Very well said. Sir we are following our mentor the mighty USA. The gay life life style is spreading like wild fire in the US. Some school children in the US are confused to who they are. Not sure if they are gal or bowy because your gender at birth no longer define who you are. The Supreme Court is corrupted as judges taking bribe and gifts from billionaires. The attack on black history, racial tensions and mass shootings are the order of the day. As Bob Marley once said " you think you're living in heaven but you are living in hell". Jamaica is part of the hell we are living in.

Mark Chue • 10 months ago

The US Supreme Court is corrupted?? Having generous friends in not corruption simply because the media says so. Look at the facts and don't allow desperate partisans to poison your mind. Where is the evidence that Black History is under attack? We can thank Obama for elevating racial tensions and FYI mass shootings are predominantly perpetrated by blacks against other blacks. You are the type of voter who is unable to connect the dots in making an informed assessment of issues.

My recent trip home from Fort Lauderdale was an eye opener. The plane was full and I could hear languages from every corner of the globe. I saw African passport , as well passport in Arabic and other places. People are travelling more and are taking with them their religions, customs' and culture. The thing is our people are not sophisticated enough to discern those that are good and not so good before embracng them.

Mark Chue • 10 months ago

"My recent trip home from Fort Lauderdale was an eye opener"...saaay whaaat? Seems you operate on a different definition of "home"...lol. I am pretty sure the immigration forms you filled out contradicts that

Chapter 1 • 10 months ago

our people are not sophisticated enough to discern ,,,,,,,

My brother , our people dem have become the pestilence we were warned about from an ancient time .
Lets use the parish of Hanover to make a case in point : Both the Ramble and Kingsvale police went year after year after year without reporting a single solitary murder within their PD . Then gun trading happened .
Today and sadly , even the most remote village within the parish know a gunshot victim or the relative of one , most ah dem black , all Jamaicans or visitors . From Axe & Adze to Burnt Ground to Copse to Dias to Zion Hill , shot ah buss n people dead .

As one can see, statistically, Christianity does not necessarily equal prosperity or even a peaceful country, nor does the lack of it mean that a country will be impoverished and violent.

Work ethic, morality, opportunity, national identity, and an efficient and just legal system, are much stronger drivers of prosperity and peace than Christianity, or any other religion for that matter.

Note: the most peaceful and prosperous countries in the world are NOT Christian, but actually ATHEIST. While I’m in no way advocating for atheism, I also recognize that what Christianity in Jamaica used to do is to make people fearful. Fear of what would happen to wrongdoers in the afterlife was what brought persons into line. Christianity no longer conjures up that fear. There is however a #FOMO (fear of missing out) on the prosperity that millions can now see others enjoying, thanks to the internet.

Lemon • 10 months ago

True although Haiti and Papua New Guinea are exceptions in the Christian list, both very impoverished and violent.

Yes sir! The book of Revelation is being fulfilled...the Lamb is starting to speak like a dragon...The dragon is giving power to the beast...."we need to get back to worshipping God" says the beast...we need to observe the true Sabbath (Sunday) ....the Sunday law will soon be passed...and God's true worshippers will be prosecuted for disobeying the laws of the land...observing Sabbath instead of Sunday....we see the plan Holung...Revelation 14 : 6-12 tells the story..." Fear God and worship him that made heaven and earth (including the Sabbath) for the hour of his judgement has come!" Babylon system must fall! along with the pope and the papal system of worship.

Dela vega • 10 months ago

marel i have read all these comments here but i chose specifically to single out yours because of it's content and the only reason why i did is because you are speaking my language here.

I am a turn-back SDA worshiper but i still believe in the overall message of the church. The time is swiftly approaching for that 'Sunday law' to be pass. The churches across the globe are now more closer to the world than before and that includes the SDA.

Leaders over time have come into the organization with diluted messages and watering down the true message of the church.

Ellen white's writings are now clearer than before and we must believe the time has now come where the true church will only be found within you.
Babylon will fall and is already falling and nearly all the churches across the globe are getting in line.

God's people on the other hand will only be identified by their fruits as the body which is temple of the living God will now be the light of the world that shines brightly even in a very dark world.

Teach our children to face reality, and stop believing in fairytale.

Really • 10 months ago

You are partially right here. People are moving away from the churches because they have lost faith in the church leaders who are also rapists, crooks, adulterers, thieves, etc. Also their demand for tithes is too much for people to find in this harsh economic situation which the world finds itself.

