"Nancy Pelosi Blames Trump for Coronavirus Deaths: ‘His Denial at the Beginning Was Deadly' "

Saw that. She was speaking and they cut to Andrew Cuomo's daily briefing while she was in mid sentence. She told it right.

True, we need to live an learn. Never put a narcissist into a position of power. Who calls a national health emergency then goes on to hold 6 campaign rallies. Then when asked about his rallies putting people at risk: "Doesn't bother me at all" said Trump.

SrAgri • 4 years ago

Posts like this are why the phrase "Trump Derangement Syndrome" was coined. Your fixation with Trump supersedes your concern over a world-wide pandemic. That is neither reasonable or justifiable.

theunknownsleeper • 4 years ago

Actually I would say that "Trump Derangement Syndrome" is equally applicable to his fanboys who dismiss any criticism of Trump as being TDS.
#notalldeplorables

SrAgri • 4 years ago

I would agree with that assessment, TUS.

Personally, I don't like Trump. However, that fact does not consume my every waking moment. Some of the posters here are just obsessed to the point of insanity over him. Everyday they wake up determined to make their quota of crude, offensive remarks about Trump, regardless of the topic actually being discussed.

theunknownsleeper • 4 years ago

I remember an old game that Lunchbox and I used to play on the old channel on Fridays to try to get a word to trend above "Trump" on the old channel trending tags. We'd pick a topic and then post articles on it (all within the 48 hour window) until we could relegate Trump to #2. :)

SrAgri • 4 years ago

Sounds tough - I doubt that would work any more!

We need to move beyond Partisanship in taking in the lessons from this one

I agree. This is not a partisan issue. COVID-19 has no political affiliation and neither side had an official policy on pandemic diseases. The handling of this outbreak should be about surviving and coming out more prepared for the next one, not counting political coup.

MANthrax • 4 years ago

That "flash in the pan" is an entire branch of our Government. Governors are having to 'not' speak their minds for fear of not getting help. We can't learn if Trump gets his people believing things about this event that aren't true. So what you're saying pertains to every president and administration before but not this one. His cult prevents the Senate and even the House from checking him. He's guided by polls and the news so we're operating in a different world.

Arthur Julien • 4 years ago

It's true. Rump down played and people went out and got infected. And why, because he wanted to keep the numbers down to help his reelection.

Sir Aloha27™ • 4 years ago

Dude, they still are refusing to stay home and infecting people as we speak.

Arthur Julien • 4 years ago

Lemmings. Let them infect each other and thin the herd.

SrAgri • 4 years ago

I don't think you understand how the science works here. No one needs to infect one another.

???

That doesn't even make sense.

The truth is... everyone was asleep at the switch- beginning with China who quashed early reports of human to human transmission.

But how asleep?

*The countries with more authoritarian direction, were the quickest off the mark to change course- China, South Korea, Singapore, for example.

*Just heard from an American family member who was in South Africa. Couple tested positive and so advised to go home and self isolate for 14 days. Thinking that they were smarter than the rest of us- they did not! IMMEDIATELY, they were tracked via their cell phone, stopped and charged with ‘Attempted Murder’!

* Some democracies- like Germany, who have a generation culture of following orders- are doing better.

* Most democracies- especially the U.S. and to be fair, the other North American ones, but tragically Italy, Spain, England, etc. are less prone to taking strong direction/ orders from their governments. The failure to do so, has literally been deadly, as the article explains.

For America, in an ideal world, 2.5 weeks, after its leader found out about human to human transmission, the Super Bowl needed to be cancelled, let alone Mardi Gras, Spring Break and any other major public crowd event along this month’s continuum! That may be seen to be harsh judgement, but time lost man’s sickness and death!

And you could not and cannot have a tragically ignorant and self serving buffoon- in charge, fumbling, stumbling and bumbling through lost opportunity to prevent, control and curtail this scourge.

The heros of this saga, are never politicians, especially those interested in a pat on the back, at every turn.

They are those angels of mercy who willingly walk INTO a crisis that threatens their own lives! It is to them we turn and here is what they must believe!

“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment that something else is more important than fear.”

China wasn't asleep, but doing the same as Trump wanting it to go away. The difference was Xi is intelligent and knew it wasn't going to go away. Trump when he figured out it wasn't going to to away decided to NOT take the reins and leave it to the states so he could negate blame. So freaking sad.

