Anime & Rutabagas • 10 months ago

I must say after watching part 2 this series really grew on me...

Wouldn't mind another season to see what Anne do next xD

arra1213 • 10 months ago

im actually expecting the other kings gem to wake up in post credit scene (maybe im just askin too much for a 3rd season lol)

Deus The Great • 10 months ago

You're asking too much for that part lmao. That other gem literally has no story in this season aside from being one of the king gems and unawaken.

arra1213 • 10 months ago

lol its not just me though ive seen comments about the other gem as well
that would be great as an after credit scene (mcu style lol)
well kinda hoping for a new season (even though anime is mostly used for promotion for the source material unless its popular like jjk or something) since i like the animation, characters, narrative, lore etc

Kanon Nutsuki • 10 months ago

I need more because sure they kinda have a good end like that but a lot want them 2 to be together so... it didn't exactly happened yet sure he will follow her but what about being with her mm?

Nick Raph • 10 months ago

she gonna be living on the streets selling herself

Judgment526 • 10 months ago

I’m glad Challe shoved the truth in Lafalle’s face when he was calling traitor. I wish he had ended Lafalle though. I’m not convinced he’s dead and I don’t trust him not to come back to wreak havoc again in the future.

Kinda funny how Anne returned to find that their work was already completed while she was kidnapped. Guess they added that last bit so she would actually have something to do, lol

Sad to hear that Lusul’s lifespan is only about a year. I hope she makes it to the sea. 😭

Mega-Chad-Type-Hero • 10 months ago

And such Mobile-Threads is practically a veritable «cheet»-skill
(Spelling it that way intentionally even though it is a bit of an inside-joke)

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 10 months ago

NOOOOOOOO NOT Lusul TT^TT

Tzadoq Eli • 10 months ago

Yeah, it lay out a background to a future spin offs since the ending of the villain is so ambiguous.

STAX • 10 months ago

I am only Disappointed that Bridgette just became a sidenote instead of taking the path of defiance and trying to become a sugar artisan like she had wanted. Especially cause it came up more than once I was expecting Anne to encourage or drive her down that path.
Also Lusul deserves to live a long happy life.

Tohru&Kyo • 10 months ago

I honestly thought she would work tawards becoming a sugar artisan too, but it seems like shes falling in love with Orland instead.

Deus The Great • 10 months ago

She will never achieve her dream because she never shows her effort rather than her interest.

orange juice is nice • 10 months ago

me too I'd love it if she found her own way instead of being tied down by her dad and the workshop. It's good to love the people around you but people should be allowed to grow and make their own choices.

Divine demon GOD Aris • 10 months ago

I also wish bridget became a sugar artist

fabulous max • 10 months ago

I was also wondering if things would go in that direction, but ig for her breaking up her engagement was defiant enough.. maybe she also felt bad for going against her father's wishes especially considering the state he's in? Like, if I was in her position, I'd be thinking sth like "damn I really fucked things up by acting like a brat and bringing lafalle here; what can I do to help out everyone in the workshop" Anyways, perhaps later on after their workshop is booming and more stable (which it already seems to be going in that direction) she might consider it??

NutellaQuill • 9 months ago

I 100% agree with you- I think it's actually more realistic to see her taking 'baby steps' towards being where she wants, especially because it looks like she was trying to please her father for so long, that she didn't even realize that her desires are rearing their heads, in spite of how much she tried to damp them down. I'm actually a really big fan of how much 'show, not tell' this show did with her- you can gauge where her head is at purely from her expressions and actions, with no need for a explanatory aside or monologue.

Kay Southpaw • 10 months ago

I thought about this too! If someone, it'd be Anne to tell her to follow her dream.

Nan Demo K(Nai)ves • 10 months ago

Since Lafalle's body was not seen, I'm sure he will appear again in the future. I like that he was "betrayed" by the fairies and they chose a human over him, Anne just treated them as equal and they chose her over someone who had possession of their wings, that says a lot.

I was worried for Lusul though, but this show doesn't have gore so it's not like she would have been killed, well at least in a sliced up manner.

Nice to see Challe finally be able to go all out against Lafalle, too bad it ended anti-climactically but again, I'm sure there'll be a rematch.

Interesting how Bridget didn't apologize for the way she has treated Anne up till this point, though it's good to see she's turning her life around. Too bad it cost Orland's eye but it seems like her feelings for him have heightened and I'm sure they'll eventually get together. Interesting how Elliott will also get adopted by Glen, that's going to be an interesting dynamic.

I'm curious to see how Anne and Challe's relationship will develop after that talk, it sounded like they were both not involving themselves when they said what they wished the other would do but clearly they both have feelings for each other. I hope they can be happy together for as long as Anne lives, and I am not sure if I'm making incorrect assumptions but it sounded like forever means Challe would even protect her grave or he would die alongside Anne.

