Netanyahu is perfectly correct! Liberman is no longer a right-wing leader. His obstinacy will be met with great tribulation for his party. And in the end, Netanyahu will prevail.

I thought that Netanyahu would be able to form a new government, despite Liberman's atrocious obstinacy. But then I remembered that even king David had some drawbacks when king of Israel.

Such a waste of money. Liberman is just pouting and doing his best to make everybody miserable for his being embarrassed during his fail time as Defense Minister.
I Stand With Israel
God Bless You

He was exploiting is position and had nothing to lose. He has a solid voter base. He looks better when he's unwilling to negotiate. "Its my way or the highway" mentality is what his constituents prefer.

.. exactly what was liberman trying to accomplish.. to change.... what purpose.. what objective.. what goal..?

he was offered the crown jewel of government jobs.. the ministry of defense.. not enough.. the other 2 rookies .. gantz & lapid ... together do not have 1/10 of the experience of Netanyahu..

Rivlin promised a solution.. lets see what comes about..

Dear punch_corona,

Please forgive my ignorance because I've only just picked up on this story? But I have a question for you: do you think that ultra orthodox Jewish men ought to be prepared to serve in combat roles in the IDF? The reason I ask this question is because it seems to me that their political party is amongst the most hawkish, which as we all know can lead to wars. Should this section of the community not be fully prepared to defend the results of their warlike policies?

I can't see any religious reason why they should not serve in combat roles. Moses would have had little chance of winning all those battles against the Cana'anites and other 'ites' had his people turned down combat roles on religious grounds.

they should all serve.. the question for liberman.. is there another way to resolve this..? will new elections change this exclusion..? or will it continue..?

This second election is a once in a life time opportunity- it's a Miracle!! Don't you see?

bev • 4 years ago

you keep saying that it is a miracle. could you explain what this miracle is-------is it to unseat Netanyahu and put in weaker parties who would give the country away. I just cand think why this is a miracle

Yidith • 4 years ago

Israel was drifting- the Government wasn't taking care of security- a year and a half of thousands of incendiaries and hundreds of rockets on the border communities- hundreds of terrorist attacks mainly throughout Judea and Samaria and around Jerusalem without any significant action by the Government- the people had become numb and hopeless that anything would change- they felt they had been abandoned. Protests were lackluster and ineffective. Bibi ruled the roost and sat far removed in his ivory tower pretending that he was doing something.

Even though there's a clear understanding by the majority of Israelis of what needs to be done - Annexation Judea Samaria (an end to military law) and the retaking of Gaza just to mention the two biggest problems, there didn't seem to be the will or the courage by the politicians to implement the solutions.

Then we had an awful election where people felt they couldn't afford to vote their conscience or conviction because of the threat Blue&White posed when they surged in the polls. Basically the voter was stuck between a rock (B&W) and a hard place (The do nothing appeasing politics of Bibi). So everybody held their nose and voted for Likud. After the election there was a general sense of futility- a hopelessness.

People regretted their vote and all wished they could take it back or do it differently.

Then the miracles happened: Israel burning shook people awake and made them question their own apathy.
Lieberman's heart was hardened to the point where he seemed to be helpless to save himself. He made a complete fool of himself.
Bibi was shown to be a vain incompetent weak scared little man - incapable of making the simplest compromise nor could he form, what seemed at first to be a simple coalition. His "invincibility" mask was ripped off- I believe by HaShem.

And so it leads us to the biggest miracle- the once in a lifetime opportunity to make right what was wrong in the election. This time with knowledge of the results and this time with B&W, Bibi and Lieberman all exposed as phonies.

Who would have predicted that we could change direction and find renewed strength and commitment in such a sort time?

NOT weaker parties!!! I don't know where you get that idea?? We are going to see a huge majority made up of the many parties in the coalition of the Right/Nationalist/ Religious Zionists. HUGE!!!! Shaked will get in and parties like Otzma Y will get many more seats. Likud will still have 10-15 seats and Blue and White will be decimated. WE will see a whole new generation of leaders appear.
THAT is what will happen.

still trying to figure this one out.. Israeli politics a bit beyond comprehension.. in the
league of Latin American politics..

