It's true. Even today, the primary reason racist white people want to carry guns is so to make sure that black people cannot rob or rape them.

Until the most brutal practices of the KKK and the police were stopped in the 1960s, most racist white people didn't fear African Americans and didn't care whether concealed handgun carry permits were available. (Quite the contrary, it was African Americans who feared white people, forcing most to act in a deferential manner towards white people.)

But those social changes made is possible for black people to rob white people, even repeatedly, without doing serious prison time (much less being lynched). To this day, racist white people just cannot accept black people taking advantage to claim for themselves social justice and reparations for the past centuries of oppression.

But now, between higher rates of imprisonment and liberal concealed handgun laws racist white people are trying roll back this advancement. They think that merely ending their own oppression of black people ought to suffice, and still refuse to take what's coming to them.

Your argument is that white people have good reason to fear black people?

I don't think it's really important to my point whether fear is justified, or whether fear is even involved. I think it's more a desire to assert what they consider to be a right not to be robbed -- and they refuse to make exception for when the robber is from a disadvantaged or historically oppressed group..
