Is 8GB RAM is enough for Fortnite?
i have ryzen 5 3600 + GTX 1650
Should I upgrade CPU and GPU for 1080p with max settings fortnite (100% 3D + Native + RT (60 FPS) Without RT (120+ fps) ???
How many vram for max settings fortnite 1080p?
What i shoud settings for gtx1650+ ryzen 5 3600??

Daniel • 2 months ago

8GB should be enough for Fortnite, yes. It's listed as the minimum in the official specs, although 16GB is listed in the recommended specs there.

A system with an R5 3600 and a GTX 1650 should be capable of about 70 FPS in Fortnite at 1080p with high settings, but less than 50 FPS with absolutely everything maxed out.

For 120+ FPS at high and 60+ FPS at max, you'd likely need a system at least at the level of the current 'Great' tier of our main build chart.

Alternatively, to hit 120+ FPS with your current hardware would require dropping to 'competitive' (low) graphics settings in the game.

Forgot to mention that this is for gaming and recording, maybe a little video editing, but nothing else.

S1gnalflare • 4 months ago

This is a question about competitive Fortnite and what monitor you think will work.
-RX 6700 XT
-Core i9-12900K
-G.SKILL Z5 32gb 6000mhz RAM
-Crucial P3 Plus 1tb (5,600 mb/s)
No hard drive
-750w 80+ GOLD PSU if that matters.
The reason I have a 12900K is because it is in a bundle from micro center. The deal is worth it, though it might be bottlenecked. ($400 for RAM, MSI Tomahawk z790 WiFi, 12900K)
I am going to be playing high settings on 1080p. Do you think it is worth it to get a 165hz monitor, or will I not get enough FPS to take advantage of that?

Thanks!

S1gnalflare • 4 months ago

Sorry. I’ll be playing on medium settings, nothing crazy. :)

Daniel • 4 months ago

You are correct that the GPU is likely to be the limiting factor in the system you've just described, but an RX 6700 XT should still make for a terrific experience in Fortnite at 1080p.

In particular, we'd expect a system like that one to be capable of staying consistently above 200 FPS with 'competitive' (mostly low) settings, or above 50 FPS with ultra settings; averaging over 60 is conceivable with ultra, but would depend on the contribution of the CPU as the only benchmarks I've seen for the 6700 XT in Fortnite pair it with a lower-tier processor. So, obviously in the former situation you'd even have plenty of headroom for recording while still maxing out a 165 Hz monitor, and in the latter situation you wouldn't.

But the case of medium/high settings is a harder thing to address, as most benchmark sites cover only the maximum and minimum configurations for online competitive games. Unfortunately, that means I can't say with confidence whether a 165 Hz monitor would or wouldn't be overkill for that situation. But I will say that I'm almost certain that playing on medium settings and recording can be done while consistently maintaining an average FPS above 60.

oops i used nasa computer oh well i got 1000fps or more

Hi, I am planning to buy a PC for my son for his gaming. I have zero knowledge on specs etc. Can you give me the best specs for these games- Fortnite, Valorant, Apex Legends and CS GO. Thank you!

Daniel • 2 years ago

Those are relatively easy games for modern hardware to handle. If your son will only be playing on 1080p and targeting 60+ FPS, then a build at least at the level of the 'Fair' tier of our main build chart should be able to handle everything just fine.

Archie • 3 years ago

Hello 👋, I would like to build a pc that can get consistent 144 fps on low settings 1080p. What would be the cheapest option?

Daniel • 3 years ago

Fortnite is a relatively easy game for a PC to run, especially at 1080p with all minimum in-game settings. As a result, we would expect you to be able to stay consistently above 144 FPS under those circumstances with a build at least at the level of the 'Fair' tier of our general build recommendation chart.

jay • 3 years ago

what pc can i use for 200+fps on competitive settings

Daniel • 3 years ago

Are competitive settings all low other than draw distance at 1080p, or all low other than draw distance at 720p?

For 200+ FPS in the former situation, we'd recommend at least the 'Very Good' tier of our general build recommendation chart. For 200+ FPS in the latter situation, though, you should be able to drop down as low as the 'Modest' tier of that same linked chart.

jAy • 2 years ago

yes 1080p

Daniel • 2 years ago

Ah, in that case, our recommendation is (if possible) the 'Very Good' tier or higher.