The display looked really pretty though, Anne and the Paige Workshop must have left a big impression because I don't believe we've seen anything like that up until now.

I would watch another season of this, it was decent to watch, I'm glad Jonas wasn't focused on much this season and we got to see some sweet moments between Anne and Challe. Challe's definitely made the biggest change with how loyal and affectionate he has been.

arra1213 • 10 months ago

sugar apple fairy tale, spy classroom, mononogatari
started in winter 2023
got a sequel in summer 2023
kinda feel sad that there are no announcement for a new season for all of em
im gonna miss these shows
also hope jc staff do another railgun (jailbreak arc)
ps bridget blushing near the end is really cute hehe

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 10 months ago

For slight correction Sugar Apple is just part 2/2nd cour so it's not a actual 2nd season but the other two are S2's

arra1213 • 10 months ago

i always got confused with cour/part 2 i mean they should just use season 2 specially if there are a few months break lol
its understandable if the anime is continues like like summertime render or dark gathering xd

Divine demon GOD Aris • 10 months ago

I was expecting the diamond fairy to be born. I hope anne meets lusul again

TitaniaErzaPony • 10 months ago

That diamond will become Eril Fen Eril.

Goosie🦆 • 10 months ago

Are you an LN reader? I heard the novel completed already?
SPOIL me please!
I read from another fan weeks ago that Challe and Anne got married and with kids?

TitaniaErzaPony • 10 months ago
Are you an LN reader?

No but I read on 'Novel Updates Forum Sugar Apple Fairy Tale' (Pages 4-5).

They get married in Vol 17 while Vol 18 is after their marriage, though it's going to be a while since the anime ended at Vol 7.

Düölingöhhh Snorlax • 10 months ago

Wtf rlly??? they can get interspecies pregnant now???

iCurvaceous • 10 months ago

No I think all their names are constructed that way in another language (Latin im assuming?).

Divine demon GOD Aris • 10 months ago

Noah Winns-Cromer • 10 months ago

Took Gogo long enough.

Anime & Rutabagas • 10 months ago

That's what I'm saying lol

Noah Winns-Cromer • 10 months ago

Like WTF?

Gogo had a hell of a hangover!

EM • 10 months ago

Damn the animation is so smooth.
Lafalle is definitely gonna appear again if there is another season.
Surprised they actually managed to make everything in time. They even had time left.
21:20 The childhood friend magic is doing its thing!
Such a well done episode. But I wanted a confession *sad*.

Part 2 was better than part 1 imo. But both are decent. Also 3D models for the confections were really nice.
7/10

Crimson.Princess • 10 months ago

loved this show tho no kiss between anne and challe but I can live without it also bridgette finally going after the right guy is a nice thing to seen

Noah Winns-Cromer • 10 months ago

The 2nd half of Sugar Apple Fairy Tale is brought to you by JC Staff once again, the studio behind Danmachi, Food Wars, Toradora, Milfsekai, OPM S2, Seven Spellblades, Shinometa, and more!

I'd dive into detail on my thoughts on this, but there ain't much to tell. I WILL give the 2nd half props, it WAS better than the first half. Some story, details on the lore, we FINALLY get to see some sugar making, which is what the goddamn show advertised and not all this Disney Channel drama bulls***!

Otherwise, it's pretty much the same thing. The OP and ED are nice though.

Overall, I don't recommend this outside of visuals. I get this is a shoujo, but it feels dated, which doesn't help considering the novel dropped in April 2010. Hell there's better shows out here for the target audience. A lot of the issues of the first cour are present here, and TBH, if I wanna deal with this drama, I can go rewatch some Disney Channel shows on Disney+. Speaking of which, I got some glorious purpose to look forward to by rewatching Loki S1! At any rate, there's better shoujo, or just watch a Disney Channel movie.
1st Cour: 5/10
2nd Cour: 5/10
Final Verdict: 5/10

iCurvaceous • 10 months ago

Tbh I finally realized why I enjoyed this show and watched it to the end. The OP and ED and writing style give me Ascendance of a Bookworm vibes, except AOAB is so much better written and executed. I agree with your rating on this show. I think the vibes is similar because they did excellent fantasy immersive world building, and the music gives the same atmosphere and emotion to the anime. I like the uniqueness of the fairy and sugar master lore, and I think I speak for all of us when I say we were all here for Challe fen Challe and wanted to know how things played out concerning their bond. Tbh I am a little disappointed that they did not take the relationship route after Challe showed how much he intimately cared for her. Thats probably why most of us want another season along with what happens with the other gem. I also found the end of this season a little lack luster. We suspect Lafalle did not actually die and it feels like he did not get justice served.

