I'll never forget my first encounter with Kevin. I started up for my shot and all of a sudden a hand was there and I had to shoot high. I was thinking, "Just luck." I drove the next time I had the ball and he blocked it from the side. I said, "This guy is an unbelievable defensive player."
That was our introduction to Kevin McHale.

(Of course, Coach Fitch had already dubbed the late-arriving rookie as "Spaghetti Man" due to his "threat" to go play in the Italian league.)
