Unfortunately but true this guy is our only choice besides Trump. We will have to work with him going forward like Martin Luther King had to work with a number of unsavory including Commies, LBJ, Black Extremist, White Racist Moderates, ect...

Bob Pattinson • 6 years ago

Just who are these liars trying to kid?

Bill Haffey • 6 years ago

What about his actions as Governor of Indiana, his support of "religious freedom acts,' which legalized discrimination, his support of jailing same sex couples who applied for marriage licenses, his transferring of fund from HIV/AIDS prevention programs to conversion programs. His continual hate speech. Do people remember the demonstrations on the state house lawns in Indianapolis, the NCAA voting not to hold any Championship games in the state unless the laws were changed, companies moving out of the state. But then again there is not a member of the Trump Administration who is any better on human rights issues.

Pence made these remarks 18 years ago! Hello! How many of us said things almost 20 years ago that we'd never agree to today? I'd venture to say ALL of us who are old enough to recall who we were 18 years ago. Also, his remark does not explicitly say conversion therapy, even as this article concedes, "it really looks like."

The problem with many in the GLBT is that they are so emotionally traumatized by the Trump Administration, they can't be objective about anything that may be ambiguous at best. I am not saying Trump and Pence are pro-GLBT, but let's criticize from the facts and not from our emotions.

Nina Trygg • 6 years ago

the problem is that they not only still think the same as 20 years ago

but they think the same as 200, 2000 and so on years ago

conservatives are the status quo to be overcome

Marla R. Stevens • 6 years ago

Your defense of Pence is akin to Cotton and Perdue's defense of Pres. Shithole and, as their willful blindness makes them complicit in Trump's racism, your defense of Pence makes you complicit in Pence's intense homohatred. Pence's support of antigay psychological torture is not his worst antiLGBT stance, either. He has openly stood with the state's American Family Association lobbyist who has called for our genocide.

Mandrake • 6 years ago

Yet again, another rabidly emotional reaction that has NOTHING to do with my original comment. This is why the GLBT is so woefully unprepared to help elect a pro-GLBT candidate in 2020. They are blinded by their emotional trauma that Trump is POTUS.

Nina Trygg • 6 years ago

the republicans are still not over obama and think Hillary is secret POTUS

the republicans do not offer a pro anyone else anything

Bill Haffey • 6 years ago

I don't suppose you remember the demonstrations on the lawns of the State House in Indianapolis over the "religious freedom laws" he supported. That was less than 3 years ago. How about remembering his sponsoring a law to jail any same gender couple who applied for a marriage license. That was less than 4 years ago. What about his cuts in HIV/AIDS treatment funding transferring that to conversion programs. That was during the last 4 years. Perhaps you should learn your history, before you post.

Mandrake • 6 years ago

My comment had nothing to do with your reply. I commented on the specific issue of this article. Go back and read my comment, particularly the last sentence. Again, you reacted emotionally rather than what I specifically wrote. Perhaps you should read more carefully before you post.

Bill Haffey • 6 years ago

You comment attempted to pant the comments in the article as being trapped in the past. They are not. These comment were made in the past, that is true, but they have been repeated in the present. If, as you stated they were things stated in the past and he would never agree with today, why is he repeating them today? If he regrets the comments of the past, and he and Trump are pro LGBT+, why are they supporting bills and state laws which support discrimination against LGBT+ folk, in a mistaken interpretation of "religious freedom, one that was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court over 40 years ago? If they are pro LGBT+ folk why has their HHS Department just delivered guidance which allows medical professionals and first respomders to NOT treat people because of their "lifestyle?" You really should read your own posts before you try and read someone else.

Mandrake • 6 years ago

Again, another emotionally reactionary comment based not on evidence but on opinion to satisfy an anti-Trump sentiment. Where have they been repeated in the present by Pence??? I did NOT say he and Trump are pro-LGBT. GO back and read my original comment!!! READ correctly!

Nina Trygg • 6 years ago

lgbtq are being oppressed by the religious righteous

the details of who said what matter little when the supreme court is broken and legislation is being passed against groups of demographics

learn history and understand what's happening now

Operation Paperclip is the best place to start your research

NoisefulPain • 6 years ago

Those things are facts, not fictional allegations. Why are you denying recent history? You claim these are 18 year old positions (not that they were fair then, btw)

Mandrake • 6 years ago

Go back and read my original comment!