Lopaka Nitu • 10 months ago

The relationship direction seems all due to Anne being young and naive. They made her act like she doesn't know what she's feeling, even when she's crying as Challe tells her to find someone to love. Where Challe seems to stand off and not want to burden Anne with a confession. While I agree the story may be lacking, I still found it enjoyable. I'd rather a story be well done and lacking, than butcher the story in a rush like many (especially during covid).

brierom • 10 months ago

Agree, this feels awfully dated at best, even if the 2nd split-cour is significantly better than the 1st.

MARZiPWN • 10 months ago

Yeah this was a nothing-burger of a finale. Felt rushed to resolve itself but i'll still watch it for the tropyness

Deus The Great • 10 months ago

5.5-6/10 for me. I wouldn't mind watching another season.

KiboE • 10 months ago

Minor spoiler:it’s should be no surprise but that tyrant Opal Lafelle is still alive. I recall he comes back getting involve with Diamond

TitaniaErzaPony • 10 months ago
I recall he comes back getting involve with Diamond.

Close.

Here's a recent comment sample in the Novel Updates Forum on the series.

I believe while Laffael is out, a new villain will be in the plot for the next volumes as they need to discover the third brother Eril Fen Eril (diamond). Checking the pictures of volumes [8-11] they will have now a human to play the bad guy.
Archie Andrew's 1000 • 10 months ago

Watch this earlier today but had no time to comment or review.

Sugar Happy Fairy Tail Part 2
Source: LN.
Genre: Adventure, fantasy, romance, shoujo.
Studio: J.C. Staff.
(A studio with history with making big title anime and them some ones such as Danmachi, Food Wars. Golden Time, Kaichou wa Maid-sama, Prison School, Ikkitousen S1, OPM S2, Duke of Death and his Maid, ect.)

Personal thoughts:
In honesty like a few other commenters here, part 2 is better and more enjoyable than part 1 since it doesn't have too much overlapping drama.
Part 1 just focus on the start of the story with over needed drama and focus on Jonus as a the first baddy... (And he was brought back -.-;) This season we had to deal with drama with Bridgette as of annoyance of things.

Aside from redemption on characters we get an actual antagonist villain which is Lafalle in honesty a good looking ikemon character but a real nasty pos whom I do wish his last wing gets cut of or he gets strung up by his own strings to end him.

Anyways the art style stayed the same and is nice and really sparkly colorful, I even would say it improve a deal. The story progressed a lot better in this 2nd have and the OP and ED are really good and better than the first ones.

The only flaws I have in this is the romance is only now starting to progress with the 2 leads and would like it to get a little faster though and the redemption on some of these characters is weak.

But all in all I give this a 7/10 and watch another season of it.

Rannen 19 • 10 months ago

I doubt Lafalle died. He got those strings ability. He is like Spider-Man. I am sure he survived 100%.

ItsKeazol • 10 months ago

In my opinion the 2nd season was much better than the 1st one. I fell in love with the art style of this anime and it's story. I can't wait for 3rd season ;) I

I loved how the Shall and Ann grew closer to each other. It is just sad that Bridgette did not get more to her story.

7/10

Ira S • 10 months ago

I'm happy we didn't get another cliffhanger at the end this season. I kinda wish this had more episodes cause it feels a little rushed at places but it was still a fun watch. Anne and Challe's relationship has really grown on me and I hope we get more seasons so we can see their relationship move forward. It would be nice to see them properly getting together and tell each other how they feel as they clearly both love each other <3

Quite enjoyed Lafalle as the villain this season. I really liked how they talked about the concept of freedom and swithcing one oppressor to another. Lafalle's anger is justified but the way he went about it wasn't, plus he clearly was using excuses like how he was saving all the fairies to get his revenge and was only thinking about himself and power. He saw the other fairies as less than and that is why in the end they sided with Anne who had treated them as equals.

LegoOnTheGroundYouMissed • 10 months ago

Super wholesome and some sadness love it

NutellaQuill • 9 months ago

I love this series! Its so cool how it balances the romantic plot, the actual plot, and then the stories of the characters around it- the world building as well!! I really hope we'll all be able to tune in for a season 2 (as this was only a part 2 of the first season...? thats such a confusing way to do it...) so I've got my fingers crossed. In the mean time, time to learn more Japanese so I can read the not-yet translated LNs...

fabulous max • 10 months ago

anne's big smile when she saw all their completed pieces after returning to the workspace was so heartwarming :')

challe's words could've made such a nice confession... too bad he added in that bit about "finding a person she loves" like cmon challe... give yourself some credit here smh

this series was really nice despite the repetition of unfortunate things always happening to anne

Divine demon GOD Aris • 10 months ago

orland gonna get lucky
