This has got to be the stupidest thing that I have ever read. Did the dog say anything about the rockets?
Do you think that getting the dog high is a good idea? Before you do anything, I think that the dog needs to go-in for a a complete psychological examination. He might be suffering from cat-related PTSD or an unresolved chewing compulsion. If that's true, he'll need Xanax and maybe even Abilify.

Now, it's the second stupidest thing ever! Your brilliant insights make it clear that it's not the dogs who need a "complete psychological examination." Or "Xanax and maybe even Abilify."

Steve,

There's a more serious issue. Allow me to explain. I'm 56 years old, and when I was a kid we had several dogs. Whenever we had to take one of the dogs to the veterinarian, it cost around fifty dollars. If the dog got too old, we would have him euthanized. It was the normal thing to do.

But nowadays, a simple visit to the veterinarian costs three hundred dollars. If they have to actually do anything, the cost can easily go up to a thousand dollars. People are wasting incredible amounts of money on their pets. There are people who will actually delay purchasing food for the family, so they can pay for the cat's cancer medicine.

I know what you would say: People are free to spend their money however they choose. And that is correct. But our value system is so screwed-up that people value their pets more than they do other people. A dog is just a dog. It doesn't qualify for any medical treatment that causes financial hardship for the family. And when a dog dies, it shouldn't be compared to the death of a human. It's just a dog.

That's why I'm opposed to giving psychological medication to dogs. It's just the first step in convincing the owner that the dog will need all kinds of expensive treatments.
First, it's medicine, then it's blood work, then it's diabetes..................
Pet owners get caught in a financial trap from which they can never escape.

To single men...or gay men...who don't understand or can't appreciate the lure of and love for a women. a reasonable, or at least understandable manifestation of their views can best be expressed as "a woman is just a women." Ditto man's best friend...an expression whose roots lie in the same kind of lure & love for a dog. I trust when it comes to dogs, you are the equivalent of single or gay.
