Three famous jurists from the US wanted to speak at Netanyahu's hearings and were not allowed to do so, because they fundamentally disagreed with Mandleblit. If his actions cannot be scrutinized by the people, then what is he talking about? the people can also not elect Netanyahu, if they think a few cigars are more important than the outstanding job the Prime minister did all along his two prime ministerships. Israel is one of the few, if not the only state without public debt!!! We in the US should be so lucky. Our money is hardly worth the paper it is printed on. Netanyahu has made friends for Israel around the world, which is more important than what Mandelblit can throw at him. If the people want to dismiss Netanyahu, there is the ballot box to do it. So, the left, being unable to displace N. at the ballot box, try to use the courts to do it. That's the end of democracy. What's more, it is downright immoral.

bev • 4 years ago

is Mandlebit a demi-god. Since when does he have the right to make this very important decision without having others being able to speak. cigars-cigars-really---some expensive meals that Sara ordered-----this is corruption? they should speak to democrats in the U.S. and they will clue them in about corruption because they are the best at this.

Neutralone • 4 years ago

He is not a Demi-God. But he is a Likudnic-an appointee of Netanyahu, and trying to do his job impartially, as is his legal responsibility.

qith • 4 years ago

Very good point! I've always thought that the left was a bit flaky but when did they so completely lose their way? If they are going to present themselves as enemies of the state why should we the people care about cigars, meals or even phone calls asking a foreign president for help in deciding why a druggie is worth $50,000/month? To anyone?

duncanmc • 4 years ago

The masks have certainly been dropped and they are not shy in moving their agenda. The hypocrisy is blatant in that they break laws or enforce them selectively yet DEMAND that the letter of the law be scrupulously enforced on their political opponents. For all their cunning, they seem unaware that lawlessness, once embraced, cannot be controlled.

Stan Hoffman • 4 years ago

That's the way of the left. Total godlessness. They call good evil and evil good. It is nothing more than organized crime, and nothing less.

Neutralone • 4 years ago

Frankly, you are part of a coterie who turns a blind eye to everything negative about Netanyahu. YOU lawlessness, once embraced, cannot be controlled. It actually IS a sort of organized crime.

Stan Hoffman • 4 years ago

Frankly, your not bright at all. I never once said I turn a blind eye to anything negative about PM Netanyahu. You made that false accusation. In fact I never said one thing for or against the PM. I only spoke of the left. Now you go before God and repent of every sin you have committed and get your life perfect, then come back and try and correct me. Until then, your a sinner in need of salvation.

Neutralone • 4 years ago

You are in desperate need of psychiatric help. If you ever gain the capability to comment rationally, then by all means, come back and try to correct me.

Until the, leave me alone.

qith • 4 years ago

Yes, it is good when the goons come out into the light. We can know the players and their teams. But sadly, there is a whole segment of the population that has learned to trust the gov. rather than keeping a healthy suspicion. The Founding Fathers formed one of the best gov.'s in the world, yet they opposed trusting completely. Hence the 2nd Amendment. This new naivete tells them to listen to Kim Kardashian, or other such fools, to glean wisdom. I'm am beginning to think we should back the voting age to 35, until all the hormones have settled, and the young dismiss fools rather than treason. Israel will survive, but as for my country, I can only hope that we will. Blessings.

Neutralone • 4 years ago

You accuse the police, the prosecutors and the Likud Attorney General of being biased and being political opponents of Netanyahu? What is your rational? It is NETANYAHU, NOT THEY, who are accused of lawlessness.

AS YOU wrote "lawlessness, once embraced, cannot be controlled". YOU are condoning lawlessness, NOT protesting it.

qith • 4 years ago

No, I don't think so. It IS a cigar however, and you don't use a sledge hammer on a nail. If they must give Bibi a slight censure, I don't even think he would argue with that. It is this all or nothing approach. The Left is well on the way to doing this in the USA as well. The list is too long to recount, but "a man convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still." If you are following, then you already know, and dismiss it. But if you wonder why we won't give up our guns, you are watching the reason play out before you. It never had anything to do with hunting.....animals. The Left is poking the bear, and they don't have a clue. That is why the Fathers thought the 2nd Amendment was so important, right behind religion and free speech. If the Left ramps up the rhetoric, they shouldn't be so surprised when they are met half way. Elections only means something if those elected get to lead. Otherwise, they are a sham. Netanyahu, for now, is the leader of Israel. Trump, for now, IS THE LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD. If you disagree with this, there will be an election, just wait.

