are you sure everyone would be alive today? what if he stabbed his neighbor on his way to the lobby? what if he came after the police and stabbed one in the neck as they were walking down the hall with his back towards him. what we need is for people to understand you follow the directions of an LEO. if you believe your rights are being violated take it up with the judge. there are plenty of lawyers who would take your case. now that would save lives. better yet do not commit crimes.

As far as protecting ourselves, I agree with you. I believe in self defense, therefore I carry and have for many years. However, without law enforcement, our society would resemble Lord of The Flies. Yes sir, sure did. WF Buckley had a vast intellect, powerful vocabulary, and could exchange pithy barbs with the best of them. I used to watch him on Firing Line when it was on TV in the 1970s-1980s. I can still hear the show's opening with classical harpsichord.

I was a little kid during that time so I really did not learn about Buckley until my adulthood. And I agree with you that he had an immense intellect. However, I do think he blew one debate with Gore Vidal when he called him a crypto-Nazi. He totally lost his cool and threatened to physically beat him. He lost some credibility during that debate and Gore Vidal looked super smug. I wish Buckley had not let him get under his skin like that.
