

As a fan of TF2, I'd love for us to have a guide about it! That said . . . we usually only create new guides for recent releases that are relatively hard for modern PCs to run, and TF2 is basically the opposite of that. So unfortunately it's not a very likely candidate.

What fps do you think I would get with a R5 1600 +1660 ti +16gb of ram?

Daniel • 2 years ago

A PC with an R5 1600 and a GTX 1660 Ti would roughly near the 'Good' tier of our general build recommendation chart, so in CS:GO at 1080p we would expect it to be capable of 144+ FPS at maximum settings, or 200+ FPS at minimum settings.

Mike • 2 years ago

Hello, I have the specs Cpu-Ryzen 9 3900x
and Gpu-rtx 2080 from Nividia and i played 16:10 with 960x980 resolution with ~260fps i have an 280hz monitor and i dont know what to do anymore cause i tried evrything ln the resolution to other settings should i change to an intel cpu or an other gpu a newer cpu or something?

Daniel • 2 years ago

Hmm, that's odd! As you can see from the video linked below (which shows tests on a similar system at 1440p), you should be able to expect an average frame rate well above 400 FPS in CS:GO at low settings. Are you playing at max settings in the game instead? Otherwise, the fact that the FPS you're seeing is so close to the refresh rate of your monitor does make me curious: is V-sync or any other form of frame limiting enabled---either in-game or in your GPU Control Panel?

Marcus • 3 years ago

Hello, I am looking to buy a PC. My video card will be RTX 2060. I need to choose between the 2 CPUs. i5 10400f and i7 10700 or is there any better CPU at the same price range? Could you tell me the average FPS on high and low settings with each one? Can i really feel a difference if I would choose i7 10700? If yes then how big would be the difference? I play on 64 tick servers with 1280x960 resolution. Thank you!

Daniel • 3 years ago

To answer the first question, I would need to know what prices you're seeing for those two CPUs in your region. In the abstract, the i7-10700 would undoubtedly be better than the i5-10400f, by nearly 10%. It's not an enormous difference, and I'm unable to give you an account of the exact FPS variance between them because it's such a specific situation. But what I can tell you is that a PC with an i7-10700 and an RTX 2060 should have overall gaming performance that is roughly comparable to (or slightly better than) the 'Great' tier of our general build recommendation chart, so we would expect it to be capable of providing 200-400 FPS in CS:GO at 900p with maximum settings, or 400-600 FPS with minimum settings.

Marcus • 3 years ago

Thank you for the answer! So the i7 CPU would be 182 euros more expensive.
Also is amd better choice for gaming? If yes then what similar (price range (- or + 50 euros) )AMD proccessor you would recommend (compared to i5 10400f)?

Daniel • 3 years ago

Theoretically, yes, the most recent AMD CPUs (Ryzen 5000) are superior for gaming. The nearest superior to the i5-10400f from the newest lineup is the R5 5600X. But in practice, the availability of those chips is currently so bad that the only way to acquire them is for hugely inflated prices from 3rd-party resellers. If you're willing to step back a generation on AMD, a closer match for the 10400f in terms of price and performance would be the R5 3600---although, even then, price inflation is still a factor, albeit to a slightly lesser degree.

Simon • 3 years ago

Hello, I have the following specs but still only have avg 240 fps, sometimes the fps goes below 200 which isn't good since I use a 240hz monitor.
Specs: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070
AMD Ryzen 7 2700x Eight-Core Processor

Do you have any tips on what I should buy to get 350+ fps avg? Should I buy the intel core i9-10900K?

(Playing with lowest settings and on 4:3 1280x960 resolution)

Daniel • 3 years ago

As CS:GO is such a highly CPU-driven game, it is likely that a CPU upgrade would indeed yield improvements. In particular, while the RTX 2070 is slightly better than the GPUs in the current 'Excellent' tier of out general build recommendation chart, the R7 2700X is closer in performance to the R3 3100 in the 'Entry' tier of that same linked chart when it comes to single-core performance (although the R7 wins handily on multi-core performance, which is less important for gaming). Something like an i9-10900K would bring the entire system up to the 'Excellent'/'Outstanding' level---and could even be overclocked to some degree, to ensure even better performance.

Simon • 3 years ago

Thank you for your respond. Would the AMD Ryzen 5 5600x be a good change? Do you think that would take me over 350 avg fps? Or do I need to buy the i9-10900k for that.

Thanks in advance.

