why?

It's the infinite scrolling for dopamine hits. Your body is programmed to give you a hit of "feel-good" hormones every time you accomplish something or learn something new. But insta, facebook, etc (and games like candy crush, priconne, etc.) are designed to give you infinite, unending dopamine hits. You literally get addicted to scrolling, pressing buttons, etc, and overdo it until your neurons burn out (or maybe it's your body building some kind of dopamine resistance). Then you go into a chemical depression until everything can reset itself.

I gotta say that I'm a fan of both Hairo and Izusu, I love whenever great characters are introduced and I would love to see more stuff with them in future episodes... even better, let's have all elves and their miko join for a big event or something, now that's gonna be a great episode!

Also, judging by the last scene... it seems the whole "mortality and immortality" topic will be one of the main plot points moving on, Izusu finally said what me and others were thinking... and Koito took it like a champ, which was surprising because I had the impression that such fact didn't crossed her mind... but I think Koito knows deep inside that she will eventually grow old and die while Elda will not.

And that will make things very interesting... because it means that Koito understands and accepts her mortality while Elda seems to hate to think about that everyone she loves will eventually die, so my take is that Koito will probably help Elda to finally come to terms with what mortality means.

I am kinda glad they don't make it overtly over melodramatic. Sure, it is a fact that will happen, but they prefer to focus on the today and more of their slice of life shenanigans.
Although they are probably saving that arc you mentioned for the ending of the manga this anime is adapting, Probably ending with a time skip to the future (say 100 years), showing Elda in the future, travelling around the world, inspired by Koito's wish to travel outside. Even if she is still the same Otaku we know (is just that she is now an otaku that now goes outside).

Although Hopefully I am wrong and then focus more on their daily life shenanigans.
