Interesting how he didn't intentionally take the photo of Momo, he was using it to see if he could help out but because of the earthquake he ended up snapping the picture and I'm assuming either saw or almost saw the moment she died. This episode made it really clear how far his trauma goes.

It was upsetting to hear the family members blame him when 1 - the grandfather had given permission to publish the picture and 2 - I'm sure Kikuchi had already told them that he wanted to go down to save anyone and was looking for people on the camera. They had prevented him from moving on from this incident and still have the audacity to blame him when he was in no position to save anyone. He would have also lost his life.

On a lighter note, I have no idea why Kouya thought it would be a good idea to ride on a boat to help digestion, that should have made Haruka puke everything out lol.

Hopefully after getting some closure with Shouzou, he'll be able to take that picture of Haruka on a podium without any hesitation. Not that I believe it means he's completely recovered from the earthquake incident, but I think he'll finally be able to move on as a photographer.

Need a device that transfers real time fear. So one can experience them. Mom's emotion despair and fear hitting you all at once.

Coldplay23 • 8 months ago

damn that was too fucked up and emotional, i haven't gotten that tear eyed in a few years, especially the scene with the girl running and crying and then the hospital scene re-opening that phone and seeing that photo of that night from like 10 years ago. rip momo

arra1213 • 8 months ago

i admit that hospital scene when he looked at the photo in the phone it made me cry
now i want similar anime without the racing part that start as slice of life and ended up tragic that affect everybodys lives in the town

Nikola Nikolov • 8 months ago

arra1213 • 8 months ago

yeah love that scene my favorite episode so far and this anime can remove the racing part and focus on that tragedy and its still good actually better lol

ryukimega • 8 months ago

Even if he rushed from the point he was taking the photo he wouldnt even begin to get close to the disaster area, the family blaming him is bullshit, what did they expect him to do? teleport her with his photograper superpowers?

MeguminExplosion • 8 months ago

It's more of if you had time to take a picture you had time to save her. Or you had time to video record you could have saved her. But that is based on emotions and not rationale. Like I.E. People like to say why didn't you save the animal. But what if the animal was getting attacked by a large crocodile or lion. People disregard common sense because the part of the brain with emotion overpowers other thought processes.

churchblue • 8 months ago

This is the best episode for this series so far.

Pietje van Dongen • 7 months ago

Those photos @ 04:32 looks like real photos of the circuit.
Even when he wanted to save her, he wasn't allowed to do that..
Kikuchi was the MVP in this episode, he arranged that Kouya could visit Shouzou in his final moments. Not sure how many time Shouzou had left, but based on what we've seen, he was close to the brink.

So poignant. this anime goes far beyond racing and into philosophical and existential subjects: life, death, tragedy, etc.

Dam guy shouldn't stop him. He more at fault too.

You can't run faster than a tsunami. You're powerless against Nature. That guy was right to stop him, he would have died too. There was no way to save the girl, unfortunately...

One moment it's all smiles and joy then out of nowhere everything turns dark and it's so sad. RIP Momo-chan and the 340 people who died as well

The studio knows this ep is a masterpiece when the credit rolls :( this hit me wayyy harder than I expected it to.
Seems like last year there were 2 memorial art pieces recalling that tsunami tragedy in Japan :(

Alex • 8 months ago

Still the grandpa should know his idea was just terrible even if he had the best of intentions, Kouya to blame here too.

I found it funny how the family was useless and blames Kouya for their lack of everything.

Next episode our cute kid will be riding a white car and get the podium picture taken by Kouya.

Deep...., lol. For your dumbass it probably is.

Alex Brown • 8 months ago

Deeper than boring, lazily written, one dimensional shonen trash heroes, you know the kind liked by little kids in Japan hence the term Shonen, like Dragon Ball, go watch that, that's more your speed.

Alex Brown • 8 months ago

Go back and suck your mom's breast milk. We don't need infants coming in here talking crap about our shows because there's actual emotion being shown and because it evokes emotion in the audience instead of being one dimensional bland characters.