Neutralone • 4 years ago

Netanyahu, for now, IS NO LONGER the leader of Israel. He was NOT ELECTED by enough Israeli voters to be able to form a viable coalition government. At the moment, Gantz has been tasked to try and form a viable coalition government.

As for Netanyahu, the accusations against him and his wife are for much more than a cigar. Those in the legal system who want him indicted cannot all be dismissed as "leftists". AND, "A majority of Israelis believe Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should immediately resign as head of the Likud party in light of his pending indictment on graft charges, according to a survey released today.

Over half of respondents (53.5 percent) to the Israel Democracy Institute poll say Netanyahu should step down now as Likud chief, while 65% believe he should do so if indicted. 24% oppose him stepping down as leader of Likud. "

qith • 4 years ago

Haha, that's like saying most Americans believe Trump should step down as the leader of the Republican Party. The truth is, Likkud just voted, and they disagreed that other Israelis should pick their leader. You better dig deeper. That's the parliamentary system for you. Unruly bunch of likkudis....haha. Yea, free thinkers are like that ! Like Missourans, I guess.

Neutralone • 4 years ago

Trump was elected US President. Netanyahu is the leader of a political party which FAILED to win enough seats and FAILED to convince enough other Political party members to cobble together a parliamentary majority. They COULD NOT govern and Netanyahu gave up trying to become Prime Minister.

The opportunity to form a governing majority has now been passed to Gantz, as the leader of the Blue & White party, for them to attempt to build up the needed coalition. If successful, Gantz will become Prime Minister. If that happens, even if Netanyahu remains leader of Likud, he would NOT be Prime Minister.

qith • 4 years ago

Yes, I read the article too. But my point, which you seem to have a very hard time following is, Nobody but Likkudis get to choose the leader of their party. And if Gantz cannot cobble together enough support, then it is possible another minor party will get that chance. But if not, then there will be a 3rd election, and "woe unto you," Bibi might yet be PM. But at least you are using your words and not calling names like Nichus. I do appreciate that. Neither Gantz or any other present day pol in Israel has shown that he can lead the State of Israel. The longer this goes on, Israelis might opt for the "tried and true," over untested ideals. I hope that isn't too scary for you. Just the fact that Bibi could endure BHO's slights for 8 years has shown me a lot. When we are young, we are often very proud, and more so Netanyahu, who comes from a proud military family. But as we age, hopefully, we learn true humility which I sense that Bibi has done. Of course, I don't know him, but I have had the opportunity to follow his career and hear him speak in the US press. He is a truly gifted orator, and brings the facts each time I've heard him. I'm not an Israeli, so I won't tell anyone who they should vote for, but if they dismiss him, I hope it is for just reasons. And for me, cigars and meals ain't it.

Neutralone • 4 years ago

I agree that Likud is entitled to choose whoever they want to as their party leader. I have never said otherwise. I also agree that Bibi is a gifted orator and has many other admirable qualities..

Israelis do seem to be more "torn" as to whom they want to lead them. They are less enamored of Bibi than they used to be.They also seem to believe that Bibi should resign and concentrate on his personal problems, and not conflate his problems with those of the country as a whole. There is merit in him doing so.

qith • 4 years ago

Quickly, it is good that you agree, I'm sure that Likkudis everywhere are comforted. The polls reveal the obvious, but IF Likkud wins the 3rd election, Bibi will be PM. It is that simple. UNLESS, THEY choose another. If Blue and White wins, then Gantz will be PM. ONLY Blue and White has the right to decide who will be PM in the event of their winning. The rest of what you said is just Democracy. It should be a teaching moment as to how thankful Americans should be that we narrow it finally to only two, in most of our elections, and also how good it is that the founders chose an electoral college system, all whining to the contrary aside.

