that sneer in the waffle maker's bf's face highlights the prejudice in that society against those who are disadvantaged or different in any way or poor, divorced, etc. Value system needs a revamp cos people have to apologize for being born imperfect!

Hera • 1 year ago

That god-damn sneer followed by the awful, fxcking comment " how let that freak go around on his own on the first place"...Really????!!!!! He deserved a full on hand-wide-open slap on that filthy face and dirty mouth of his.
And it was him who got his fxcking hands of Mr Lion here...so how come that he is not also behind bars? And do they really had to handcuff him too?? Honestly...level upon level of injustice, bigotry, and fuckery. If being from a low social status, having no money of connections is frown upon and used as an "scarlet letter" of sorts, you add disability and that brings the disturbing social "game" to yet another level....I wonder if it is just Kdrama-land though, or reflects Korean society's upfront disdain for disability in some degree?

LornaLo1 • 1 year ago

yup. They behave as if they will never have the possibility of giving birth to a baby with such or similar disadvantaged condition. So judgmental and critical. The way the pair sat there, feeling superior and righteous in judging and in trampling down others. It's terrible.

Strlen • 1 year ago

Hopefully people being prejudgemental watch series like this and learn to see the other side of things and get more educated.

Strlen • 1 year ago

Hopefully it's progressing in the right way. At least the last years productions of kdrama has changed a lot. At least 3 high quality productions depicting persons on the spectrum in main roles with awesome actors and I'm not sure but the lgbtqia+ are represented in a positive way too. Living in a country where we moved ahead a bit further (altough a lot more can be done) i got hopes for Korea too, when i grew up no one was gay or had a mental disability - they were hidden away or hiding. A LOT changed the last 20 years!

Yoonmi Kim • 1 year ago

SK, isn't doing that much better on disability from last reports I've had. Disability, particularly learning disabilities aren't recognized and often those kids are left to basically die an academic death in schools, instead of being given accommodations. So they live life thinking they are "stupid" whereas if they were given a chance, they'd be called brilliant.

The whole teacher line about math anxiety. And I'm sitting here as a Korean with a math disability I inherited from my Korean Father... yeah, sometimes it's not just "anxiety" but a legit learning disability. I have a mild version, but I've met people with more severe versions.

BTW, I called out Korean writers for portraying autistic people in how they relate to allistic terms. Because often they are portrayed as being a pain in the butt, or savant. And I kinda was ticked off, so I requested a high functioning autistic person in a drama that was neither of those extremes.

Also kind of requested straight up something about the wheelchair thing that native Koreans made a fuss about and asked them to be invisible about, which was really recent. So don't think because the portrayal is getting better that's how SKs think.

Remember that dramas are the ideal, not real life. Most people don't live in 2 bedroom apartments on low salaries with really expensive 50K won+ phones.

Eva Pohl • 1 year ago

I also feel they never met anybody on spectrum that they actually paid attention to. This is a 3rd on in couple of years where we are being served 'Rain Man' over and over again.
As to the rest... Well, talking about disability, women´s rights, lgbtqi+ issues is still taboo in SK! SO, I would not dare to think there is any improvement happening. They seem to have been protesting this sh.t already 15 years ago if I remember right and nothing changed other than more people being able to show evidence thanks to better mobiles.

The dramas are made in a way in which they can be sold to West. This is now in NETFLIX. It might not have been if it did not deal with child abandonment, disability, poverty and unfairness of being a woman. Without it, it is just a fluff and there is great deal of senseless fluff coming from other places.

That scene made me SO upset. I wish she gave the boyfriend an ass whooping rather than apologizing. It's not a crime to be disabled. It's not a crime to visit an employee every single day in a public place (Lion Fanboy never harassed the employee). I understand she was forced to apologize to get charges dropped, but she didn't have to be so ashamed :((

It's was a thing back in the 90s/pre-2010s for that sort of scenario to be common place. And it was far far worse then even this back then, hell, people were getting off'd by gangs and mobs because of how much hatred there was towards disabled/autistic/special needs demographics at the time.

