Last thing Hertz needed at this point in time.
Maybe a new California Special Mustang will make people forget about Hertz' shortcomings

I will never rent from Hertz given the original news stories about them randomly reporting customer cars as stolen. Seems despite C-suite shake ups, they still are horrible bastards that treat customers like trash.

There is nothing about this company that is reputable anymore. Never rent from them. Just go to their competition. Not just poor, but corrupt, leadership .

[In December 2022, the company agreed to pay $168 million to settle 364 claims related to the company falsely reporting rental cars as stolen. These cases sometimes resulted in Hertz customers being arrested and even imprisoned. While Hertz said a “meaningful portion” of that expense would be covered by insurance, it was another blow to its reputation.]

that is why they are broke

Andrewthecarguy • 1 month ago

Wait...because they refunded the $277?

Axel Cortez • 3 weeks ago

for charging the $227 in the first place, not refunding at the first ask to the CS, it had to go viral in order for them to refund... You cannot be that dense to understand that behavior will leave you with no clients

I know Axel, I was being facetious

You never know Andrew...

I don't rent cars often but after hearing about how they erroneously reported cars stolen and had customers arrested I would never rent from Hertz.

That's going to be the most expensive $277 fee Hertz ever refunded. Whenever companies try to roll over on the little guy, I take note and won't buy from them. I'm not keen to give my money to a corporation that screws over its customers--as I'm sure most would agree. Enterprise is usually my first choice, but Hertz is now last.

Enterprise once gave me a dirty van that looked like it had been in a rally through a forest, the van was filthy with wet mud inside and out. I used it for a short 5 minute run in town and returned it. They then charged me £300.00 for the broken suspension at the back and refused to budge given the logic that the previous renter had clearly not looked after the van and was throwing it around on a building site. Will never go back to enterprise. Customer agent clearly needed to charge someone or his ass was on the line. I had the opportunity to check the van for damage apparently. The van that was caked in mud and you couldn't see any damage on. Wish I hadn't been so young and naive.

This is just Hurtz trying to recover their bad investment into EVs. They just assume renters won’t notice or won’t fight it. Can you expect anything different from Hurtz who reports their cars as stolen to get free repo service from the police?

In any case always 360 video/photo your rentals on pickup and return. If you rent enough it’s just a matter of time before you get blame for damage or not charging or refueling.

FYI, you can earn Presidential status as part of whatever credit card you have. I know Amex Platinum and Capital One Venture X both offer it as part of their benefits. Not saying that’s the case here, but just putting it out there that he didn’t necessarily have to be a die hard Hertz fan to have that status.

I don’t think I would ever do business with Hertz after the false stolen car claims and the fact that they’re $400 million in the hole so they’re obviously going to be charging more for fees and what not here on out until their revenue comes back up.

I respect his decision. This is extremely sad especially when we know that brand loyalty is diminishing. I guess Hertz forgot about social media. We've seen time and time again how powerful it is.
