Hi, I was wondering if there is any alternative to the dry chillies. Im worried the curry would be too spicy for the little ones.
Halo Sushma,
You may try using kashmiri dry red chillies instead of our normal dry red chillies. Kashmiri dry red chilies' spiciness is very low compared to the normal dry red chilies..
Just wanted to let you know I made this to it for my dad with fake soy mutton (we're vegetarian) and it came out awesome! Were Brahmin so he's never tasted anything quite like it! Added some lemon juice and tomatoes to make up for the meat flavor though haha
OMG!!! Dear Swetha, thank you so so so very much for looking into my recipe. I don't know why, but your feedback gives me immense pleasure Swetha! Good one, but is it not necessary to add, Ginger & Garlic paste ??
Hello Uma,
Thank you! My co-sister taught me how to make this mutton gravy recipe. She added just this: cumin, coriander, onions, red chilies and poppy seeds. She did not use any ginger garlic paste. I too had doubts before seeing her make the recipe, like, how will the gravy be flavorful without adding ginger garlic paste. But once I tasted the gravy... wow.... the cumin and the coriander gave all their flavors to the gravy! Try it and let me know if you liked it Uma.

Planning to post Sivakasi Mutton Varuval too. It's also very simple to make.
Major flop for me. I thought I'd try it out with 250 grams mutton. The jeera is too much.
awww.... so sorry Jenni.
Kind of you to reply.
Mangala, I have come to your party late. I made this gravy tonight using chicken thighs. Beautiful with rice and Brussels sprouts. Your recipes are totally different for me. I think I must have been cooking northern Indian food as these names are new for me. I love the heat from the peppers and even hotted up the gravy a tad bit more than suggested. This is one of the best recipes which I have had in a long time. I am going to use it as a base for a chili and also a stew. Thanks for sharing.
Lindsay ... oh dear , better late than never! Im so glad that you are liking my recipe :)
Thank you Lindsay for the time you took to write this comment.
You Are like your grandmother, damn slow method!!!
i prepared this recipe today. This is the third time i am making this curry.Taste is good. Both my husband and my kid likes it. The highlight is that the gravy is prepared without adding coconut. The smell and taste resembles my Grandma's mutton curry, Thanks for the recipe. This has become one of my family's favourites.