Obama acted before pandemic declared.
Obama’s acting director of health and human services declared H1N1 a public health emergency on April 26, 2009.
That was when only 20 cases of H1N1 — and no deaths — around the country had been confirmed.

NO COMPARISON....

MANthrax • 4 years ago

Trump should have known Dec 2019 when they reported it to the WHO. Then proceeds to hold campaign rallies up until March 11th. Trump failed by not acknowledging it and then not following the South Korean model which led us to spend 2.2 Trillion and counting in government forced shutdown. Since there is a successful model Trump is to blame.

Lefty11 • 4 years ago

Pelosi is a might harsh. Leave that to historical review and to ME!

Trump:

First 27 cases of a viral Wuhan pneumonia publicly announced in China on December 30

WHO Public Emergency announcement + discussion between Trump via his FDA Director on January 18, 2020.

The first Coronavirus case identified in Washington State, from a visit to Wuhan on January 20, 2020. On the same day, one was identified in South Korea.

January 22, 2020: “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming from China. It’s going to be just fine.”

Trump does NADA for 13 days and then bans travel from China- ONLY!

“Trump told supporters at a rally in New Hampshire Monday night that the virus will be gone by April, claiming that when temperatures rise, “the virus” will “miraculously” go away”

On 24 February, Trump claimed “the coronavirus is very much under control in the USA”. The next day, Nancy Messonnier, the CDC’s top official on respiratory diseases, took the radically different approach of telling the truth, warning the American people that “disruption to everyday life might be severe”.Trump was reportedly so angered by the comment and its impact on share prices that he shouted down the phone at Messonnier’s boss, the secretary of health and human services, Alex Azar.

February 26, Trump finally puts together the Task Force, lead by Pence.

WHO declares Coronavirus a pandemic March 11, 2020.

Trump declares H1N1 a national emergency March 13, 2020.

Today? 132,000 Sick & 2300 Dead.
Fauci? Millions of Americans will likely get it & 100k will die.
H1N1 will be distantly behind!

How’s that April Fool’s Day deadline working out for you!

Tragically too Little, too unplanned, too slipshod, too shoddy & too deadly!

I won’t respond with the lengthy, multiple lists of that idiots’ boasts, feelings, beliefs, suppositions, suppressions and Faux declarations, along the entire way

Suffice it to say, they continue to undercut the expert Viral Medical Specialists daily- especially this latest buffoonery of cavorting with the Easter Bunny and packing them in, like sardines at Easter!

Even as death increases dramatically (which will easily dwarf H1N1), he’s still the petulant, narcissistic child the majority knows & despises!

You’d think he could backseat his own loon self pride, for one freaking day Gilly- but no.

Never.

Sir Aloha27™ • 4 years ago

I have the entire timeline of stupidity as well.

MANthrax • 4 years ago

Your timelines shows the glaring moments of incompetence.
Jan. 29, 2020 Trump announces the creation of the President’s Coronavirus Task Force to lead the “United States government response to the novel 2019 coronavirus and with keeping him apprised of developments.”
Trump should have not gotten rid of the WH Pandemic Office and would have had a plan once this happened.
Jan. 31, 2020 The Trump administration suspends entry into the United States by foreign nationals who traveled to China within the last 14 days (excluding Hong Kong and Macau).
Again, had Trump not gotten rid of the Pandemic office he'd have known he needed to test and possibly quarantine ALL peoples, including citizens and anybody exempt to enter the country from affected countries. The stable genius failed.

A well reasoned conversation with a Trump supporter is always welcome. Let me begin by saying TDS has 2 flavors a Right and a Left. So check yourself for symptoms along the way. One of Trumps skills/faults is to take credit for all things good and lay blame for bad never taking responsibility for anything. He has his followers trained to do the same as evident by your replies.
-Agreed, Trump's appointed person at the time (Bolton) shouldnt have gotten rid…
Then/or the ‘what about ism’ or deflect
-The Obama Administration had everyone hands on deck and still had a level 6 pandemic…
- Complain some more or hope to God these individuals tasked with overseeing this pandemic do a good enough a job to keep as many people alive as possible? This is my thought process...
- Complain and speak out is what every American should do when they don't agree with what is happening. I've yet to hear any Trump supporter ever hold him to account. It's cult like scary. Of course we all want to see us get out of this with minimal deaths contrary to what the right opinion media will feed you.
- Putting together a Task Force, the lowest fundamental action, and you give him praise? So yes I can “ignore the fact” but I can objectively look at his actions after the creation of this task force:
Trump downplayed his own “National Health Emergency” up until March 11, 2020 when he finally canceled his campaign rallies. So what happened from Jan 30 to March 11.
Mari Gras, Spring Break, Gyms, Restaurants, virtually everything stayed open. Countless government officials followed Trumps lead supported by right opinion news at Fox, telling people to go out with your family to a restaurant for dinner. How many were wrongfully infected by this conflict of messaging during this time?
I’m glad enough people finally persuaded him to move off “Back to normal by Easter”.
He didn’t have a plan and he’s finally, finally, reluctantly taking the reins, and in my opinion still doing it wrong. He needs to go full steam at testing kit production, it’s the only way we’ll get back to work.

