When they post pictures on their wall, of you, all of a sudden you are in the facebook sights. The less it knows about you, the more it seeks out information ABOUT you from sources other than you.

Facebook is the ultimate act of, wait for it........PROFILING.

A picture doesn't do any good without any identifying info associated with it.

Sure it does, especially placed where that absent info is pointed out specifically, which is why it comes to whomever posts a pic matching that unknown is asked for that unknown information.

"Who is this?" And then it only takes one person to answer and all of a sudden ALL those unknown pictures suddenly becomes knowns.

Now, put that together with what is happening in Caroline (IIRC) with cops getting a warrant for google to access its records of cell phones in a 17 acre area for a particular time, ALL phones in the area during a particular time.

A whoooooole new meaning of the word "networking" comes to light. It boils down to government picking the "winners" who will aid it in building a complete picture of what everyone is doing, where everyone is going, at all times.

Spying? How can one "spy" when those who would do the spying are already monitoring what everyone is doing, wherever they are, all day every day?

Now, consider this - With all this power already in place, already being employed and used, from stingray tech to this facebook data mining drama, we see massive criminal activity go absolutely unmitigated, indeed even murderous rampages going on unabated.

That begs the question - if all that spying, errr monitoring, isn't being used to stop any crime (not even the murderous war on the streets of chicago) then what IS it being used FOR???

And the really interesting thing is that idiots are surprised by this. We said this would happen back in 08.

I'm not - at least not that I know of (I know it's possible I may have been sucked in somehow). I have NEVER used any "social media" applications.
