In this case, the boycott is directed against Israeli institutions not individuals and it is an important and peaceful way for people to protest the Israeli state’s shameful treatment of Palestinians. More than 60 laws discriminate against Palestinians who are citizens in Israel, and the oppression of the Palestinians in the Occupied Territories is terrible. I have seen the daily barriers placed by the current right wing government in the way of teaching and learning in Palestinian universities. Please visit the West Bank before you blithely claim that Israel is a democratic state.
