I will pray that Our Lord heals them of this immoral desires.

My late uncle was an old school Jesuit from the 1930's-40's. He was a great theologian and would have wiped the floor with James Martin. My uncle pulled np punches and he well understood Catholic morality especially on matters of homosexuality. Too bad the well-trained Jesuits are a thing of the past.

john smith • 4 years ago

How about focusing on repentance and sacrifice during lent?
This mincing heretic is so obsessed with homosexuality and transgender one wonders why he became a priest. I guess the Jesuits will take anyone.

yvobalcer • 4 years ago

If Father Martin believes God made people to engage in homosexual behavior, then why did God allow anal cancer, torn anus from sexual activity, a higher rate of STDs, and an assortment of physical problems associated with this sexual activity? I am so sorry for being blunt.

I treat every one with the dignity their humanity deserves. I spend Lent focusing on the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah of God, and how he can save me and get me to heaven. As a Catholic priest I wish Father Martin, SJ would pledge to do the same. When you boast, boast in the cross of Christ, as Saint Paul would advise us.

Hedley LaLarr • 4 years ago

Hmmm...
"Four hundred LGBT and Antifa activists descended on approximately 100 Catholics in Broomfield, Colorado Saturday morning outside the local library.

The occasion? A prayer vigil against a drag queen story hour. "

And next, we read...

"Lent is 'a time for people to engage more deeply with LGBT people."

Not too many Traditional Catholics support the old mantra of... "Sticks and stones can break my bones but whips and chains excite me." I don't think these Gay LBGTQ folk want regular Catholics to engage them in conversation, even on a superficial level about the reality of Unicorns, Leprechauns or the Titanic.

Fr. Gerald Murray is the best thing about EWTN -- how someone so faithful to Church teaching can still keep re-appearing on a softball news network owned by the USCCB is truly proof of Divine intervention! God bless Fr.Gerry!!

Br. Christopher • 4 years ago

Interesting how these gal pals say we should meet homosexuals where they are. I am a ex-gay suffering complications from AIDS. When will the church come meet me where I am? When will the church come meet ex-gays where we are? Trust me they won't. They despise ex-gays. You see they don't like where we are. It goes against the sin they are promoting. Maybe even their personal secret lives.

Emjay • 4 years ago

Focusing on our own sinfulness and the passion of Our Lord should the focus of Lent. I'm so sick and tired of hearing about the poor LGBTQ community and their PRIDE! We should be praying for those who are suffering and struggling with their same-sex attractions, and who are trying to follow Christ. A true follower of Christ picks up his/her cross and follows after Him. They strive to lead a life of virtue and holiness. The road to Heaven is rocky.

Bannaghar • 4 years ago

James Martin applauds sinners and attacks those who admonish them. He obviously is not interested in saving anyone's soul.

JCS • 4 years ago

Well, that's not going to happen. I will never accept homosexuality as being normal.

Blobee • 4 years ago

With Martin's kind of theology, it's not hard to imagine some cleric coming forward to preach more compassion and understanding toward, say, prostitutes. And he would have the added aid of Gospel stories of Jesus having compassion on these women.

Fr. Murray clearly shows where this kind of thinking and preaching goes wrong, but my question is, why aren't the bishops out there correcting Martin loudly, instead of allowing him to speak in their diocese?
(Well, I suspect why. It's more a rhetorical question.)

Daninfla6th • 4 years ago

This abomination destroys families, of which I am painfully aware. However, I insist that we must pray for them, while condemning their ACTIONS vehemently!

Annop Tantisunthorn • 4 years ago

Lent is a wonderful opportunity to double down on praying for the conversion of Father Marin and all who practice the sin of homosexuality.Let's really join forces on this! Fast and pray.

Maria • 4 years ago

The purpose of Lent is REPENTANCE - SACKCLOTH AND ASHES - not LGBT!

It is amazing and disgusting that this man's face seems to be the face of the Catholoic Church and nothing is being done by the Pope to silence him.

Jimmy Martin, Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi ought to establish their own Democrat Socialist Church and with their two new sacraments of Sodomy and abortion leave the rest of us alone.

It is a sin to allow martin to represent himself as a "catholic" priest and espouse his ideaologies which are against Catholic Church Doctrine unchallenged by his superiors who ever they are in the Catholic Church.

My youngest son was a dinosaur when he was little (for ages.) He would tuck his thumbs & little fingers in & walk with large steps stooping and swaying. I admit I did it with him sometimes. I got him to eat broccoli because they were “little trees!!”
My little daughter & her friend were puppies for a while there too. My oldest daughter was a horse. All good 😀 I don’t have confused grown up dinosaurs, horses or puppies.
Not sure what the “new humanism” will do to children’s imaginations though.
My 4 year old niece came home from “Day Uncare” the other day & asked her dad if she was gay!! 4 years old!!!!
She is being groomed for the “new humanism.”
The Global Education “Pact”
......on hold for now Praise Be!
Thank God for all the homosexuals & all sinners who have wept and wept & converted for love of Our Saviour!
I offer my meagre suffering this Lent for Martin & all homosexuals under his daily “Uncare” to be filled with the Light & The Truth & come back to Christ! So help me God!