Neutralone • 4 years ago

You accuse the police, the prosecutors and the Likud Attorney General of being leftist enemies of the state. Perhaps you are a bit biased.

qith • 4 years ago

Perhaps you don't read well....

Neutralone • 4 years ago

The indictment against the Netanyahu's has been built up by police, prosecurers, the Likud Attorney General. You supported comments by duncanmc , and you yourself have said :

"Yes, it is good when the goons come out into the light. We can know the players and their teams."

"Very good point! I've always thought that the left was a bit flaky but when did they so completely lose their way? WHO, if not those in the police and law enforcement, are you then attacking?

qith • 4 years ago

Another quaint saying is: "don't read between the lines, just read the lines." By the way, good job using your words, or at least my words.
Is law enforcement on the left? I hope not. And the AG is a political appointment, is it not? The left here are very quick to suggest that it is. Of course that was after they raved about Barr. It seems that comes under "If you do what I want, then you are just doing your job. If not, you are playing politics," irrespective of the facts.
Try again, and try using your words. I know what I believe.

Strange , how when Olmert was Prime Minister and under investigation for corruption, Netanyahu publicly declared that Olmert needed to step aside, for the good of the country. He said that a PM under indictment could not effectively look after affairs of state for the good of the country, and would be tempted to make decisions for his own benefit, to the detriment of the country. Olmert did step aside, for the good of the country.

What do you think? How do you "square" the Netanyahu of "then", to the Netanyahu of "now"?

qith • 4 years ago

In case you wonder, HaAm are the boss.

Neutralone • 4 years ago

????

qith • 4 years ago

This is an Israeli news site but I was wondering if you had any familiarity with this fact. HaAm = the People. That you don't know any basics about Israel mildly suggests that being informed on the topics on which choose to speak is only mildly important to you. Use your words.....

Neutralone • 4 years ago

You have a unique way of AVOIDING an answer to a direct question.

For your information, I consider myself to be relatively well informed about Israel and about the topics we are discussing. More informed than most who live in North America. The comment I previously made is based on knowledge of current and previous events.

Your lame attempt at providing a "non answer" , mildly suggests .....What???You tell me.

qith • 4 years ago

I answered any questions I thought were worthy of mention. I'm not attacking anyone, I'm leaving that to you. I've provided you with my beliefs in light of the left's inability to lead, and instead opting to distract with faux crimes. And in the same way the media has taken the American public on a merry ride concerning NON-crimes, it seems that Israel's media is doing x's and o's out of the same playbook. But in fact you understood what I was saying. You don't like what I was saying. Tough taters! Do you have any real issues with Bibi? Because it seems that you know that he has been a good PM.

qith • 4 years ago

Olmert is an irrelevant mouse. Netanyahu has been a good PM. Your resume matters when your boss considers your faults, it is the same here.

Neutralone • 4 years ago

WHY is this site REFUSING TO POST MY COMMENTS?

The boss of the Prime Misteris the "people of Israel" Apparently, most of then believe he needs to resign.

qith • 4 years ago

Haha, and they voted for other parties in the last elections. I congratulate Israelis for at least trusting their own system. If only the left did. They're scared to death of elections, both here and in Israel. That's why they have committed to nonstop drama here, rather than actually do their jobs in their positions in the congress.

Neutralone • 4 years ago

It would be preferable if you tried to engage in a rational discussion instead of repeating silly, meaningless partisan slogans,

qith • 4 years ago

I reread the post to which you replied. I'm not aware of any partisan slogans contained therein. But it would actually be more useful if you would master your argument as I'm pretty sure you understand what I was saying, albeit you may want to pretend ignorance so you can avoid the point. That's the thing about slogans, partisan or otherwise, you might not agree but you understand. I understood the meaning of "Yes we can," but laughably his presidency was another. NO WE CAN'T

Hear, hear! In the big picture, the negatives against Bibi are so insignificant compared to the positives, if you just look at the ones mentioned in this article. "Stopped Iran, survived Obama, good on economy, projects strength as David against the Goliath of surrounding muslim enemy states, etc. VERSUS cigars or favorable publicity. Write him a ticket and be done with it.