Daniel • 3 years ago

Theoretically, the answer may be yes, but that would be a large jump in performance to expect out of a 15-20% CPU improvement, and there isn't yet enough benchmarking data available about that chip in CS:GO to answer with certainty.

mannix mx • 3 years ago

Core i5 10400F, 16GB RAM, 480 GB SSD, RTX 2060 6GB

can a pre-build pc with those performances run CSGO at 240 fps with maximum graphic settings?

Daniel • 3 years ago

Maybe, but possibly not consistently at max settings, if you're playing at 1080p or higher. In particular, a build with those specs would be similar in overall performance to the 'Very Good' and 'Great' tiers of our our general build recommendation chart, either of which we would expect to be capable of consistently providing 144-200 FPS in CS:GO at 1080p with maximum settings, or 200-400 FPS with minimum settings.

John Antony Castro Guerra • 3 years ago

Hello, I have an intel i5 10400f cpu that graphics would you recommend me to play at 1080p and take advantage of a 144 hz screen? Low cost please :(, preference gpu nvidia, thanks

Daniel • 3 years ago

A balanced choice for the i5-10400f would probably be something like a GTX 1650 Super or an RX 5500 XT. But if you're looking to cut costs, you may want to consider getting an RX 570 instead. A PC with an i5-10400f and an RX 570 should be capable of 90-144 FPS in CS:GO at 1080p with maximum settings, or 144-200 FPS with minimum settings.

John Antony Castro Guerra • 3 years ago

Or buy a EVGA GTX 1660 TI SC ULTRA 6GB

John Antony Castro Guerra • 3 years ago

so,if i buy a i5 10400f and,for example, a EVGA GTX 1660 SUPER SC ULTRA GAMING 6GB GDDR6, i'll can take advantage a 144hz monitor? Also,Do you believe i'll can to sell this GPU EVGA in two or three years (approximately) for change it a other best? (talking of CSGO)

Daniel • 3 years ago

Going with a GTX 1660 Super or GTX 1660 Ti would put you close to the 'Good' tier of our general build recommendation chart, so we would indeed expect such a system to be capable of consistently providing 144+ FPS in CS:GO at 1080p, even at max settings.

As for whether you would be able to resell the GPU in a few years, the answer is less clear. You will probably be able to sell the device if it's in good condition, but the price you get for it will likely be much lower than the purchase cost was---and if it's 3-5 years from now, the item may sell quite slowly due to the 2+ generations of newer cards that will have released by then.

John Antony Castro Guerra • 3 years ago

Ok, so, is this pc good?:
-EVGA GTX 1660 SUPER SC ULTRA GAMING 6GB
-i5 10400f (i dont know heatsink with fan buy)
-Gigabyte z490 gaming x
-RAM kingston (2x8) 2666 mhz
-SSD kingston A400 480GB
-power supply (500W or 600W?)80+ Bronze ( I saw your page ("our general build recommendation chart") i believed whit a of 700W 80+ Bronze was good(thinking to future, change GPU ), what do you think?
PD:My english doesnt be so good :(

Daniel • 3 years ago

Yes, that looks good!

If you want an aftermarket CPU Cooler, maybe you could consider the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition.

For the power supply, anything from 500 Watts upward should be fine. Since you're planning on upgrading in the future, yes, 700 Watts could be a solid choice.

Francisco • 3 years ago

Hi! I have an Intel i3 8100 and I play with the graphic included. I want to play at 144 fps comfortably. Should I buy a dedicated graphic or just with an other cpu it would be fine? My budget is $400

Daniel • 3 years ago

A PC with an i3-8100 and its UHD Graphics 630 iGPU would fit in between the 'Desitute' and 'Poor' tiers of our general build recommendation chart in terms of overall gaming performance.

But if you add a discrete GPU (even one that costs far less than $400, like an RX 570), you could bring the whole system up to at least the level of the 'Modest' tier, which we would expect to be capable of 90-144 FPS in CS:GO at 1080p with maximum settings, or 144-200 FPS with minimum settings.

If you want to put that whole upgrade budget into the machine to get the best results possible, though, you could consider purchasing both an i5-8600K and either a GTX 1650 Super or an RX 5500 XT. That would bring the whole machine up to slightly above the 'Fair' tier.

jack williams • 3 years ago

Looking for a build for around 1000$, averaging 200 fps, as i want to use a 144hz moniter . Is this possible?

