Speaking of train stations, if only there was an architect already involved that also specializes in work for Amtrak, oh wait, there is.
No one ever talks about this but I have a sneaky suspicion that the tracks play a much bigger part in this purchase than what they are mentioning. Those tracks go out to Ann Arbor which is where the people are that they want and to be able to offer an easy train ride to and from work each day.....in Detroit??.....yea...that track will see life again.
Ford has also invested on the UofM Campus and their engineering facilities and the American Center for Mobility. These tracks also travel through Dearborn to the very north of their tech center and proving grounds, as well as being close to UofM-Dearborn and the Ford World HQ. In addition there is another line of tracks that go right from MCS straight to the north boarder the Metro Airport (these jobs are often globally mobile). Then theirs FCA's C-suite offices in Detroit and proving grounds in Chelsea - where this Detroit to Ann Arbor line should extend to cover the entirety of Washtenaw Co. And, MCS also provides a possible rail connection from Windsor. This line is Metro Detroit's most vital for it's assets places in a singular line.
That train track to Ann Arbor runs through Dearborn too. The John Dingell Transit Center (an Amtrak stop) is about a mile west of Ford's Glass House headquarters. It could possibly serve as the commuter hub for light rail service between Ann Arbor and Corktown. https://www.crainsdetroit.c...
Make it happen.
There needs to be a transit connection between MCS and Downtown in this project if it is to have the effect they're looking for.
