Hi guys, one of our readers think the following method might be of help to you, so we post it here under his name:
"Alan Silverman says:
The article might be helpful for some people, but it leaves out the solution that worked for me. I finally went to the Logitech support site and downloaded the Setpoint software. I then heard the sound that indicates a new piece of hardware has been detected, and the instruction screen then appeared, asked me to turn the mouse off and back on, and it's worked perfectly ever since. I got this tip from another user who had posted a suggestion."

Hope it helps you with this problem.

Feel free to leave your comment if you think there are more methods that we can add to the post. :-)

Didn't work for me. I don't really know what the problem is. The keyboard and mouse both work, but Windows 10 doesn't recognize the dongle as a unifying receiver. Even after installing the unifying software, Device Manager says no drivers are installed for Logitech Cordless Device.

Justin Burns • 2 years ago

This worked for me. Thank you!

Micah Kelly • 10 months ago

This worked for me. I literally installed every OTHER piece of software they had, none of which could see my receivers. For some reason setpoint can.

Arrappp • 1 year ago

IT WORKED! THANK YOU SO MUCH

thetourist • 2 years ago

You rock! I even contacted logi and couldnt give me directions. Thanks a lot!!!!

Peer Adder • 2 years ago

Setpoint worked for me too. The description says it includes new drivers, but unless you know to look at this specific piece of software on the logitech website you'd never find it.

Tim Ryan • 3 years ago

Thank you! This finally fixed it.

Awesome! Works like charm

Silverman's solution also worked for me. Spent 3 hours fooling around with Logitech solutions with no success. After reading Silverman post, I downloaded Setpoint software. During the download and install, I also hear the "new hardware" sound. Ran the Setpoint software and dongle was finally recognized. I had to unpair the device after starting Setpoint in order to proceed further. This was with a Logitech M545 mouse, Lenovo ideapad 320 running Windows 10. Alan, you are my hero for today!

Avner Falk • 2 years ago

There is a much simpler solution. Install Logitech Set Point 6.70. This will install the updated drivers for the Logitech Unifying Receiver and the receiver will work with any Logitech device using Logitech Unifying Software or Logitech Options.

Mindaugas Aputis • 2 years ago

This is the only option that worked for me. Thanks.

ebizel • 7 years ago

None of these work for me. It is the contacts in the dongle that are causing the problem. They are not making complete contact with usb port. There are two options:

1. take apart the dongle and place a piece of paper in so it raises the contacts up a little.
2. Take a pin and very carefully pull the contact points of the usb ports out a little so they make better contact. Please be careful with this option as you could damage the usb port and nothing will work in the port and there is not fixing that.

I used the 2nd option because this computer is for an employee that uses the same logitech model keyboard and mouse and fixing the dongle is not a good option.

Guillaume Lannoo (G4rF) • 4 years ago

A quick method to determine if the contacts are the cause of the trouble :
- insert the dongle nearly completely, leaving about 2mm out of the USB port
- keep your finger on the asterisk logo of the dongle, not pushing too hard (you don't wanna break stuff), just exerting a little bit of pressure
- see if the peripheral is correctly recognized by the computer
- release the pressure and see if the peripheral seems to be K.O.
If the peripheral works while pressing on the dongle and stops when releasing pressure, then the contacts are the cause of your problem.
A mountain of thanks to ebizel for this very useful and critical information.

WOW this Was the cause, I think I love you.
Thank you very much to both ebizel and G4rF, you helped me overcome problems of months!

OMG... you beauty. I have spent hours working with this... This worked a treat. Thank you!!!

Michael Visser • 6 years ago

Legend, that did it, I used a fine flat-head to raise the orange tab a few millimeters; was about to buy my 5th or 6th Unifier over the years.

ConcernedMOuseUser • 4 years ago

Ho-lee-crap - this is such a dead thread and I have absolutely no clue if you'll ever see this but you just resolved a whole night's worth of searching through logitech's very poorly labeled documentation, the dark depths of the Device Manager, and more - a simple flathead did the job. It's the simple solutions that are the hardest to find, thanks!

Mathew Woods • 2 years ago

The article above didn't help me. It just said everything every other article says.

But there is hope. I solved this the most simple way ever...

Make sure you have Unifying Software and TeamViewer or some other remote control app open first, and set to open automatically with windows if you plan to restart. (I didn't)

1) Plug in any and all offending receivers and switch ON any mouse/keyboards that are mixed up in your pairing. We need to 'untangle' falsely paired devices.

2) Go to Device Manager and uninstall all the wtf LoGiTeCh DeViCeS then uninstall the WORKING HID Keyboard AND Mouse. 2 Separate drivers. (This is why Teamviewer is open)

3) Unplug all receivers and turn OFF switches on all devices.

4) Restart you computer if you like doing that. Again, I did it without. Fill your boots.

5) Plug in a receiver you want to be the master and let the driver do its thing (15 seconds max)

6) Open unifying software with TeamViewer or an already working paired keyboard/mouse

7) Follow the steps.

"Next" should now be clickable.

If this helps you, do something nice for someone else :)

To avoid this happening, I would avoid EVER plugging in 2 of these receivers at the same time. It's like going back to the past and shaking your own hand. The drivers are sloppily written and windows just does the shrug emoji when you try.