I will ask our Blessed Mother to guide these people to Her Son Jesus, to understand they are sinning against themselves, and God. I'll Pray a Rosary for them all, including the homosexual clergy, who are also sinning against themselves and God. If God thought sexual immorality was in any way good, Sodom and Gomorrah would still be standing. Homosexuality is called "an abomination", and that alone should stop Jimmy Martin in his tracks, but he is determined to lead these lost, confused souls into Satan's kingdom. He already knows that while God loves him, he himself is choosing his path of separation from God.

Someone permits Fr. Martin to run around as a loose, disordered cannon. He's not doing it alone.

The day I look to Jimmy Martin for spiritual advice is the day Hell freezes over. I’d sooner listen to a Buddhist monk then this heretical sodomite. I am make sure that all my parishioners know that what Jimmy Martin is doing is evil And a danger to the soul. I also encourage my parishioners to read nothing this “man” publishers, pointing out that pope Francis supports Martin’s work. I like to tell them if pope Francis is supportive of something then it probably is very bad.

I think you may have it back to front.
Do you mean e.g. the only reason I am against what serial killers do is because I personally may not like Ted Bundy or Ivan Millat?

A sin is a sin is a sin!

I thought Lent was the time to engage more deeply with Christ's suffering for our redemption. You cannot change the fact that any LGBTQ symptom comes from a psychosexual disorder. The medical community should try to find a treatment or cure for it, not declare it also a natural expression of human sexuality.

John P Glackin • 3 years ago

Only Our Lord can heal them through His One True Church.

Josephine Harkay • 3 years ago

It is also true that God helps those who help themselves. When I had a psychological/emotional problem I went to see a psychologist who straightened me out. Of course it was God's goodness that eventually I was healed.

We should never wish that any soul go to Hell. We understand the anger, but these souls are most in need of mercy and thus most in need of prayer. It is our Christian duty to pray for them, as Christ commands.

Andy • 4 years ago

Yes, I will pray for Fr. Martin and all those who are "confused" about the requirements for getting into heaven. God bless you, Fr. Martin.

Marian Soldier • 4 years ago

St Michael, throw this demon back down to Hell, stop him from wandering the earth seeking the ruin of souls.

God forgive me. Be compassionate ?. He has the most punchable face I’ve seen in a long time. Perhaps by wiping it off his face I feel I’m wiping it off the face of the devil. At least it’s the face of one his imps that wanders the world seeking the ruin of souls. What pride and defiance in the face of God, but then again as so many post, he’s free to go forth by the Vatican et al. Not to preach the gospel, but to spread evil and sin. He’s a Johnny one note. Like any recorded and looped audio. Please pray for me, as Lord says, I should be slow to anger...p.j.

"Lent is 'a time for people to engage more deeply with LGBT people.'

For 3% to 5% of the population, they've certainly captured the lime light all year long, well beyond the new month they've hijacked as their own thanks to the Democrats and the mainstream Press, Television, Ads, and public libraries.
This lifestyle has been systematically force fed to our communities and it's not normal.

BYZANTINECATHOLIC • 4 years ago

is the "new" human identity of NON BINERY part of the LGBT movement now?
I heard that there are millions of NON BINERY'S and growing!
I would like to meet a NON BINERY and ask IT that.
:)

Hedley LaLarr • 4 years ago

I have no idea what a non binary is. Nor do I want to meet one.

PJ Tumnus • 4 years ago

One queer priest continues to promote all things gay, even during Lent! Not surprising at this point in time, when will he catch on that Faithful Catholics just don't buy his tripe, or his skewed lifestyle, or his flawed theology!

Dave Erhardt • 4 years ago

Bravo Father Murray, there are a few priests to call father martin out on this issue. If you not called to marry a person of the opposite sex you are supposed to live a chaste life. End of story.

Bobby McGee • 4 years ago
Martin pointed to the fact that Jesus healed many people in the gospels, and alluded that the Church should do the same for LGBT persons. "I hope ... that the LGBTQ community can feel welcome in their own church," he concluded.

Jesus called sinners to repentance. He NEVER told them to continue wallowing in their sins. People who commit homosexual acts (or are tempted to commit that sin) are welcome in the Church the way the rest of us are: we and they are welcome to repent of our sins, turn to Christ, and ask His grace to grow in holiness.

Bobby McGee • 4 years ago

OK, Jimmy. I'll pray for their repentance, conversion to the true Catholic Faith, and growth in holiness. I'll start with you, Jimmy.