Clirey • 10 months ago

If anything, religion teaches people to be deceptive, arrogant, hypocritical, selfserving , hostile to people they can't control.
I stay far from them!

fatherforesight • 10 months ago

I think we were instrumental in the fight against apartheid in South Africa which SOME; successes were achieved.
Is it possible for us to replicate something like that again? Have we the LEADERS and assistance to do just that again?
But as Father Ho Lung says
: EVIL IS NOW GOOD and GOOD IS NOW EVIL.
Just yesterday I had a discussion with some of my associates and I stated that NOTHING will change until we highlight ALL THE WRONG DOINGS and deal with them openly. And this needs the cooperation of THE PRESS.

Hogwash! What is going on in Jamaica IS the norm for 'religious countries'. Stop from mek it seem like religion, violence and corruption nuh walk hand in hand.

According to the United Nations’ Global Study on Homicide, of the 10 nations with the highest homicide rates, all are very religious, and many — such as Colombia, Mexico, El Salvador and Brazil — are among the most theistic nations in the world. Of the nations with the lowest homicide rates, nearly all are very secular, with seven ranking among the least theistic nations, such as Sweden, Japan, Norway and the Netherlands.

Now consider the flip side: peacefulness. According to the nonprofit organization Vision of Humanity, which publishes an annual Global Peace Index, each of the 10 safest and most peaceful nations in the world is also among the most secular, least God-believing in the world. Most of the least safe and peaceful nations, conversely, are extremely religious.

Keep fooling unnu selves dat unnu need more religion fi solve unnu problems.

RE: The homicide stats. Independently rated crime risk is a strong barometer of homicide and cuts out a lot of the record-keeping problems between countries.

Countries that have a US DoS 'do not travel due to crime' status for the whole country (currently 10):

1. Afghanistan
2. Burkina Faso
3. Central African Republic
4. Haiti
5. Libya
6. Mali
7. Somalia
8. South Sudan
9. Sudan
10. Venezuela

If their homicide rates really are higher than these countries, it seems odd that none of Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador and Mexico are on there.

A weekly column from Father Ho Lung would benefit this nation more than much of the useless diatribes confusing the people.

This is a misguided prayer. It is an appeal to emotion and not based on biblical Christianity. All true Christians know that evil is what gives Jamaican society (the world) its characteristics. Since the Church exists in the world, then it is the Church that is the light of Jamaican society. If the Church is corrupted or not SHARING the Good News of Christ with the sinners of Jamaican society, then Satan wins.
The world is producing sinners, but the Christian Church is no longer the salt of the earth or the light to the sinful world.
Satan is now in full control of the Church. The Church is committing mass suicides and has become very political. The Church used to back slavery and slave masters, but it hasn’t learned from its mistakes, so today it is backing political candidates who even by the world’s moral standards are highly immoral. Christians are mocking sinners who have children out of wedlock. It is extremely difficult to identify Christians today because they are all worldly and ignorant of the message of Christ.
Christianity is not cultural. Jamaica is not and cannot be a Church. The Church exists within the sinful Jamaican society, but it cannot force its will on the people of the World!!!!

In my youthful days the true rastafarians was the target of the "CROWN" and "WHITECOLAR CRIMINALS" got away with everything now we end up in what situtation we are in now I remember rasta had to live in the hills and only come to the community at nights living like futigives , many Church leaders have themselves to blame they condone many of these affairs, and we are asking ourselves where did we go wrong "SAD"

Chapter 1 • 10 months ago

Father Ho Lung made no mention of the wryghin priest nor the welfare of the young victim ; dat bad Father , very bad .

Any nation that turns away from God is a nation doomed.

Bahama242 • 10 months ago

If by "doomed" you mean a low crime rate, stability, high levels of prosperity and fairness and low violence, then I guess you are right.

Dee • 10 months ago

How? Sweden, Japan, Norway and the Netherlands are among the least theistic nations in the world. Everytime I read/hear about these countries, it is ALWAYS something positive. Jamaica is among the most theistic countries, everytime I read/hear something about Jamaica, it is ALMOST ALWAYS negative (the raping and murdering of underage girls, scamming, etc.) Why do people like you refuse to accept facts? Religious countries ARE crime ridden countries.
