hi, i made this for my husband and myself and i followed the recipe word to word and he loved it!!! i loved how you described it. i appreciate all the details right from pictures for each step down to the detail about how many whistles, what type of flame how much time.. lots of recipes online but people fail to include this which makes a world of difference.... thank you so so so so so much!!! :) i am definitely going to check out other recipes!! this recipe came out amazing thanks to you!!!

The same happened with me.i was preparing sambar fr the 1st tim i followed each n everything including tim.my husband was shocked aftr tasting it.he askd u cooked by urself.amazing .thnkq so so much

Ah finally I found your recipe after trying for 2 hours! I had come across this recipe a year back and loved it. Its just like the way my mom used to make it. I couldn't recall the website and google search was fruitless. Thanks for all your recipes and the wonderful way you present them.This time I'll remember to save it.

By the way, this sambar tastes great with Dosas and Idlis too. In fact I like to have dosai with this sambar than the one which is exclusively made for dosa and idli, called "Idli sambar"

you said "red chilly powder" shoud we not use "sambar powder"?

Ram, you may very well use Sambar powder too! You may substitute it for red chilly powder.
