I know Ayelet is very popular and also pretty- a vote getter. So yes it may be a very bad move by Bibi. and unpopular but proper decision if they didn't get the votes.

It makes me sad to Israelis so divided at time when they really need to take advantage of a strong position Vis-à-vis USA support.

Don't worry- this election will bring Israelis together like never before. We are seeing the end of an era and the beginning of a better one.

In America, some complain that we have a two-party system, as no third or fourth party can get enough traction to matter, most of the time. Only rarely can a third party candidate get enough votes to undermine a major party candidate. Some say that's good, some say it's bad. In the parliamentary system, such as the Knesset, or British Parliament, small parties can have a significant impact. But that still leaves the argument that, in a case like the New Right, more harm is done than good. I have no say in Israeli elections, but I like Shaked and would fit to the right of Likud if I were in that position. However, it is my hope that you are correct, and that the greater good is served by more unification. I would think Bennett and Shaked would benefit by joining together where their separation from like-minded parties has only cost them to date.

Not a perfect comparison, but what the UK's Nigel Farage achieved with a new party in six weeks has not worked for Bennett and Shaked. Maybe it's time to accept that reality, at least in the coming election.

Britain has a First Past the Post system while Israel has proportional representation. The two cannot be compared. The Conservatives in the U.K. have a minority but an Irish party is backing them. Such a party is regional in nature and can win a number of seats in a small area. For those you don't like proportional representation as being dysfunctional and giving too much power to marginal parties, Israel is the gift that keeps on giving.

As I said, it was not a perfect comparison. Your "Irish" party is actually British, given that it is Northern Ireland, as much a part of Britain as is Scotland or Wales in terms of the population, mostly of Scots and British descent. They are rabidly loyal to the Crown, and not wanting to be associated with the Republic of Ireland. But they do have a regional interest due to their border with the Republic. The parallel I was trying to draw is that, from what I can see, any ruling party in either the UK or Israel needs to build a coalition with smaller parties with at least some parallel goals, in order to become the ruling party and elect a PM. While the distinction you make is important, and I have no argument there, I don't think that invalidates my point. And to be clear, I was not advocating one system over another, be it the UK, Israeli or American. Although I am a little biased to the last, being an American, I am very pro-Israel, with a definite fondness for both England and Ireland as well. I was merely noting where I saw distinctions and common dynamics, even within different systems. Sometimes, putting short term goals aside for the bigger, shared goals is prudent. Conversely, sometimes a principled stand takes precedence, even if the consequence is losing a seat. I can't judge in the case of Shaked or Bennett. They made their choice, and got shut out. Given the record so far, I merely suggest the possibility that they may do better allied with a similar party stronger than their own, which is what the post I responded to seemed to advocate. As I said, Farage pulled off a miracle of sorts last month, with his brand new Brexit Party. Different dynamics, definitely, but since that didn't work for New Right, maybe a different path is worth considering.

Wonderful news!! Now please New Right and Zehut (and any other party which is affiliated with Nationalist Zionist [Religious] aspirations, JOIN together!!!with the Block; I predict such a Block could win the majority.
(This does mean putting all differences aside and focusing on the General Principles which unites them all.)

Yes and that would be the principals established by God! Leave Him out and Israel dies! Meir Kahane is dead, long live Meir Kahane!!!!

Amen!! Rav Kahane of Blessed Memory; History will prove/is proving His prophecies correct. The time will come when he will be properly honored.

As for the principles- yes!! that is exactly how Mosaic Law instructs us how to form government. But as we're not all quite ready to fully accept a Torah- Law driven country for various reasons, it's better for people to find this form of government naturally on their own; we can always show them later that this was prescribed in Mosaic Law. To those who do see; don't toot your horn- this is a delicate process of self discovery which will be long lasting if it comes from the heart and mind of each individually. This is what Zehut means by Identity. Not imposed but freely entered into because of the feeling /understanding of it's authenticity.

This phenomenon of "discovering" the right way to do things in Israel is fascinating for me to see- it's most clear to me in the Religious Nationalist Settlements- the young Settlers seem to have The Law programmed genetically some how. Baruch HaShem.

PS: You might have noticed that it's possible to discuss this without mentioning HKBH outloud.

It seems odd to me that I haven't read any analysis of why the New Right fell short in the last election, though I have a guess or two. Nonetheless, no one seems afraid that they might try again and succeed. I thought they had a good platform and good people, though I was not confident about Bennett's leadership. Perhaps a bit of restructuring would succeed better, though even better would be confederations of the Right *before* the election. It needs to be less about the candidates and more about the policies.

You can only understand the big picture at this time if you understand that some "outside force" has decided to intervene and now we have a paradigm shift of enormous proportions. We will see if Israelis are up to task of taking advantage of this opportunity.