This is just a continuation of the hatred in a modern setting, which is 100% still a legit thing today. People are just being smarter about the words they use or avoid when lashing out at the victims.

Rusheda Evans • 1 year ago

His actions and comments were uncalled for then he pressed charges for an altercation that he started, like make it make sense and then he was gonna be disrespectful and call him a freak.

MamyPokoPants • 6 months ago

Because he took advantage that Jae-Woo couldn’t argue to defend himself.

Piece D • 7 months ago

If you treat everyone around you bad you will get the same treatment ( law of attration )
And it will look like all people are bad or weak

But its not like that ( they created an environment of "hell" around them and they live "there" )

So you dont need to ask for justice , they are already paying for it in many many ways , they just dont know why
Its really hard to find the important vallues in life without conscience or heart
I have is not I AM 😇

No words for this scene..... I'm rolling on the floor 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 https://uploads.disquscdn.c...https://uploads.disquscdn.c...https://uploads.disquscdn.c...https://uploads.disquscdn.c...

same...just could not control my laugh..her bringing belt & them seeing leads together...lol...now they have to keep saying its just misunderstanding...hehehe

K-Everything Addict • 1 year ago

Just when i thought that the series cannot get funnier. It does. I had to pause my video so that i vould laugh for a good 10 minutes. This scene was priceless.

cindydoo • 1 year ago

But really, the assistant should just mind his own business. ML can associate with whomever he wishes. He doesn't need to explain to anyone for his own personal actions.

Doreamon Chingu • 1 year ago

Oh he does. May be not if it was any other woman. But this one is a mother of a ex-student who the academy banned from. It is not really good for his image which his assistant takes care of. An affair itself is frown upon specially in Asian countries. And she is supposed to be 'married' women and a mother of a student.

I'll be rooting for you two... Bad boys sometimes are the best choice... And no toxic mother's 🥺🥺🥺 https://uploads.disquscdn.c...https://uploads.disquscdn.c...

Cookie 2.0 • 1 year ago

Wouldn't really consider him bad.
Please, no more toxic mothers trying to bother Hae Yi🙏(The preview says otherwise though😭)

Montana • 1 year ago

Yeah I don't see him as bad. He is telling the truth when he says he does not know how to study. That was one of the most aggravating things when I was teaching in Korea. If you were good in sports in middle school then that's all you did. You were in practice all day long and at competitions, then you you would be sent to a sports high school. or a high school with a sports program and that all you would do as well. I was lucky if I saw my athlete students in class once a month. He just never learned how to study, listen, and learn in an academic setting.

Cookie 2.0 • 1 year ago

It's portrayed through Nam Haeng Seon as she was an athlete too. But isn't it difficult for the students like in the case of Geon Hu i.e., in case something happens to them?

한설인 • 11 months ago

did attendance not matter?

Hera • 1 year ago

I don´t think he is bad boy though...just more of a "lone wolf" sort of guy, having had a completely different focus from the rest of the study-focus lot and not having attended school much apparently. I do root for him too! ^^

KimcheeLover • 1 year ago

Me too! The guy with the toxic mother is giving weird vibes that I don't like... As if the red flags are just waiting to pop up...
I'd love to be wrong though...

Pi = Wi Pi....lol,

that hockey player is so funny...dont know who is paired with the daughter, her guy friend or hockey guy
So both the boys have crush on her now..:)

hira • 1 year ago

I prefer the hockey player, the other boy is gud himself, but his mum is clearly a NO NO....

redtwilight • 1 year ago

Yeah, and tbh it would cause too much stress for both him and HY because his mom is unhinged and most definitely would try to make him choose between the mom and the girl.

hira • 1 year ago

yeah....

remosalsa • 1 year ago

yaa..hope the hockey guy is not 2nd lead for her..cause he has bit less screen time with her, then the first guy...her focus is not yet with any of them, where as both boys r just into her :), & she has no idea about it :)