Archie • 3 years ago

Hi,I'm looking to build a pc that can run at around 100 FPS on low settings on Fortnite.i want something that quite cheap,is there anything you would recommend?

Daniel • 3 years ago

Since you're willing to play at low settings, that should be fairly easy to achieve due to the solid optimization of Fortnite. In fact, even the second-lowest tier of our main build chart that features a discrete graphics card (which is the 'Modest' tier with an RX 570) should be capable of providing a consistent 100+ FPS in Fortnite at 1080p with low settings. If you're willing to settle for 60 FPS and/or 720p, you could even drop down to the 'Entry' or even 'Minimum' tier.

Karson • 3 years ago

does the modest computer handle recording games like fortnite and minecrafe? all i really want is for the computer to handle OBS studio tbh

Daniel • 3 years ago

At some level, yes, that should be possible. Those games are not especially difficult to run, so even 1080p recordings may be possible with hardware encoding if you're flexible on in-game settings. In particular, a 'Modest' tier build would be comparable in terms of gaming and recording performance to the 'Budget Streaming' example build from our streaming guide.

Joseph • 3 years ago

Wow! Those sliders were some next-gen tech! I really found this helpful. If I play on a 4 core 3.6ghz cpu, and a rx 570, am I in the modest tier or fair tier and how much fps would I get on Epic settings?

Daniel • 3 years ago

I'm guessing you're talking about either an i3-8100 or an i3-9100f. As such, with an RX 570, your performance in Fortnite would likely be somewhere in between the 'Modest' and 'Fair' tiers---yet we would expect it to probably get the 60+ FPS in Fornite at 1080p with max settings that we list for the 'Fair' tier above.

Joseph • 3 years ago

Thank you! That helps!

Equinoxdini • 3 years ago

It depends on the CPU you are using. You would probably be in the modest tier. If you have a 7th gen or newer or Zen+ or Zen 2 you will get ~65 fps.

Joseph • 3 years ago

Thank you for your answer.

I am build my first PC (CPU MC Base Gamer Ryzen 6.36x -Ryzen 5-3600X 3.8GHz 4,4GHz, MOTHERBOARD B450 AORUS M,GPU AMD RADEON RX 5700 PULSE GDDR6, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz, Samsung 256GB SSD M2 NVMe + 1TB SEGATE HDD, 700W Thermaltake SMART RGB SUPPLY, LC-Power Gaming 703B ,I would like how much frames i can expect on fornite 1080 p ....I looking to buy monitor 144 Hz Full HD...is this enough?

Jovan • 4 years ago

or maybe to take for GPU (Radeon™ RX 5600 XT, 6GB DDR6).Thanks in advance.

Daniel • 4 years ago

A PC with an R5 3600X and an RX 5700 would be at the level of the 'Superb' tier of our general build recommendation chart, so we would expect it to be capable of 90-144 FPS in Fortnite at 1080p with max settings. (And it should be able to stay mostly above 144 FPS at medium/high settings.)

Jovan • 3 years ago

Thanks. Can expect the same fps with rx 5700 xt and ruzen 5 3600x or increase?

Daniel • 3 years ago

There should be some improvement there, as an RX 5700 XT is 5-10% more powerful than an RX 5700 (would move the whole build closer to the 'Excellent' tier of that same linked chart).

Jovan • 3 years ago

Daniel,i have still one question.
I would liko to buy 144 hz monitor (ips panel.1 ms) .How much framerate range is enough for normal playing in that monitor?in example call of duty i have 100 fps its enough for normal playing? Thanks in advance ...

Daniel • 3 years ago

Theoretically, any frame rate above 60 on a 144Hz monitor should feel smoother than it would've felt on a 60Hz monitor. But if you play some games on that monitor which run consistently above 144 FPS, then you could be bothered by the 'lag' of lower FPS, just as if you fell below 60 FPS on a 60 Hz monitor. So ultimately it's up to you. Also, if the monitor you're considering has G-Sync (or at least FreeSync), then this issue will be further mitigated as the monitor will automatically match its refresh rate to your FPS when below 144.