Yidith • 4 years ago

Yup- life in Israel is beyond comprehension only if you don't acknowledge the "X" factor. Every time it looks like the whole thing is going off the rails- that all is lost- HaShem intervenes and changes happen at dizzying speed to put it all back on track again..... usually better than before.
That's why I've learned to look for patterns when trying to figure out why things are happening;

G-d does usually work in mysterious ways until "He" doesn't!

We have just witnessed a direct intervention- a loud and clear wake-up call!- making sure we all realize who's in charge here and which direction we are supposed to go according to the divine plan.
Now that that has been cleared up- everything has become simple if we just follow the instructions.

Yom Tov.. !

It's in the Torah that the religious fight for the land of Israel. King David fought Goliath, Joshua fought, there is no excuse.

Yidith • 4 years ago

No excuse for what?

Aurella • 4 years ago

They need to fight for Israel.

Kicki • 4 years ago

Or just need to start to realize their powerfull God that is very eager to establish His Kingdom soon. But first as is written in the Books, the opponent will come and fool many and reign for 7 years, destroying much of all the good things. After 3½ year of his governing he will change his mind and make the exact opposite as he'd said he would. There The Allmighty One will come in and take us home !!<3 !! It is all written in the scriptures.

Kicki • 4 years ago

I am so sorry that Netanyahu still hasn't changed his religeous choice. If he'd just turned toward the very G'd of Israel and asked Him for guidance and inspiration things would have been so much easier, for all involved.

I'm saddened for the people of Israel that they have to undergo another election. I am afraid that without Netanyahu, Israel will not be much longer. Some of these other parties will give away the rights of the Jewish people to remain alive and in their G-D given homeland. With antisemitism on the rise worldwide, there will be another Holocaust and this time, the Jews themselves will be to blame. G-D save the Jews, because they don't seem to want to save themselves.

Madeleine Donaldson • 4 years ago

This is very sad as at the moment Israel is under constant threat from surrounding hostile forces and anti Semitism is on the rise. Israel needs a man like Bibi to hold the fort! I am convinced that there is interference from the One World Dis Order (Don't negate Obama and Soros interfering) He interfered before!

agnes losonczi • 4 years ago

This one liberman should pay from his own pocket instead of the citizenry of Israel. While I'm by no means happy about the charedi draft dodging, to tank the recent elections exactly at the most dangerous period possible is utterly narrow minded, pigheaded behaviour, behind which I suspect some ulteriour motive for some personal gain without giving a damn about the loss of the israeli population.

pedro eilat • 4 years ago

Mr Liberman had the balls to stick to his convictions and congrats to him - Bibi tried every trick in the book and for once he was unsuccessful. It is a refreshing change to see an Israeli politician who was unable to be "Bought". The conscription issue is a huge one and dodged by most parties - it is an issue that will become more and more crucial in the coming decades due to the high birthrate in the ultra orthodox communities - a solution has to be reached.
Using Likud to try and have the US administration intervene in what was solely an Israeli internal
problem was a disgrace on the part of Likud.
Now Liberman is made out to be the "bad guy" for actually standing his ground - it is a crazy amoral world!

Jill Abbott • 4 years ago

He is the bad guy. Wake up.

Hector Zuniga • 4 years ago

G-D support is clear for Bibi Netanyahu, Lieberman must stop to force a new election and resign as leader of his party. The Interest of The Ysrael Nation must be first, before any personal interest. Lieberman never will be Primer Minister of Ysrael.

Yidith • 4 years ago

G-d's support for ISRAEL is clear!! Not so much for Bibi or Lieberman or any of the other ego-driven politicians. They are all done.
G-d has clearly intervened.

Jill Abbott • 4 years ago

Are you really as idiotic as you sound?

Kicki • 4 years ago

Please, don't judge so fast. You do not have all the facts clear either yet. Time will show.

Yidith • 4 years ago

Not so idiotic that I don't know how to block a hater like you.

Hector Zuniga • 4 years ago

Indeed Yidith; G-D have His mysterious way, and man is only his tools to due, but G-D can act on Himself too, to achieve His Purposes, He made use of the elements to change any situation that is not according His Will.

