Here's the bad news for Beta Bob...if that necropsy even hints at thyroxine, its over EVEN IF IT WAS LEGALLY GIVEN. But I read the CA rule on thyroxine. Both the trainer and the vet have to report it in detailed form. Doubt that happened. Remember Justify!!!

Three vets were charged by VMB and Dr Blea is the only one whose license was suspended after an emergency hearing. The other two vets are Sarah Graybill and Vince Baker, who are still practicing pending a formal hearing.

What I find interesting is Mr Baker was also the attending vet of both Cruel Intention and Eclair before their races in 2019 and whose B u t e positives are now part of NYRA charge sheet against Baffert.

Mr Baker not only treated both horses but was also supposedly responsible for proper handling and keeping of the meds in the barn. The barn inspection following the Eclair positive, however, found that "25 different kinds of medications that are not properly labeled and expired" and there was "no lock on the medication cabinet".

For NYRA hearing, I am pretty sure bute positive isn't worthy of any serious discussion. I mean it's very minor being ARCI Class 4 NSAIDS. But the mislabeling and unlocked cabinet are the parts which will be stressed upon during the hearing in an attempt to prove irresponsible and sloppy barn operation.

It's not about you and I or anyone else. It's about the charges and arguments in the hearing and you would be surprised how it goes, what is said, and what is blamed. Everything goes, no matter how small or silly.

According to other publication, the charges are mostly minor infractions and incomplete bookkeeping.

The allegation that he prescribed thyroxine to a large number of horses he had not examined is pretty major, I think.

“Minor paperwork violations” wasn’t how the vet board classified its allegations, and it wouldn’t be trying to keep Blea from overseeing the Medina Spirit necropsy if it weren’t concerned about his impartiality and practice standards and habits — and client list.

That's the major point. They were out to keep this guy away from Medina Spirit. Two things about that....one is that the vet board must have gotten some political pressure from someone because they wouldn't know Medina Spirit from Mr. Ed. second, what does somebody know about what is going on with that necropsy? Something is up. Remember Justify!!!

Combine that with how Baffert's barn allowed a lower leg injury on Lord Nelson to blossom into full blown foundering, and you see a pattern of neglect!

But regarding Blea, if charges weren't enough this temporary suspension is more than enough for him to resign from his post. He became controversial after the charges and even more so now. I don't think he has any ethical or moral grounds to remain on the post.