Neutralone • 4 years ago

There are many more negatives than those few mentioned by Bennett.

qith • 4 years ago

This is a forum, so let's hear them Adam Schiff. OR SHUT UP!

Neutralone • 4 years ago

You asked.
Here are SOME Negatives:

1. Thinking that what is good for Bibi automatically is good for Israel.
2. Inciting fear and distrust of Arab Israelis in order to fire up his own base,
3. Badmouthing the police, prosecutors and courts when they do things which "he" doesn't like.
4. Going back on his word, as for example, Religious youth having to serve, Kotel area for Non orthodox praying.
5. Sowing discord by alleging that "leftist" and "Arabs" are traitorous to Israel.

qith • 4 years ago

The inverse of #1 is what is bad for Bibi is NOT good for Israel, at least in the present case. But you are treating them as if "OF COURSE" they are legit. The AG hasn't made that leap yet. But you have.

#2. There are many reasons to distrust the Arabs. Bibi has done many positives in his dealings with the Arabs, but this won't a normalized situation until the Arabs start defending their youth from recruitment. But nice try, making it seem "black and white." This is why I know you don't believe your own argument. And that's more of a compliment than what is left, IF you don't know how stupid what you said is.

#3 If I accept my guilt, then I would not badmouth them. But say the charges are either not true, or far much less important that they have been made to appear, then OF COURSE he badmouths what appears to him a .....wait for it.......witch hunt. I will never again assume because someone is accused, that they are guilty. I know that you are trying to convince me that accusation = guilt. If you believe this, it further explains why the constitution is unnecessary, in your eyes. And therefore why Netanyahu should go quietly, again in your dream world. For the rest of us, we resist this. And polls do nothing to further push me towards your side. As long as our Virginia Gov. Lt. Gov and AG still hold on to office, I know the left is NOT serious, but simply playing partisan politics, as is your whole argument. whether or not you intend it to be. #4. A politician changing his mind......wow, this has never happened before! "And if you like your doctor, you can take him with you." The facts on the ground change, and a true leader must adapt to the facts, otherwise, a robot could be elected to any job in Gov.

#5. Well, to this, "if the shoe fits...." Haha, sorry, that's a cliche....haha, but if the shoe fits.......I can't help myself. Seriously, too many Arabs are battling their own indoctrination from childhood. The reality of bringing them into a 21st Century gov. is the stuff of nightmares. I hope it will one day be done, "...by the content of their character." But no one can accomplish this but the Arabs.

Do you have any real issues with Bibi?

Isn't that the ploy Trump has always used against ALL his opponents:---Democrats, Republicans, other countries, business rivals, former associates and underlings, media, audience members who question him?

qith • 4 years ago

No, but it is the ploy that socialist have always used. You know this too. Or could, if you checked. And it sadly worked so often during the 20th century, I guess we should not be surprised that you would use it again. But then, I guess we should always be slightly surprised when bad men do evil deeds.

Neutralone • 4 years ago

You see no truth in what I said about Trump?

Neutralone • 4 years ago

Interesting to hear your opinions about American political parties.

However, the topic here is Netanyahu and Israeli politics.

qith • 4 years ago

The Left doesn't have a long playbook but it is somewhat effective against the naive. So, Israel, or their ally, the USA, the left hates both. So forgive us, if we even see that other socialist group involved against formerly good people: The NAZI's. The 20th century makes a nice read, if you have the time. But you probably know the parts to which I refer.

Neutralone • 4 years ago

I do not agree with your generalized demonization of everyone on the "left".

qith • 4 years ago

Okay, use your words. Tell me how it is wrong to refer to "the left" as wrong, not "everyone on the left" but the playbook they mindlessly follow. Try an argument, then I will be very impressed, because Dem-bots simply call names. Those you follow are worse, I admit. They lie, misdirect, misstate and anything else they wish to obscure their agenda. It helps to have media acting as your cheerleaders. They can't love their country but they can love the left. They have known this truth for years : "you can't win a war without air support." If you get my drift. Okay, now use your words....
