Great article, I'd be really interested in how you view NewSQL approaches within this context.. In particular Google Spanner and CockroachDB.

Btw, you mentioned PostgreSQL and few other technologies, but I think it is important to mention the Galera replication for MySQL here, and it's approach to CAP. You'll find interesting quorum implementation (P,A), virtually-synchronous replication (C), automatic recovery (A), etc. An example doc: http://galeracluster.com/do...