Lingbuyi • 1 year ago

I hope he is the ml for the daughter too cuz if you notice they have kinda similar story to the main leads too the hocky player is just like the fl who quit the sport while the daughter and ml are genius ones

Vebin • 1 year ago

Someone else noticed this too 🙏
Maybe it's foreshadowing which ship will win.

remosalsa • 1 year ago

Yaa… & she suits with him more then the friend guy

Vebin • 1 year ago

I don't mind if she ends up with Sun Jae, but Hockey guy and Hae Yi scenes have more spark.

remosalsa • 1 year ago

Exactly…. With Hockey guy she suits well… as both r opp in nature

they've been setting up a romance with the hockey player for some time now

simi11 • 1 year ago

I don't know why, that scene wasn't exactly meant to be funny, but I had to chuckle when I saw the three wannabe evil ones at the restaurant plotting their next hate-comments on social media. From now on, when people on the internet are being nasty, I'm going to imagine them having life-wasting little back-room meetings like this dicussing their next move in how best to spin hateful comments out of nothing. LOL

here for mess. • 1 year ago

reminds me of the 3 ex assistants in crazy love discussing how they ruined his day everyday lmao

It's VERY obvious that Jae Woo is on the spectrum to anyone with actual eyes even upon first glance. For that barista to act like that was ridiculous. I understand you feeling weird that someone found out your schedule even after you changed it (to get away from him obviously) but you should take that up with the coworker who gave your schedule away, outright and he hasn't done a single thing to her outside of trying to wipe the chocolate off her hands. There is definitely a prejudice there but I'm glad she used her brain and saw how much his sister is trying to just keep their life from falling apart. It would be very difficult to live with someone who needs to stick to a specific routine and doesn't pick up on social cues but it doesn't mean that person should be locked up and never let out of the house. They are human. They need to breathe and live their life just like anyone else. People who think they have no right to be "out walking around" deserve to have brain damage so they can see how it feels when people treat you differently for something completely out of your control. All it takes is a bit of understanding and patience and whats sad is that most of the people I've met who are on the spectrum are super kind and try hard to communicate their needs and thought process (no she had chocolate on her hands, no I was trying to wipe the chocolate) and they automatically expect others to be kind and understanding but its rarely ever the case. People would rather be ugly to each other.

On a lighter note, this show is so funny and I love the cast. It's refreshing to see him in a role like this. I do like his crime/serious roles but this is relaxing in a way but of course we can't have a romance without some crime going on behind the scene. I feel like these two might tell people they are dating to cover up the tutoring thing and then it will come true. It's so funny that he's the math genius yet he didn't expect a single variable :D

Strlen • 1 year ago

+1 on all of the above.

here for mess. • 1 year ago

as a former barista, that incident pissed me off. it's not unusual for regulars to come at the same time everyday due to their routine. the way schedules work sometimes, usually you get the same person everyday.

the problem is the coworker was not supposed to reveal what time she worked for safety reasons. it was clear the boyfriend has a prejudice and was on the aggresssive

cedric • 1 year ago

If it was me I would have publicly shamed the cafe owner for not training employees well in diversity and inclusion etiquette.

remosalsa • 1 year ago

her brother watching & thinking about Tigers reminds me so much of Attorney Woo about her whale knowledge...so cute..
leads interactions r so fun in the show, whenevr they on screen together..it just brings smile on ur face...he already blends well with her family :)..
poor guy seems to be lonely, & when hes with her...he just shines up :)

Moonlight • 1 year ago

This drama makes me laugh and cry. Why is the coffee girl being dramatic? he only asks for her waffles nothing else, that doesn't make him a stalker and the boyfriend is acting like some spoiled jerk with that attitude of his. He thinks hes better than everyone else. Poor jae- woo, he had to face all that. Why dont people try to be understanding of others. That whole scene made me cry.

How is someone who comes in and asks for only your waffles and says nothing else to you a stalker!!! Shes tripping 🤣 so Delusional
