There is no need for a "national policy". Canon law is quite explicit on this matter, and such persons are to be denied the Eucharist--Regardless of rank or anything else.

Michael W Parle • 2 years ago

Quit the procrastination - bishops, just get on with it and do you job. As Jesus intended you to do.

Michael W Parle • 2 years ago

It being Wimbleton season in London, England, I am reminded of the infamous shout of US Tennis champion John McEnroe when frustration hit him -
"YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS."

This can now be said loudly by the USCCB bishops as they act like uneducated children!!

Every boy and girl on reaching the age of 7 - "have reached the use of reason" and can participate in the catholic education programme to worthily receive the Eucharist from the priest; their First Holy Communion.

What does "reach the use of reason" actually mean.
In simple terms they know the difference between Right and Wrong.

No one can convince me that every single one of the US hierarchy:

▪︎ 36 archbishops.
▪︎144 diocesan bishops and
▪︎ 67 auxiliary bishops
does not know this difference.

Further, they know that any of the1.3 billion Catholics in the world with serious/grave sin on their soul cannot go forward and receive "the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ."
For if they do; or if a priest knows this then a sacrilege is committed by both.

This is where this whole hoohah now rests.

Next move? -
- Catholic Joe Biden?
- Catholic Ms Pelosi?
- The USCCB?
- Mr. Biden's bishop?
- Ms. Pelosi's bishop
- The Pope?

Until these these two politicians repent and confess their grave sin(s) they do not possess the "grace of God." That has very serious consequences.

I do not wish either of them ill, but it goes without saying that if they die in office (Biden 78 & Pelosi 81) they can give a full account directly to Jesus Christ who will be personally overseeing their "Final Judgement."

God's judgement is wise, merciful and just. No human has ever rejected this final assessment as anything but truth.

I believe, for the sake of their souls in eternity, please repent of your serious sins and return to the grace of the Triune God - before it is too late.

And to both bishops I advise you to speak to Messrs Biden and Pelosi urgently, before you are implicated in their grave errors.

May God bless all 4 and my prayerful hope is that they take sound and sensible decisions, for the sake of their Almighty God.

Sincerely

From an Irish Catholic.

People need to start boycotting Mass. And boycotting giving. This is the only way to get these feckless 'leaders' to do the right thing.

Proudmomof13 • 2 years ago

I am thoroughly disappointed in the bishops we have. I do hope each Bishop in their own Diocese's make it clear what action they desire from their priests. Then we will all know where the wolves are.

bestgrandma2011 • 2 years ago

ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!!!!!!!1 No wonder people are not going to church or looking for another church. WE HAVE TO STICK TO TRADITIONAL RULES OF THE CHURCH.

Is there a list of who voted which way?

BitsyGirl • 2 years ago

Can you imagine what the Apostles and Saints are saying in Heaven about these spineless “shepherds?” They are the hirelings of which Jesus spoke.

Ron Roy • 2 years ago

This is how these weak Bishops will be judged
''Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’
will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’''

patk • 2 years ago

Cowards. Some things are not debatable. Church leaders used to know this. What will they be willing to give up next?

AlBigDog • 2 years ago

So Bishops in effect tell the faithful that you can make up you own mind regarding this and any other issues. Are you kidding?? Do your job or resign!!

bestgrandma2011 • 2 years ago

I do believe that JOE has been denied Communion in the state of NC.

savetheusa2 • 2 years ago

It stated this in this article. It's awful to have to state, this Priest was courageous. It shouldn't have ever become this way. Excommunication should have been used more in the past. It would have been broadcasted to us through the media and Catholics who don't know their faith and doctrines would have figured out what it meant. (They wouldn't now, because they think they know everything because some of our Bishops sow confusion). Kind of like when many parents were horrified when Clinton said his famous 'is' statement. Kids were asking what was he talking about. Teaching moments, I would say. USCCB is no longer teaching us doctrines we could easily find in the 'Catechism of the Catholic Faith.' That is where I look to see what my faith teaches. USCCB are not in unity nor are they consistent. This document will undermine those who don't know or believe that the Holy Eucharist is really the Body and Blood of Christ, and so-called politicians will be let of the hook. They'll say it doesn't pertain to them. They still think poverty and immigration that seems will never be addressed with equity (as opposed to equality - taking money away from one and giving it to another) is the number one priority as opposed to the protection of innocent human life.

BitsyGirl • 2 years ago

Maybe he will stay away from NC.

bestgrandma2011 • 2 years ago

I forgot to say, Pope Francis I believe told the bishops to LAY OFF JOE BIDEN - he likes him and hated Trump.

Neville S-J • 2 years ago

Francis Bergoglio,,the Church's equivalent of your Obama...all form and no substance.
.

Ron Roy • 2 years ago

Pope Francis is a Jesuit and the Jesuit order from it's very beginning has been a militaristic order who's goal was to have a one world government under their control..

scragsma • 2 years ago

That's OK. I don't think we need a "national policy". All we need is for all the bishops to adhere to the already-existing "policy" of canon law.

Ron Roy • 2 years ago

That existing '' policy'' is not enforced. Too much money at stake. Got to keep those contributions flowing no matter what the cost in human lives are..