Jovan • 3 years ago

Is need to have fps untill 144 fps or more ?

Devin • 4 years ago

I am building my first pc with AMD ryzen 5 3600 with Cooler Master MasterLiquid Cooler, 16gb 3200mhz ram, Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB M.2 ssd and 2tb segate Hdd for storage, 700whatt gold power supply, Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING OC 6gb and MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC Motherboard. I was wondering how much frames I would get on fortnite 1080p gaming

Daniel • 4 years ago

A build with an R5 3600 and a GTX 1660 Super would fall in between the 'Good' and 'Very Good' tiers of our general build recommendation chart, so we would expect it to be capable of 60-90 FPS in Fortnite at 1080p with max settings.

Devin • 4 years ago

thanks how much fps would I get if I had these settings:
3d resolution : 100%
Distance: Medium
and everything else on low

Daniel • 4 years ago

Well, those are much lower settings than max, so the FPS figures would be a fair bit better than what I mentioned in my previous comment! Haha. Sorry for not being more specific, but all of our compiled benchmark information is for playing at max settings, as finding reliable benchmarks for any given hardware configuration with mixed settings options is much harder and less consistent.

Devin • 4 years ago

Would it be able to run a capped 240fps

Daniel • 4 years ago

As I said in my prior comment, I am regrettably unable to give you a clear answer to that question.

Devin • 4 years ago

Ok Sorry For bothering you

Daniel • 4 years ago

No bother at all! I hope you can find enough info about your prospective build plans to be confident that it will suit your preferences.

Devin • 4 years ago

Ok One last question will I fall under the silky smooth and how much fps would I get if I upgrade to 3700x and rtx 2060 super
Thanks?

Daniel • 4 years ago

Yes, you would! A build with an R7 3700X and an RTX 2060 Super would be at the level of our current 'Excellent' tier, which we would expect to be capable of 120+ FPS in Fortnite at 1080p with max settings.

Devin • 4 years ago

??????

Devin • 4 years ago

How much would I get if it was a 1660 super and r7 3700x

Daniel • 4 years ago

That would be a bit imbalanced (with a more powerful CPU than GPU), but it should have overall gaming performance near to the 'Great' tier, so it would still be able to hit 90+ or maybe even 100+ FPS in Fortnite at 1080p with max settings.

Star On • 4 years ago

I am building my first PC with AMD ryzen 3 2200g, 8gb ram 120gb SSD for gaming & 1tb HDD for storage and I want to know if it will run smoothly (playable not like Intel 620 HD graphics) on ryzen 3 2200g without any lag or frame drop.
(I want to know about without external GPU means with Vega 8 graphic only)

Daniel • 4 years ago

A build with an R3 2200G and no dGPU would be at the level of the current 'Poor' tier of our general build recommendation chart, so we would expect it to be capable of 30-45 FPS in Fortnite at 1080p with max settings. In other words, that PC should be capable of running Fortnite smoothly (above 60 FPS) at 1080p---provided you are willing to crank down the graphical settings to achieve that.

TKE CLAN • 4 years ago

i want to buy a new laptop how much fps will i get with this specs:
1920:1080 120 hz 15,6
cpu: amd ryzen 5 3550h
ram: 8gb ddr4 2666 mhz
hdd: 256GB PCle SSD
gpu: nvidia gtx 1650 (mobile)

Daniel • 4 years ago

A build with an R5 3550H and a Mobile GTX 1650 would fall somewhere near the 'Entry' tier of our general desktop recommendation chart in terms of overall gaming performance, so we would expect it to be capable of 45-60 FPS in Fortnite at 1080p with max settings.

Ludwig Selinder • 4 years ago

1070, 550W PSU, Ryzen 5 2600, 8GB RAM 2666mhz. My memory is running at high percentage while I'm playing fortnite so I think the problem why I get so much lag in endgames can be caused by that...What do you think can cause it because as I see the cpu isnt bottlenecking it. Do I need to upgrade to 16Gb ram im getting tired of this fps lag....