Mathew Woods • 2 years ago

*Repeat steps 5 through 7 for for any subsequent pairings. If you have 3 receivers and 3 mouse/keyboard combos for different computers, you can do them all on this computer and then unplug them and move them to a different one and they will retain their pairing. Remember, don't ever plug in 2 receivers at the same time, or you're gonna have a bad time

None of these suggestions (from the author or any from the comments) worked for me so I cracked it and uninstalled EVERYTHING that was Logitech (I had to go and hunt for an old Dell mouse I had in a drawer).
I turned of the MX Master 2S and also uninstalled all of the HID-compliant mouses (mice?) until I hit the Dell mouse and I was left with nothing.
I then plugged the Dell mouse into another USB port and now knew which HID-compliant mouse was the Dell mouse - I uninstalled the rest (with all the troubleshooting, I had 7 HID-compliant mice!).
Then, with the MX Master 2S mouse still off, I plugged in the unifying receiver and installed the Unifying software as administrator (which I never knew existed until I found this post).
I then clicked on the Unifying software button (as admin for good measure) and.......................
FINALLY; I had a detectable unifying receiver detected!
I then just followed the on screen instructions which were basically to turn the MX Master 2S back on and allow it to connect - which it did in a few seconds.
I then carefully packed the old Dell corded mouse away in a spot I'll remember (for when this happens again)..
I hope this may help someone else that was about to settle for using a corded mouse despite having three MX Master 2S's (all different colours; black, white and graphite) working well on other systems in the house.
Good luck! Sorry for the waffle............. :)

the first method works for me , I copied 2 files from windows 10 to windows 7. You are brilliant

Anders Algotsson • 4 years ago

DriversCloud will give you problems with Logitech Unify driver. Uninstall does not sort it out, you have to use Windows System Restore and find the point where DriversCloud were installed. After it is done restart computer an extra time. For me Google Chrome failed to open after, but it was solved by reinstall Chrome.
I think never use third party software for driver upgrade - use manufactures site!

gregge • 5 years ago

Here's an odd one. A Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse combo, both with the Unifying logo. The mouse died. I was able to use the latest (hasn't been updated since 2014!) Unifying software for Windows to un-pair the mouse.

Yesterday the Dell branded Logitech keyboard quits working. I run the Unifying software and it reports there's no Unifying receiver. WTH? I've a couple extra receivers I've found left in PCs that have been thrown away. Swap receivers and there it is, I can un-pair the mouse that was with the 'new' receiver and pair the keyboard with it. All is good.

Then I notice *the old receiver doesn't have the unifying logo*. How did it work with the software to un-pair the mouse from it, then later fail to recognize it?

The model number of the Unifying but not(?) receiver is C-U0010

setpoint worked like a charm! I've been struggling with this problem for 3 weeks and something so simple fixes the problem... o_o

The Setpoint solution from Sophie really worked for me and then I had to setup the Unifying Software again for my 780 keyboard and 720 mouse. my setup is to have one keyboard and mouse operating 3 computers ( 2 pc's and 1 Mac) after downloading and installing the setpoint software the mouse finally connected and then I had to hold down the device selection buttons to get them to pair again and used the Unifying software to tell the computer what device I wanted to connect. it asked me to turn the mouse off and then back on again and also the keyboard. now I am back up I can use the mouse and keyboard for all three computers now by selecting which one on the selection of the devices, I also use Synergy when I have all three computers on. but if I don't use all three this gives me the option to just select which device from my keyboard and Mouse, Love the Logitech 780 keyboard and the 720 Mouse. thanks Sophie. Option 1 worked for me. My issue was with a lenovo M73 desktop. Had to copy files form a HP desktop and paste them to the desktop and then move them into the inf folder. Next hit update driver from device manager and then both wireless mouse and keyboard worked. Thanks for the help

Janderson • 7 years ago

Thank you SO much for this. Method #2 worked for me.
Cheers!

Devon • 7 years ago

My mouse works perfectly fine and I have no problems with it it's juts I have a different Logitech mouse that I prefere, and when ever I try and use the unifying soft ware to sync the receiver with the good mouse it says I don't have a receiver plugged in even tho, I'm using the mouse at the same time lol. I tried multiple methods and none of them worked for me. If anyone could give me some advice that would be a huge help. PS I have nothing wrong with ur methods I think u did a good thing it's juts they didn't work for me

Sophie Luo • 7 years ago

Hi, Devon.

Would you please be more clear about the notification that you saw when you tried to sync your receiver?

Are you sure that your receiver works properly and that it is plugged into a working port on your PC? P.S. Please do not use USB hubs or any other similar devices, just plug the receiver directly into the USB ports on your computer.

Please rely at your earliest convenience so we will better figure out what more we can do to help.

Brady John Price • 6 years ago

Maybe Devon figured it out because he never replied. I'm having the same issue he described though. I tried all of these solutions but to no avail. I lost my logitech receiver so i ordered a new one. Its for the logitech G602 gaming mouse. I ordered the exact same receiver but i can't get my PC or my wife's mac to recognize it.

I downloaded Logitech's re-connect software but when it says "plug in one wireless receiver" it says "There is no wireless receiver plugged into your computer". However, when i plug it in, it makes the sound that it recognized something was plugged into the computer. Please help :(

Rahul • 6 years ago

Hey, I have the G602 gaming mouse as well and my original receiver stopped functioning so I ordered a new one and it's giving me the same issue as yours. What should I do?

method 3 worked for me !

Ryan • 7 years ago

Step 2 did the trick. Motion joy.. who knew? If it doesn't work after removing multiple ds3 searches in re-edit reboot a couple times or switch USB ports.
Cheers and good luck.