Marty Frank • 2 years ago

Compare the number of human beings abortion has killed with those who perished in the Holocaust. Hitler killed less people. I wonder if the bishops would have allowed him to receive communion? What if Biden decides that it's ok to kill babies up until the age of two--would the bishops still allow him to receive communion? What if Biden says that anybody over 80 can be killed, since they take up too much of the earth's resources and they already have lived long lives? Would he still be given communion? Do the bishops believe that pre-born lives are human lives? They support Black Lives Matter, which backs abortion of black babies. Wouldn't killing black babies make Biden a racist? The bishops are shooting themselves in the foot--they are planning a year-long campaign on the importance of the Eucharist, but are ok with mass murderers like Biden receiving and profaning it. Back in the day, the Pope condemned the slave trade, but failed to excommunicate Catholic monarchs whose nations participated in it. The same with abortion--a great light to the world in condemning it, but not concerned enough to punish Catholic leaders promoting it. Greatly disappointing. And I've seen Biden and Pelosi state that they have in effect received "permission" to receive the Eucharist by the Pope.

Chas Lue • 2 years ago

I believe St John Chrystom said that the road to hell was paved with the skulls of bishops. God have mercy.

kennethhenson • 2 years ago

Jesus instituted the Eucharist at The Last Supper. Was Judas still at the table?

qoheleth • 2 years ago

I always thought that Judas left during the meal but before Jesus instituted the Blessed Sacrament. I believe that matter is ambiguous in the four Gospels. I cannot imagine at that first Mass that Jesus would give Himself to Judas in a state of mortal sin. That is my take on the issue.

kennethhenson • 2 years ago

There is still "Your will be done, not mine" in the Garden.

qoheleth • 2 years ago

I do not understand how that applies to Judas's receiving Holy Communion. Sin is never God's Will.

kennethhenson • 2 years ago

It was God's will that Jesus would sacrifice Himself. Judas exercised his free will to betray Christ before he was given the thirty pieces of silver.

Diane • 2 years ago

Yes he was, I questioned that myself. Jesus told him to go and do what he must do after he received the Bread and Wine.

kennethhenson • 2 years ago

So there is precedent for people who take the Eucharist with no intent of honoring what it requires.

Diane • 2 years ago

Well, he had not yet committed the sin until he kissed Jesus, later in the garden and handed Him over. So, I am not sure that is true.

kennethhenson • 2 years ago

But he had already committed to betraying Jesus.

Diane • 2 years ago

Well, he went to Hell in the end, didn't he? At least that is what we have been told.

kennethhenson • 2 years ago

I cannot say he was sent to hell. God is very forgiving. I do think it is possible Judas may have a lengthy time, maybe eternity, of the worst experiences he had when he lived. That could be hell.

savetheusa2 • 2 years ago

Judas sin wasn't so much as betraying Christ, it was because he believed he could not be forgiven and killed himself. That is the sin against the Holy Spirit. It is a MORTAL sin.

BTW, Jesus has taught us that their is a Hell. He says this because His Justice demands hell for anyone who does not follow Him or His teachings. If you are not following Him, then you are following the Devil. For instance, if you don't attend Mass, but go to sporting events, you have placed sporting events above Him. He demands love, but He has given us free will to decide whether to love and serve him or love and serve oneself. Satan is loving you for thinking about yourself and not even believing in him (Satan). He's gotcha if you don't repent and change your ways.

kennethhenson • 2 years ago

Have you run that by the USCCB, or Bishop Gregory? They seem very forgiving of Pres. Biden's 'devotion' to the RCC and his decision to disregard one rather important tenet of faith.

Diane • 2 years ago

God is also just. That was beyond a grave sin that Judas committed. None of us can ever assume that God will look away at any of our sins. The gates into Heaven are very narrow. The gates into Hell are very wide.

scragsma • 2 years ago

Sure. But it wasn't something approved.

kennethhenson • 2 years ago

Free will.

Ray Andrews • 2 years ago

When Biden was asked weeks ago about being denied Communion, he answered: it ain’t gonna happen.
How did he know?

BitsyGirl • 2 years ago

Does poor Joe even recall what Holy Communion is?

M5guitar1 • 2 years ago

So basically the "good" bishops might say something, but do nothing to stop bad politicians and the bad bishops will keep on desecrating the Eucharist. Nothing has changed. Heaven have Mercy.

npay • 2 years ago

Well, most of the Catholic Bishops wont enforce or embrace a ‘national policy’ on Communion for pro-abortion politicians, however, many of these Bishops will order their own dioceses to throw out and threaten arrest for those parishioners who do not adhere to their "Almighty Marxist Covid Religion Mask Mandates"!!!!!!
Indicates where their true priorities are.
Pray for us Blessed Mother.

kennethhenson • 2 years ago

This appears to be heresy, but the ACC apparently has a different opinion. The RCC does not seem to care. It is too sad Hilaire Belloc is not here to witness this development. It would be an appropriate addition to his work.

Nancy Janzen • 2 years ago

It is more important that we reach the 70% that dont understand the real meaning of the Eucharist with a true understanding. I include most if not all Catholic politicians in that 70%.

M5guitar1 • 2 years ago

I'd say 100% of Democrat politicians and Democrat laity and clergy.

Borghesius • 2 years ago

I would include a number of Catholic bishops in that 70%.