Davepatt • 4 years ago

If your going through the mill with other people, it shows that there is an attack of the Devil, so if the Devil is against you, it's a good sign that G-d is with you , so it is eventual victory, you just need to dig deep and hang in there and eventually there is a great reward.

Jill Abbott • 4 years ago

What makes Israelis think that another election will end any differently? Liberman's desire to sabotage Netanyahu and become PM himself will not change nor his inability to win a statewide election. Throw the bum out.

They should have taken the deal, but I am glad they didn't. No leader wants to start a new term with such a pitiful mandate as this. Now it is up for grabs with the whole voting population knowing the score. No voter regret this year.

Just last week, we J ews marked the day that Rabbi Akiva's students, some 24,000 of them, perished because of the way they were treating each other.

Just this week, here in America anyway, we read the parsha Bechukosai, telling us of the punishments of straying from the way that Hashem wants us J ews to live - and to t reat each other.

Now this in Israel......I am not an apocolyptic-thinking guy, but the irony and timing does not escape my notice. Once again, and still, we J ews are our own worst enemies.

Shalom
Bitachon
Pray for sanity in the minds of our politicians, for we pay the price.

Yidith • 4 years ago

I see this do-over election as a direct miracle!! A Blessing!! It seems we've merited to vote our conscience- our most positive convictions- instead of feeling we had to vote strategic to ward off the Blue&White threat/ we choose between two negatives.

B&W have disgraced themselves by holding a protest together with Arabs in Tel Aviv no less, during a time when the rest of Israel was burning!! They have come out of the "closet" as pure secular leftists- so they are done for.

Bibi will probably be told/forced to resign and somebody else will take the Likud leadership. (he might still be useful as foreign Minister or UN Representative??)

I see all the recent developments- including the fires- as a direct intervention from HKBH.
We face a turning point; some major issues could possibly be resolved very quickly if we connect with HaShem's directives to us.
We must annex/ claim Sovereignty over all the land between the river and the sea. We must make it very clear to the rest of the world that Oslo is dead and buried. The PA/Plo/Fatah Arabs and their supporters must be relocated; the rest should be given the option to live peacefully as equal citizens with us in a Jewish State or be helped to relocate if they choose.

We must re-take Gaza. That experiment has failed miserably. There is probably no other way but to make a very brutal assault on Gaza; The forced expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Hamas/Islamic Jihad supporters is going to take stubborn courage and tenacity in the face of the condemnation that will follow.
These two actions will lead to peace within our borders!!
We still have the Iranian threat but for the first time we aren't facing it alone so I'm confident we, together with other nations and with G-d's help, will be victorious over the mullahs.

THEN- we have a very short window of opportunity to prepare the infrastructure, housing etc for 4-5 million Jews who will be needing to flee to Israel.
Not urgent but a discussion that must be started is defining Israel as a Jewish State. (Constitution? Supreme Court? etc.)

Therefore we must vote for people with Koach- vision and a clear proven!!! deep love for Israel. Preferably selfless leaders.- I don't know about the rest of you but I've had enough ego driven politics to last me for the rest of my life.
Lets all vote idealistically and from the heart- remember a majority made up of many smaller parties who all agree in principle with the direction we should go in, might reflect our society best.
Please lets not squander this miraculous gift of the do-over election.

chrismoyler • 4 years ago

Yes, it is most definitely the time to bury Oslo
It has brought no good to Israel, and it has most certainly worsened the lives of the Palestinians

Yidith • 4 years ago

Palestinians?...... there are no such people- do you mean Arabs? Arabs who for the most part choose repeatedly for terrorism over living peacefully with a Jewish State. We are not responsible for their misery - it's self inflicted. (You choose the behaviour -you choose the consequences)

Israel has moved on; we are not in the "peace with terrorist Arabs" business anymore.
Frankly I don't care what happens to the PLO/Fatah/Hamas/Islamic Jihad/Hezbollah Arabs after we crush them and force them out of and away from our country- not Israel's problem or responsibility.
