My hunch is that telepathy is similar in that the potential exists in all of us but we are just encouraged to not notice. Minds synchronize with other minds when communicating is the provable mechanism. I also suspect that is the reason a lot of highly intelligent people are socially awkward is because their brains are synchronizing with brains that are wired incompatibly.

With all due respect, perhaps if you’d stop thinking of yourself as so superior to others you’d be less socially awkward and apart. You have much more in common with your fellow man than your perceived differences...

I have often thought the same; when you consider that by vocalizing sounds (words) we can transmit pictures into another person's mind---this seems like a form of telepathy when you boil it down.
