I have been here over eight and one half decades. For better or worse, I have been able to read
at what was then an adult level and write (you know -cursive) for eighty of those years. I more often than not can't help but thinking that it may have been for the worse. I was eight years old and in the third grade when we were connived into the Second World War. There were news outlets then, along with the propaganda. My grandmother made sure that I read both, and when there was something local that government did, that I could see the differences between what was said and what was done. The same with what what taught in school and what the people involved said, and did, at the time. To me it appeared for a time that mathematics and physics would be an area in which I could be a school teacher without propagandizing and deceiving. Not so. Even there the delusion of liberty is cultivated and unwitting slavery is indoctrinated. After trying to make some difference by active participation in the political party system, a place where candor and honesty are almost forbidden traits, it became apparent that most do not want the spell of delusion in which they live to be broken. Thus, the carnage wrought by the psychopaths that we keep being manipulated into political leadership will run its course to the same catastrophic end that has befallen almost all of the empires that preceded ours.

Question for Americans: Do you remember where you were when you realized that we are the bad guys?

Yes. It was during the Viet Nam War. (I've been on earth six decades too, like the author of the piece) We daily heard reports of the carnage sown by US forces, the same forces that "we" always called "our troops," sent by "our government." I resolved then - nearly half a century ago - that never more would I refer to the US in first person. For me, it has never since been "us" or "ours" but "the US" this and "the US" that. Always third person. The regime serves the elite, the ruling class, the "deep state" or whatever one calls it. It does not serve us, the people.

After we hit that reef nobody will miss us. Trump's regime change in Venezuela has been a total failure (no doubt the stimulus for Rubio's tweet). North Korea and Iran do not appear to be worried by our threats (Iran said the aircraft carriers Trump sent to the region make a good target), the Taliban still have the upper hand after all these years of the longest war in Afghanistan. Iraq wants to kick the US troops out of their country (who could blame them). Our top most expensive fighter jets can't fly in the rain, apparently being too tender. We're no longer the leader in developing technology. Our infrastructure is so crappy that I got a letter from PG&E (who burned down my house in the town of Paradise, CA) saying they will be shutting off our power this summer at the height of heat waves though nobody seems to be asking just why our infrastructure is so bad that this needs to be done (the answer is profit of course, you know, that ever loving bottom line of capitalism) though PG&E will tell you it's for your safety they're just covering their ass as you swelter in 105 degree heat. The US is becoming or is already a joke, and a bad one at that. Despite all this there's plenty of money for new wars and extending old wars. So it's hard to tell just how much longer it will be before our Mafioso government will run out of money. But when that happens the one thing I'm sure of is most of the rest of the world will be a happier place.
