Radian looks nice but how could you convince some R users to switch from outstanding Rstudio to Radian?

radian ist just an improved R console. You shouldn't compare it to an IDE - that's a completely different field.

I think that's the wrong way of thinking about this. As I mentioned in the post, radian, is a modern console for R. It only intentionally addresses the Console tab part of RStudio. For a chunk of my workflow that's just fine with me (I'm not a big RStudio user for my own work, though my students use it, I teach courses with it and recommend it to people) because I'm used to doing some of my work in a bare bash terminal locally, or remotely via SSH on a 20-core workstation in my lab, where RStudio doesn't even run.

Got it! Thanks for your feedback!

Did you ever consider using vim? It has a very nice R plugin called Nvim-R.

Gavin Simpson • 5 years ago

No; vim and I have never seen eye to eye. But that plugin looks nice if we did.

Nvim-r integrates with radian https://github.com/randy3k/...

I'm trying to get radian to run in vs code on mac. how can i verify that radian is running? what should my settings look like to ensure radian is running? whenever i run code rn, it opens a r interactive terminal. from my understanding radian should be opening a python terminal. so, i am very confused.