Daniel • 3 years ago

With a budget of $1000, you should be able to build as high as the 'Great' tier of our general build recommendation chart; in CS:GO at 1080p, we would expect that tier to be capable of 144-200 FPS with maximum settings or 200-400 FPS with minimum settings. But anything consistently above 144 FPS should provide a very smooth experience on a 144Hz monitor.

How much Fps i can expect for this laptop ASUS ROG STRIX G712LU - i7, GTX 1660 Ti, 512 GB SSD, 144Hz. Please suggest. Thanks

Daniel • 3 years ago

A PC with an i7-10750H and a GTX 1660 Ti would be roughly comparable to the 'Good' tier of our general build recommendation chart, so in CS:GO at 1080p we would expect it be capable of 144-200 FPS with maximum settings or 200-400 FPS with minimum settings.

I am building a pc with ryzen 5 3600 with rtx 2060 super with 3200mhz ram will I get 300fps constant or do i need to overclock cpu and tune memory timings to gain that last bit of 1percent or 0.1percent low fps like because I am competative player I grind game 6-8hours a day.Can anybody help pls?Edited:or I have a option to go intel but I don't know how would i5 10400 would compare with ryzen 5 3600&i5 costs more too with Mobo as well and will I get higher fps if I go intel i5 10400 like 300 fps constant on medium to high settings on low resolutions.

Daniel • 3 years ago

You should probably be able to stay above 300 FPS with that build. In particular, a PC with an R5 3600 and an RTX 2060 Super would be comparable to the current 'Superb' tier of our general build recommendation chart in terms of overall gaming performance. For reference, in CS:GO at 1080p, we would expect that tier to be capable of 200-400 FPS at maximum settings or 400-600 FPS at minimum settings. The i5-10600K could do somewhat better and would bring the whole build up to the 'Excellent' tier of that same linked chart, but wouldn't change those FPS brackets mentioned earlier in this comment.

RRV Gaming • 3 years ago

Thank you for the suggestion Daniel but here in India the CPUs you of intel are badly priced like i5 10600k in 25000 rs which is 350$ like super expensive even locked it 10400 is 40-50 $ high in price than 3600 so should I go ryzen I will be playing at low resolutions and 1080p max but will I get above 300-400fps consistent. And yes I thankyou for helping.

Daniel • 3 years ago

Yes! Like I said in the previous comment, a build with an R5 3600 and an RTX 2060 Super would get you great results.

Equinoxdini • 3 years ago

You should get a average framerate of about 325fps.This can vary greatly by your location and the direction you are looking at. The i5 10400 performs similarly.

Badr Tazi • 3 years ago

Hi Daniel. You are doing a fine job!
I'm looking forward to build a computer with rtx 2070 super, which cpu do you suggest : i7-7700k , i7-8700k, i9 9900k, or i7-10700k ?
Do you think would it make a difference between rtx 2060 and rtx 2070 super in low settings? I need to save money for 240 hz monitor haha..
The computer will be mainly for cs:go, 1280x1024 4/3 , for competitive gaming.

Daniel • 3 years ago

CS:GO is unusually CPU-dependent (and relies even more disproportionately on the CPU when playing at a low resolution like the one you've mentioned), so of your listed options I'd recommend going with the i7-10700K. There likely wouldn't be any noticeable performance difference in this situation between using an RTX 2060 and using an RTX 2070.

Equinoxdini • 3 years ago

A 6600K is enough for 240Hz. Best Intel offerings currently:
• i3 9100F $75
• i3 10100 $130
—too weak for steady 240fps—
• i5 9400 $165
—borderline—
• i5 9600K $195
• i5 10400 $205
• i7 10700 $335
AMD:
R3 1200AF $80
—too weak for steady 240fps—
R5 2600 $145
—borderline—
R5 3600 $175
Every other higher end Zen 2 part

Even a RX570 would enough for 1080p 240fps, but a 2060 would give you 240fps in almost any situation and good performance in other games. There isn't a big difference between the 2060 and 2070, but it would be only noticeable at max ultra settings or higher resolutions.

Badr Tazi • 3 years ago

Thank you for your reply Equinoxdini.
I think I made a choice :
I7-10700k
Z490 mobo
Rtx 2060 super
Xl2546S 240hz

hi there! what about this setup for csgo (what kind of fps i can expect?), and some editing with adobe (Lightroom/photoshop)?
ryzen 5 3600
rx 5600xt
16gb (2x8) ddr4 3000MHz
512GB ssd

is rx5600xt needed or something like gtx 1660 is sufficient?
