I had the Galaxy Watch 6, 6 Classic, Pixel Watch 2 and Ultra Watch 2. Good for Samsung switching things up and the bigger watch will definitely mean bigger battery life but, if they want people to spend 700 on one of their watches they need to fix the sluggish response time of their watches. I won't piss anyone off and compare it to any of the other watches. But for anyone who has the Watch 6 you have to admit things are not snappy and especially so when the watch first wakes up after a notification. Every year I think it'll be quicker and run more fluid than previous years but nope. And then I just switch back to a different watch. I wish they'd move over to the Qualcomm W5. Maybe that'd help? I don't know. I just know for me there's no way I'd spend that kind of money on a watch that runs like a Galaxy watch, no matter the battery size.

100%

The Watch 6 Classic is the worst of the bunch that I've owned and compared to the Apple Watch Ultra (I also owned), it is night and day. I don't like iPhone at all but their watches are the best as far as software and "smoothness" and interaction. Samsung's watches still beat them as far as interesting features but the software is one problem after another. Also, my Watch 6 Classic is the FIRST to scratch and ive owned every once since the beginning. My favorite remains the Gear S that thing was the future. Curved glass and so stylish. I miss that type of innovation.

If this is just a fancy case and a huge battery with the same software I'm waiting for it to go on sale.

I can definitely second that. I own a Watch 4 Classic and the bluetooth lag is killing me. Adjusting the volume using watch is delayed like 1.5 to 2 seconds. Spotify app on the watch is very sketchy. Interface loads so slowly, lagging a lot, again changing songs is delayed like 1.5 to 2 seconds. I tried Apple Watch SE in 2022, the first gen one, a very old Apple Watch by today's standards. But it was a lot faster and snappy than my current Watch 4 Classic. And above me user n900mixa1ot says Watch 6 Classic is also laggy, so not much changed. I doubt anything will change with Watch 7 Ultra, it will still be laggy mess because the components are the same. Same processor, albeit manufactured in a smaller node (5 vs 3nm) but same low processing capabilities will still be there. Samsung's Exynos processors really suck.

Watch prices are the old cell phone prices and used as an "accessory" to the cell phone itself. Personally, I will not spend more than $250 on this type of accessory and that's before any trade-in. - my 2 cents

I wasn't super hot on the Watch 5 Pro renders when they first came out, but it ended up being one of my favorite watch designs in the past 5 years. So, I'll reserve judgement until I see this thing on a wrist.

Price, you don't buy anything Samsung close to MSRP so I'll also reserve judgement until we see what trade-in values are. I suspect that there is only going to be an LTE sku for this much like the Apple Watch Ultra which means it's should be compared to the $499 launch price of the LTE Watch 5 Pro.

However, unlike with the Watch 5 Pro where the only thing they did to differentiate it from the watch 5 (aside from physical design) was the battery size, they better have other enhancements on this watch over the others in the lineup to justify the $200 jump from the Watch 5 Pro.

I wonder what (if anything) justifies that huge pricetag...

Pretty ugly

Besides bigger battery and more precise GPS, what does this have over the 6 Classic? The screen size is the same I read.

$700 is crazy. Also this design is awful. I will happily stick with my watch 6, I'm not giving up that physical rotating bezel

Call me when Samsung (or Apple) makes a watch as good as my Garmin Tactix 7 and I'll break open the piggy bank. It cost me $1300, and hasn't hardly been off my wrist since the day I got it. My wife is just as glued to hers too. We've both tried Samsung and Apple watches. They both feel like cheap toys to me.

I was actually considering one I can't stand the awful battery life of the GW6 Classic, but at $700 no way, no thanks.

jer85008 • 1 week ago

The design is weird and I love it. But I was expecting a price more like $599 not $699. If Sammy offers a good pre-order discount/trade-in for my Watch 6 I'll probably still dive in.

TheDarkJaguar • 1 week ago

Being that I used to collect and wear G-Shock watches, the design doesn't bother me. The price on the other hand...

If it will cost more then 400$-450$ no one is going to guy it...
i will personally go for Huawei...

High end smart watches are expensive. Especially when it comes to Android that is the only way to ensure that the watch performs reasonably well. Having just switched from iPhone to Android the performance of my Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is atrociously bad, even compared to the non-Ultra Apple Watch.

Carpentractor • 1 week ago

I don't hate it as much as I should 😂

Fortunately, as a smart watch pioneer, I know longer lust after them as much as real watches. I often rock my 18 year old Seiko quartz to many compliments with nothing more than a battery change every 4 years or so. Meanwhile, I have a drawer full of useless smart watches. I'm not totally out, but they are going to have to convince me with the full package, and honestly they ain't close. Google's first smart watches were frankly far more cohesive and we'll thought out than anything I've seen since. It's actually really disheartening. Anyhow, for $700 USD or whatever these will be, you can pick up a cool micro brand automatic watch that you could probably give to your kids.

Genkidama • 1 week ago

I'm not a fan of this design. If the watches are that expensive, I want them to be able to be used independent of the phone. IPhone is so close to being independent of the phone

Godzilla • 1 week ago

So here's the thing with that price. If people are willing to pay it, so be it. Apple set that precedent so you can thank them for it. However, Samsun, as a pixel user, for 700 bucks, you should not have any Galazy exclusive features on the watch. All the functions of the watch should work on ANY Android phone.

OOF! Seven-hundo! I'll keep my 6 Ultra. I hope the "Hey Bixby" response time is better on the 7, though.

lol. this look just like a toy

Cprsmrrcr3 • 1 week ago

Unless they are giving a ridiculous trade in for my watch 6 classic or 5 pro I will be skipping this one. I do not like the design and I know that is an opinion but I love that the samsung watches always look like a watch first

s0nic69 • 1 week ago

I like that they kept the round look. But what will justify the Ultra name? I could consider that price point of the watch but the bigger question in my head is... What makes this ultra?
