Jeesh, Duckusucker, after years of immersion in Yeon's work, I could not have described the house or the man any more succinctly. Thank you.

BEAUTIFUL room in Watzek house.

Yeon is the great, unknown American architect – a pioneer and creator of the NW school of architecture. His Watzek jewel-box house is every bit as sensational as Fallingwater, yet in a Zen-quiet way.

Each room is a master class in arts-and-crafts level design with wood as the material of choice. The nuances of light that flow through and accentuate the textured, worked expanses of wood were carefully thought out: no massive walls of glazing to overpower spaces. "Bring the outside in?" This is one of the few homes I've visited where the designer knew exactly how to do it: when the visitor beholds a garden view, it is worth the sighting.

Yeon built few things, he was a man with many varied interests. But (like Vermeer, for instance) what he left behind were beautiful, unique, and joyous creations that are impossible to behold without smiling. Less, indeed, is more and Yeon is a master at whose feet all architecture students should be given the opportunity to learn.

Thank you for these beautiful words about my late great uncle’s work. Your appreciation of his work means so very much. Warmest regards, Jeneé Yeon, Montana.
