Can someone explain how this attack differs from the attempted killing of Gaddafi in the 80's for his role in terror attacks that killed Americans? He was the head of a nation.

HH • 4 years ago

al-laqqis was the #2 man in hezbollah when he was whacked in Lebanon, no doubt by a very brave person.

hezbollah promised retaliations.

There were none.

Never...NEVER...be afraid to kill a terrorist.

The anonymous source CNN appears upset about not being provided details of the "imminent" threat of "attacks on US interests". Naturally, if CNN had any form of investigative journalism they would have been able to figure it out themselves using what is publicly known:

1) A US civilian was killed in Iraq by a rocket attack launched by Kata'ib Hezbollah,
2) Kata'ib Hezbollah is designated terrorist organization backed by Iranian.
3) Our U.S. embassy in Baghdad was attacked by pro- Popular Mobilization Forces(PMF) protesters.
4) The PMF is a designated terrorist group that is backed by Iran.
5) The PMF's Commander was Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.
6) Iran's Quid Forces is a designated terrorist organization.
7) Iran's General Qasem Soleimani was the commander of the Quid Forces.
8) The PMF's & Quid Forces' commanders were killed by drone attack while they were traveling together in a ”convoy traveling near Baghdad International Airport”.
9) Surveillance footage of the attack "near Baghdad International Airport" has been release to the media.

Now, this is why CNN needs investigative journalists:

10) In the upper right of the footage, release to the media, is a small control tower that can be located using Google Maps.
12) The tower is not the main tower at the airport but rather it's North West of the civilian side of the airport within the military base at the airport.

Now, putting all the pieces together:

13 – After terrorists attacks were committed, that killed an American and damaged US property, leaders of two terrorists groups were traveling in a ”convoy ey” into a military base "near Baghdad International Airport”. The terrorists' ”convoy” presented an "imminent" threat to a US interest thereby the DoD's Drone Pilot was given the order to neutralize the threat ;)

You must not have gotten the White House and GOP TPM that all of them are reading off of, telling us that: Oh no! This was NOT retaliation. But just serendipity that the general just happen to have the audacity to show up in Baghdad.

LivinInTheUSA • 4 years ago

Sorry about your loss but not really........LOL!

"RawDogTrial" Jenny • 4 years ago

If the goal was stopping an imminent attack, we would not kill their general.
Bigger Attacks are now more imminent.

John Boggs • 4 years ago

"Bigger Attacks are now more imminent."

oh like maybe an Embassy takeover...Teheran 444 days...no US response
Marine Barracks, Beirut...no US response
Khobar Towers...no US response
Beirut CIA station Chief...no US response
hundreds of US casualties in Iraq from Iranian ordnance...no US response

ah US Navy vessels captured by Iranians...US response was to send planeloads of cash

OK Boomer • 4 years ago

Oh look. You are keeping a list. I wonder how may other countries keep lists.

LivinInTheUSA • 4 years ago

Yup, times have changed. Eliminating Obama's policies has cut off funding, supplying of U.S. weapons, and terrorist organizations ability to travel into the United State. Subsequently, Daesh suffered major losses and stateside attacks ceased. People seem to be overlooking the latter fact. During the Obama Administration the frequency of terrorist attacks were increase then once Obama era polices were eliminated they ended.

Giving the Drone Pilot the go-ahead eliminated two commanders of two terrorist organization in one shot. This resulting in celebrations in Iraq, Syria, and by Iranian-Americans here in the US. It's unfathomable the Iraqi government voted our troops out given the breach in security demonstrated why we're needed. More so because the breach occurred near the Training Center that has been targeted countless times in the past. Frankly, the Iraqi's are d*mn lucky a DoD Drone Pilot was keeping a watchful eye on things.

"RawDogTrial" Jenny • 4 years ago

Correct. Killing a General increased the likelyhood of attack and the degree.

Barry • 4 years ago

Don't you think that Iran likes having a navy, air force, and oil refineries? Do they want to give that up for revenge, because that is exactly what they would be doing.

"RawDogTrial" Jenny • 4 years ago

Iran will attack in such a way that they have reasonable deniability.

Barry • 4 years ago

That won't stop us if we find out it is them (and we would).

"RawDogTrial" Jenny • 4 years ago

Ummm....Trump still believe Putin over US intelligence.

Confusion is a very real tactic.

Barry • 4 years ago

Trump had reason to doubt US intelligence at the time they thought it was likely he was an agent of Russia because of blackmail over a pee tape. He also likely remembered US intelligence about WMDs at the onset of the Iraq war. He certainly doesn't trust Putin either.

However Iran would be wise to believe we would assume any attack was them even if evidence is lacking. It wouldn't be worth the risk to attack us in a major way.

You are likely going to see that a show of strength can get a nation like Iran to back down.

"RawDogTrial" Jenny • 4 years ago

I can assure you US intelligence still believes Trump is compromised by Russia.

Trump simply believes whatever is convenient...same as you.

The idea that past mistakes by US intelligence are a reason to not believe them is illogical.
It's the only intelligence Trump has.

Iran will have their revenge. And it will likely be cleverly cloaked.
You are proof misinformation works.

Barry • 4 years ago

The lack of self awareness in this post is hilarious.

If revenge is cleverly cloaked, you can't really claim revenge. They still would have lost face and look completely impotent against our power. Have you really thought this through?

"RawDogTrial" Jenny • 4 years ago

You can claim it via clever leaks and rumors...while officially denying.

Nothing new.

Barry • 4 years ago

Is that what they have been doing for years? How did that work out for Soleimani?

"RawDogTrial" Jenny • 4 years ago

The world is a simple place for you hun.

Barry • 4 years ago

When it comes to terrorists it is. Kill them. Nobody who kills Americans should ever feel safe.

"RawDogTrial" Jenny • 4 years ago

Would you kill a rapist even though he was holding a rope that held 100 children above a cliff?

Barry • 4 years ago

The temptation is to dismiss this as a strawman, however think a little harder about it.
Picture this happening in real life. Is the rapist a free person at the end of the day? No, he is brought to justice, dead or alive. Every effort would be made to save the children.

Today, every effort is being made to protect US citizens against continuing threats. One of those threats used to be Soleimani. It isn't anymore.

"RawDogTrial" Jenny • 4 years ago

They Iranians would like to kill Trump.
If they succeeded, would Iran be safer?

Barry • 4 years ago

Likely they would. Soleimani was certainly safer when Obama was President.

ꕥKimariesingsꕥ • 4 years ago

Riiiight because Obama followed protocol? We were ALL safer under Obama.

Barry • 4 years ago

Excluding the people at our embassy in Libya. What a night and day difference!

Also excluding the thousands killed by ISIS.

Or our military service members who were killed in far higher numbers, many by Soleimani.

So basically no.

Naw, I think if they were to attack on US soil, they would go after something closer to Trump, like maybe Eddie Gallagher. He should have a security detail right now.

ParaBellum • 4 years ago

I hope Iran does not try to target ANY sites in the US, vital or not.

"RawDogTrial" Jenny • 4 years ago

Only a proxy would.
And Iran would deny involvement.

ParaBellum • 4 years ago

They tried that when our embassy was attacked.

How’d that work out for them?

DJT Stock from Hell • 4 years ago

LOL.. Trump is the big uniter after all. He managed to unite all of Iran. LOLOL

The glee Trump's cult has for him committing violence is pretty much why we called them all deplorable. They are the most twisted sociopaths in this nation.

Precisely why we should never have elected him.

"Precisely why we should never have elected him."

of course, intellectual elitist Liberals should be the only ones allowed to vote in the USA....they know best...
