Another update on cheap bus to/from Sydney Mascot airport - you can get the 420 Bus that goes from Rockdale to both terminals and then Mascot Station. Timetable here: https://transportnsw.info/d...

Please be advised the Sydney 400 bus from Rockdale no longer goes to the airport. The cheap way to get to the international terminal, is via train to Wolli Creek Station, and it's a 25 min walk via the park/playing fields footpath with joins up to the cycle path that goes above the busy road and takes you straight into the International Terminal car park, next to the terminal.

Do take note that Tullamarine Airport IS Melbourne Airport for a reason: it's the only major airport in the Greater Melbourne area. Avalon on the other hand is in the city of Geelong and is not in Greater Melbourne (enjoy the 45 minute drive up the Princes). SkyBus and taxis are the only public transport options to and from Avalon as there are no local Myki-ticketed bus routes directly serving that airport, not even from the nearest V/Line station at Lara which is where the shuttle buses depart whenever the Avalon Airshow is running.

Also an additional note regarding changing from the 901 to the train at Broady, do not try to join the purple 'Southern Cross' trains, those are V/Line regional services and they will not pick up passengers from Broady heading into the city. The trains you're looking for will be the blue trains either going to 'Flinders Street' or 'City Loop'. The best one to get to Southern Cross with are the 'Flinders Street' trains as it will be the very next stop after North Melbourne, whereas if you get a 'City Loop' train, you'll either have to ride out the entire loop (Flagstaff > Melbourne Central > Parliament > Flinders Street > Southern Cross) or change at North Melbourne for another train going straight into Southern Cross.

Adelaide Airport in SA has a public bus stop right out the front with a J1 bus that goes straight into town for the cost of a local bus fare. Have used this many times. As someone who lives in Brisbane and flies to Adelaide to see family I have been disgusted at having to pay $20 every time i want to go to the airport.

It was actually cheaper to take the train to Varsity Lakes and then a bus to Gold Coast airport