You can never convince an idiot of anything when using facts..

Lefty11 • 4 years ago

Did Fauci use that line, when responding to Mob Boss Donny at every presser?

Sir Aloha27™ • 4 years ago

I'd back away from the personal insults were I you Rob.
I'm a big boy, it comes with the territory.
Call another CM that and I guarantee your ass there'll be a problem.

(EDIT)
I had better not see a comment directed at another poster here in pending.
Am I being perfectly clear?

Rob • 4 years ago

I was quoting Mark Twain, I’ll make sure to state that in the future when I quote someone else...

Sir Aloha27™ • 4 years ago

Directed at another poster here would result in the comment being binned directly.
Just so you know.

Sir Aloha27™ • 4 years ago

Tell people to go home and goddamn well stay there.
All that needs to be said.
We in Canada invoked the Quarantine Act.
Either you keep your ass at home, or the judicial system will plunk your ass in an institution of their choosing.
- I'll assume the food is better at home.

Sir Aloha27™ • 4 years ago

Agreed.
You have 9x the population.
And 20x the infections despite the poor testing on your side.
I'm an engineer, math comes fairly easily to me.

(EDIT)
The 20x infection rate will increase as time passes.
Count on it.

SrAgri • 4 years ago

The higher infection rate also relates to more travelers through the US.

notafeminista • 4 years ago

That's rich. The administration should have banned travel from China. You're suggesting people should not have been allowed to come to the US from China...right?

Lefty11 • 4 years ago

Right! ASAP... Directly AND indirectly after the January 18 WHO declaration that this was a “HUMAN TO HUMAN VIRAL TRANSMISSION”

And then gone into planning mode about the 5Ws of both pandemic preparation and exactly where people have arrived previously, what they did for weeks and what to do about it!

Like?

Shutting the Super Bowl!
Mardi Gras!
And finally, the Spring Break!

notafeminista • 4 years ago

You'll need to explain when travel bans are racist and xenophobic and when they are necessary for public health.

Lefty11 • 4 years ago

Here’s a clue... get it!

When it’s the Spanish Flu or Black Plague, the bell tolls for thee!

notafeminista • 4 years ago

So true.. which could cross a border at any time, any place. So once again. You'll need to distinguish when closing borders is racist and xenophobic and when it's necessary for public health. Feel free.

Sir Tainley • 4 years ago

This will prove much worse by numbers alone. But the end of this week more Americans will have died of this pandemic than H1N1.

It's really not going to look good that you brought that up as a defense: this is so much worse and harder. And the mismanagement is all the more grievous for that reason.

Guest • 4 years ago
Sir Tainley • 4 years ago

Again... this is going to be much worse. Exponentially more was required by Trump, and there was a failure to deliver. It's like the difference between a grease fire on the stove, and an incendiary bomb in the living room.

Mr. PRESIDENT • 4 years ago

Pick which option you think will make you the most money in a month:

$10,000 on every day of the month.
A penny that doubles in value every day.
The correct answer is the penny.

The first option will leave you with about $300,000 in a month. The magic penny will be worth several million dollars.

$5,368,709.12.
( However, it's important to note that it's all about the power of doubling – if you asked the same question, but changed the doubling time to just 27 days, you would only have $671,088.64.)

Sir Tainley • 4 years ago

And keep in mind how long the month is... because while 31 days of March might get you that $5.3M... 28 days in February will only get you 1/4 that.

Guest • 4 years ago

* Starting at the earliest possible learning moment- January 18!

* Not blowing smoke and stating contrary insane things, based on a Dr. Nick hunch, when experts like Fauci say otherwise!

* Giving people inspiration and hope, not narcissism and idiocy!

This pandemic will be multiples of H1N1.

If you wish to know why, happy to state so.