Mandrake • 6 years ago

And yet AGAIN, another emotionally reactionary comment based not on the facts of THIS ARTICLE, but on an emotionally charged reaction to the Trump Administration. This article is on Pence's current stand on CONVERSION THERAPY! It is not based on his "enacted law" on conversion therapy unless you can provide that evidence that he did.

TJR101 • 6 years ago

Oh please. Rippon was spot on. This administration is openly hostile toward LGBT rights. Whether it was said 18 years ago or yesterday is moot. With someone like Pence I’m sure he still holds these views, the coward just has to stay silent about it in 2018. You’re either naive or just a deplorable Trump supporter to not see this.

Mandrake • 6 years ago

Yet another emotional reactionary. You stated no evidence that Pence still believes in conversion therapy. You are a classic example of what I commented about in my second paragraph. Deal with FACTS and EVIDENCE rather than autopilot because it's the Trump Administration and they're anti-GLBT.

TJR101 • 6 years ago

Pence hasn’t said anything lately on conversion therapy because he can’t it’s 2018 and his views are unpopular. If he had any courage or conviction he’d come out and state what he truly believes not hide behind some template response.
Oh you want facts? What do we know for sure? How about their push for so called “religious freedom” laws. How about their failed attempt to ban transgenders from the military. Now they’re looking to protect healthcare providers who want to refuse treatment based off of religious beliefs.
But of course keeping going Trump apologist.

Mandrake • 6 years ago

Your facts have nothing to do with Pence advocating conversion therapy. "Pence hasn’t said anything lately on conversion therapy because he can’t it’s 2018 and his views are unpopular." That's an OPINION.

TJR101 • 6 years ago

Well Trump apologist can you prove that he doesn’t hold these abhorrent views anymore? Isn’t it a fact that he hasn’t condemned conversion therapy or is that just my opinion?

streips • 6 years ago

Mike Pence and Donald Trump lying? Who'd'a thunk it? :)

Nina Trygg • 6 years ago

does Mike Pence ever not look constipated?

Caitlyn Haiku • 6 years ago

Or like he has a large butt-plug up his rectum?

streips • 6 years ago

I have always written that Pence has a morality stick shoved so far up his ass that he probably can't tie his own shoes.

Caitlyn Haiku • 6 years ago

He probably needs his "mother" to tie them for him. As far as a "morality stick", I'd call it a "bigotry stick" as there is nothing moral when it comes to Pence.

streips • 6 years ago

That's another way of putting it, but his priggishness is based on morality, not bigotry. One way or another, he's a jackass.

Nina Trygg • 6 years ago

yes, he has way too many sticks up his bum

Nina Trygg • 6 years ago

also he's got that just smelt something look

The only one pence is gas lighting is himself if he thinks anyone is stupid enough to believe a single word that farts from his lying mouth.

And make a truly joyous noise unto their lord.

Caitlyn Haiku • 6 years ago

Nina Trygg • 6 years ago

it is weird that they do not realize that we recognize them as predators

and are not fooled by them

Chutney • 6 years ago

So true. They're caught up in their own lies so deeply that they think we're persecuting them as we fight to be rid of their hate and oppression. It's a classic bully becomes the victim mentality.

Nina Trygg • 6 years ago

also they are convinced that they have fooled us

even as we tell them, we can see and hear and know what has happened before

Chutney • 6 years ago

They live their lives in a mirror lined echo chamber, filled with loud speakers playing recordings of their own voices back at themselves.

Nina Trygg • 6 years ago

yes, and confused why the people don't respect their oppression

Chutney • 6 years ago

They've loved in a 'god given rights' bubble for so long that they really do seem to believe that we are attacking them by fighting back against them and demanding that we have our rights too. They are the school yard bully getting angry because their victims are fighting back.

Nina Trygg • 6 years ago

given the overlap between the domestic abuse checklist and the deity/believer relationship, is it not surprising how they confuse threats and control freaking with loving

Chutney • 6 years ago

that and the way they were taught that the righteous would be persecuted for their faith. they actually think they are the ones being persecuted. the irony is thick enough to hammer.

Nina Trygg • 6 years ago

they act like they have not been the lion feeders for centuries indeed.

funny how John Lennon was forgiven before Galileo

Chutney • 6 years ago

They've been in an echo chamber of their own construction for roughly 2000 years. It's no wonder they can't recognize the truth when it bites them.
