Anime always drop content from novels or manga cause Time Slots. Unless its MASSIVELY popular to a stupid degree. Then its almost a cardinal sin. Thats when they start making shit up with the author to drag out the episode count or movies for more $$.

Or they make shit like Boruto after the main story ends.

It's not just jumping over whole arcs they are also adding in the filler stories for no reason and that takes up time in episodes that could've been used to tell more of the main story.
